  1. This thread is about a Jesse Hogan trade, why did you think i mentioned Cerra's name? For a trade with Thomas Bugg? Seriously, you have no idea if you think Freo wouldn't be willing to give up a 19y.o from melbourne and more for Hogan.
  2. If melbourne offered cerra for hogan i would bet my left nut they would accept it. they signed because hes a good young player, doesn't mean they wouldnt trade him for a good deal.
  3. So you are saying because a player has signed a contract, in no circumstances can that player end up at another club via a trade?
  4. When did i ever say he would traded if he or the club objected? Fremantle would probably be happy to involve cerra in a trade for hogan and cerra would probably be happy to return to melbourne and play for a club in the 8. What don't you get about that?
  5. Why not? Not saying he will be. But 100% as eligible for a trade as any other fremantle player. Also young and from melbourne, so im sure he wouldn't object.
  6. Hogan is also contracted, its a trade so it would be irrelevant
  7. Goodwin has said multiple times this year that Hunt had a poor preseason, and interpreting the tone of his voice, needs hunt to develop a more professional work ethic
  8. If hogan were to be traded i would prefer Brayshaw and Cerra (both top 5 picks), rather than 18year olds, as we are pushing for a flag now, so at least there development has started.
  9. Tigers are poised to win back to back premierships, and then challenge for a 3rd. The first 2 premierships have been off the back of frantic pressure and speed. This has been achieved by having a small line up in the forward line. Hardwick and the tigers have agreed to get one of the best tall forwards in the game, in exchange for NOTHING. Its a no brainier for them, they might lose conca to salary cap, but that it. Surely, you must recognise that there game plan has worked because of their fast chasing players. NOW, going back to back to back is nearly impossible, and changing tactics over that period is a good thing, as teams begin to plan for your game-style. So for the tigers, switching up their structure after 2 flags, is probably a smart move. Whether it works is yet to be seen. BUT they gave nothing up to get Lynch, rather than hardwick being desperate for another tall forward.
  10. Having considered this topic a bit more. I can see our team working if Hogan and Trac lose a lot of weight, and base their game on mobility and become the two most dynamic Forward Flanks. Let Weed and Tmac play as traditional talls, and let Jesse use his talent around the ground. In the backline, Maybe Frost can play a dylan grimes role (tall or small lock down defender), and have lever and Oscar as traditional Key backs. Although i am sceptical, personally i think Omac may be the first to go. But a forward line of: Hogan (-7Kg's) Weideman Trac (-7Kg's) Melksham Tmac Hannan Could work very well.
  11. Okay i accept that Hogan is an unbelievable talent, and you don't want to trade him. But if we don't trade him, you must consider what we do with the other key talls. Are you happy to have some of them playing VFL, and maybe trade them at the end of next year after trialling different combinations?
  12. Come on mate don't be naive, yes Richmond only have 1 good key forward. But it absolutely works in their favour. Having 19 small fast players chasing and tackling in the best 22 has resulted in a golden era for the tigers. Furthermore, their is no guarantee that Lynch will make Richmond better, it may disrupt their game-style.
  13. May i ask what your solution is in regards to having Weed, Hogan, Tmac, Omac, Lever and Frost in the team? If we try playing them all next year, and we are clearly end up being too top heavy, what do we do? If any of these players get relegated to VFL, 10clubs will be circling (maybe not for OMAC). But considering the success of richmonds small lineup, and the importance of pressure. I think its unlikely that we can play 7 key position players successfully (Gawn included). If we get two season ending injuries like this year, then we will be fine. But if not we may have two very good young players in the VFL.
  14. I understand the Love for Jesse and Sam. But the Fact remains that we have too many good key position players. Lever, Frost, OMac down back, and Tmac, Hogan, Weed up forward. We would love to hold onto all these players, but Tmac is the oldest at 26. (So no one will be retiring soon) If any of these players have an extended stint in the VFL they will leave for money and opportunity. So we will lose someone, it just comes down to who and for what. I personally would hate to lose Weed, hes the youngest and puts on the best pressure i've seen for a 200cm player. That tackle on danger was out of this world. Jesse is the most talented, he needs his mental game to go up a level however.
