Really being picky when you say NO to the mids getting the ball to Tsatas but ok if it's out on the wing where he will have more space. Should not matter if he is an outside runner as you can't restrict him getting the ball in any position if he makes good "positioning". Also don't agree that any Draft No ie you say 5 is TOO HIGH for an outside mid. Perhaps you should appreciate what Lingers does for us on the wing and hope we can train and improve Tsatas to be a star in the centre of the ground. Trust our development and coaching to improve him. These kids aren't all without flaws and think what they will bring not their flaws or shortcomings.

Sorry Trac it was Des that said about a liability. He won't be even at his age I don't think.
-
Disagree Trac He won't really be a liability as does many fine tram acts and is good with the1% ers. Team player and leads as often as any Melb forward. Stupid Damo of the AFL can't see one glaring reason for us to be better in 2023. Take a look at a 100 kg plus JVR and that says it all. Fitness in the team also. I would like he, Tmac and Petty to be our tall forwards and watch us improve in that area! ! All for the team and tougher players who really want the ball and I reckon kick straight. I am very bullish about 2023 enough to predict that US snd Cats could be the two standout teams again!
-
Think you mean Useless don't you? !!!!
-
I think we will all find that backs Salem Rivers Lever Bowey and J. Smith will all have better 2023 than 2022 due to injury and form. Forward wise Petty must be given a chance with Tmac and JVR as the talls and cameos ftom Gawnand Grundy. Now that Toby is out Chandler deserves a chance as does any of the promising youngsters if they project themselves well in the Pre Season. We need to play on and take the game on more. If our forward line improves we will be a big chance again for the Flag.
-
Ridiculous attitude you will have this team dismembered by 2025 with that attitude if only keeping A graders or one if our game breakers on our already suspect forward line. Or did you fit get that you would exchange Connor Rozee in the deal?

Good post LT. One of the major issues coming out of your post is that we have recruited recently but not given these players the confidence to be given AFL game time. Interesting that Chris Scott has just been labelled a genius after about a 5 to 10 year of ignoring younger players on his list or not recruiting enough to have for ready for the big time snd rather topping up with experienced replacements. Finally after a decade he has got the mix right snd bingo bingo a Flag arrives!!! After 2021 SimonGoodwin placed huge faith in the 23 players from the GF and it must be said the larger portion of games in that season. But in trying to replicate that extraordinary effort in 2022 with a strange injury list largely to defence but with on ball and Tmac and BBB as well found that the role players reduced performance he was hindered by a dip in form with the team when the whips were cracking after the bye. Counteracting this was the mystifying lack of dare in the game plan and conservative team selection not giving performers in the VFL ChampionsFlag win (and almost unbeaten for the season ) Casey Demons a look in as replacements. Is history repeating at Demonland like at the Cats with no strong youth policy to keep the elite players topped up with some youth snd trade to only mark pace enough to make Finsls but not contend ultimately for The big Cup. Msybe our 2021 draft were too young but earlier draftees were overlooked disappointingly to keep pressure on the Flag heroes and also keep competition for spots keen snd strong. Specifically I believe Lockhart 2/3 years ago and last year Chandler Bedford Dunstan and som others have not been encouraged with opportunities to succeed and we are no wiser now if they are potential senior Or just depth or even list cloggers. My point is 2022 is wasted largely except for the potential for JVR, Taj W, Laurie, Disco Turner, AMZ, McPhee and even Deakin Smith to flourish with another pre season under their belt. Not one of the almost half of the Casey Flag players are ready for 2023 as of now! ( JVR Dunstan and Turner appear nearest). So planning for 2023 team spots is only about 3/4 ready with half a dozen spots to be filled for a legitimate Flag push in 2023 and no injury or form lapses of 2022 repeating. Are the Demons the new Cats? Only time will tell.

DC why comment when I have admitted it is a spelling error. I don't even know of the word !

Because Casey is still our major facilitated used AFL training hub. It has far more facilities than Goschs so churlishly and saltily choosing to incorrectly call Casey our No2 Training Ground is about as mature as the impatient pleas for an announcement. Doctoring the figures IOWords. It's been advised repeatedly by Perty and Roffey that the issue is with the State Govt.Cttee for decision and annuncement and the stakeholders on that Cttee including MFC. That's if we still are insisting an MCG nearby location. A number of D/Landers continually pot the delay as they themselves are running out of time to hear and may never get to enjoy this facility. Fair dunkum they are like 6 yo kids yearning for their first 2 wheel bike rather than wait for the better model when they turn 8. After 57 years for a Flag patience is still not their virtue as they scramble for any available land within 5/7 km of inner city that is vacant to attempt to push their case with largely weird half baked proposals. Other than team selection issues they have very little to post so the whipping boys are the Training Ground executives Whose hands are well known tied. Next season beckons guys just hang on to your hats!