  15. Our entire team has developed in leaps and bounds this year - so many players have improved. Salem's year has been outstanding, and has flown under the radar. In my opinion he is in our top 6 most important players. He's our jared Mcviegh, just controls the ball out of back line with such confidence. His 30m kicks inside are deadly, and he is probably the best decision maker in our team. Not too mention that he is hard as nails, loves lining up opposition players and laying huge tackles. I can see him playing well into his 30's. An absolute gem of player.
  16. I already told you multiple times i did not intend that comment as a show of loyalty, or a "threat". But thanks for telling me the meaning i intended to convey. I simply do not want Melbourne to receive a low first round pick if hogan decides to leave for free agency. But to be clear, i want hogan to stay for the next 10 years. You are clearly more interested in arguing semantics and over reacting to peoples comments than having a rational discussion. Have a nice day.
  17. Yeah spelling was wrong, but you read the sentence wrong as well. Congrats. I said if Hogan does not sign we must entertain trading him (Hogan), as we have Weideman waiting in the wings.
  18. We didnt get oliver he went later than pick 3. Also Hawthorn got pick 19 for franklin, as finished first that year. If we Finish in the top 4 next year and hogan leaves we will get a compensation pick of 13-19 depending on where we finish and if other clubs (GC or carlton) get priority picks... so do you see where im coming from? However, I looked up restricted freeagency and Lucifer's Heros is right, he won't be eligable until he's played 8 years with Melbourne. Never-the-less, if we lose hogan to freeagency we will not be compensated well.
  19. You make good points, don't understand why you are so set on throwing insults around however. I was never indicating that we hold a gun to his head and make him sign. BUT if he intends to stay, signing a 1 year contract extension would be much better for club culture, as the players would not spend the entire 2019 season having to answer questions about if Hogan is staying or not. AND if he thinking of leaving, Then we have Weiderman, a really promising young player that can take his spot. So it's a win, win. Either Hogan stays and we are happy. We can trial playing three talls of TMAC, Hogan and Weiderman. Possibly have to trade Weiderman if it doesn't work because he will want opportunities, but thats okay if Hogan stays. OR Hogan is strongly considering going home, so we trade him. Get a good deal for him, and start building a new team around players that will be there for the long Haul. No malice, no anger, just good fair player management.
  20. I'm not saying he owes anyone anything. But if he waits till 2019 then he is a free agent, and can leave and we get no say in what we get for him. This isn't an emotional fan saying he needs to do this to show loyalty, its a pragmatic fan saying the smartest thing for the footy club to do is get a contract extension, or get the best offer before we lose him to free agency. Pretty simple.
  21. IF Hogan will not sign a contract extension at the end of this season i think we must entertain trading him, as we have Weiderman. Don't get me wrong, if Hogan wants to stay, we keep him, but he has to prove this with a contract extension. IF HE DOES NOT SIGN, then... Fremantle are the obvious choice. I would propose the following trade. Adam Cerra and 2nd Rounder for Hogan. Cerra is calm, elite ball user picked number 5 and likened to scott Pendulberry (He achieved a perfect 10 from the coaches votes in his first year). He will fill the Vince/Lewis role in tandem with Salem Perfectly, until Midfield Spots open. With Hogan, Vince, Balic, Garlett and whoever else going at seasons end, we have Cap space to land 1 (maybe even 2) of Gaff, Shiel, Polac or Aaron Hall. As well as Braydon Preuss. We then have 2x 2nd round picks and 2 x 3rd round picks, as well as Tom Bugg and Dom Tyson to offer as potential trades. Essentially, We lose hogan and gain a 2nd round draft pick, an elite outside mid (Gaff or Shiel), a back-up ruckman (pruess), and a top 5 draft pick with elite ball use (cerra. Overall making Lemonade when life gives you lemons. This should be our emergency plan, if Hogan does not extend his contract. IF.
  22. I wonder if Hogan could become the best third tall ever that pushes into the midfield, with Weid and Tmac as the traditional FF and CHF.
  23. Doesn't matter if we were undefeated the entire home and away season and were playing gold coast, you still need to respect the strengths of the opposition and plan accordingly. I'm not suggesting we change our core game plan to accommodate the cats. Our planning into the giants ANB to whitfield, harmes to kelly, was part of the reason we won on the weekend. We plan for Geelong's strengths (5 gun mids, 2 AA defenders and career form Hawkins), but like i said originally, we let our contested ball and offence do the talking.
  24. If taylor plays forward i'd go: Menzel - Hibbard Taylor - OMAC Hawkins - Frost (this scares me, even though Frosty has been amazing)