Poita has made another sweeping statement. He fails to realise that depth is not the same standard as the first picked player in a position. In a halfback flank which is Jaydens position Poita has just written off an aging AA, a very youthful Rising Star and a yes injury prone X factor player with considerable footy and athletic skills. He has also hurled a brick at our breakaway VFL Casey Demons Premiership team. Neither Bowey or Hibbo qualified ( too good ie too many senior games ) and Smithy saluted due to injury under the guidelines for the Finals. The backline included Turner considered a definite prospect for 2023 AFL Buntine a 70 game AFL GWS defender in their Finals years, Smithy, and a rookie on our list Judd McVee. Plus our 4thbest defender in Adam Tomlinson. We have the least total points in H and Away in 2021 ( 3 AA) and 2022 ( 2 AA with another 2 near AA defenders injured for much of 2022. Casey Dees had the tightest backline in the VFL so we have no depth!!! Hate to be in another team like Dogs or Tigers who had leakage issues all year. We don't know how lucky we are but We don't want to lose a best or near best 22 player at any time. Hunty has played some good footy over the 2 years but is under pressure as he is generally selected as the 6th or 7th defender. But to say we have no depth is both incorrect and totally misleading on results over the last 2 years where we have maintained the benchmark for defence in the AFL.
-
What is "easier game time" please explain. I thought it was a 2 year deal but 3 is a real show of confidence. It's really frustrating as Toby for about 3/4 of his footy shows the required ability and skills. BUT he has not mastered the art of finishing and composure. Which is a fault of some of our role players. Thats why our disposal and goal kicking let's us down. Chico needs to get back on the disposal horse and repeat the 2021 lessons to a few. Toby is one of those. We do need his pace and perhaps his confidence about being an AFL regular is the other drawback to becoming a senior regular. Hopefully he stays and 2023 is his year.

BBP If LJ was that poor why was he in the first ruck for a lot of games in the last half of the season.? Because Gawny was injured from QB on. LJ was not poor but his round the ground work rate and failure to mark first grab was crucial to those performances. But to say he played us is unfair as he also had some issues with his calf till the end of the season.
-
One difference LJ was a positive Naughton a negative as he didn't ever threaten to score goals ( too far away from FF) like HD did early doors in replay at G in Round1. Stevie May got him agsin with Tmacs help.

Improving the Demons coaching staff for 2023?
58er replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Wrong wrong wrong RJ Gary has one if the sharpest brains in footy and IMO should be an extra member of our " coaches" and Selectors who we can consult or he approach us as and when required. Like Roos did at North but better option with greater cattle to deal with!!- 104 replies

Exactly watched the incomparable 2021 Granny triumph on Sunday night and only 2 players different vs Lions in defeat on the Semi. Too many lucky to be selected really on form and fitness.! One error was that Bowey should have been selected and Tmac was only nearly ready for return. But too many underwhelming mainly role players played that night and did not get us across the line. Many had relatively poor seasons compared to 2021 and were not dropped and challenged to find form when our selection position snd Casey's form provided an opportunity. Lessons to be learnt by the Club. -
Quite right Durango too much loyalty afforded some of our 2021 heroes and although not public there is no doubt that our fitness levels prevented an all out assault to defend our premiership. Too many players carrying injuries others prematurely rushed back to Senior footy and our Casey side players not used deservedly nor strategically to assist our cause. Also BING 181 has completely missed the wisdom of Norm Smiths comments about new players each year. Dunstan as a sole recruit was never going to be enough and our improving players at Casey were largely overlooked when the injuries and hastened return proved critical in our run home. We now need SIX AFL standard recruits from draft trade and existing stocks of some young talent at Casey to launch a strong and purposeful assault on the 2023 Premiership. It is entirely achievable if the Coaches FD and players respond in the right manner. I believe we have all teams except Geelong covered if we do that and they may be like us and have one of those seasons that not quite right!

Thanks Andy Not heard that as not up to date today with much footy news. Time after dinner to get into it. Cheers snd thanks for all your hard work snd assistance in 2022.

Sorry there was info around about the Bulldogs being involved and thought it was what Jay Clark would be mentioning. BTW I hope Port aren't doing this to try and sweeten us about Kossie to go to them. Never know do we!!

Bulldogs possibly through Freo trades and if Tommo ends up going to Dogs that is tied in to possible deals.
