  1. Windsor has the ability to play in the middle - not sure if or when they will try it To me, he should be prime Tim Kelly/Josh Kelly type but with more toughness
  2. Windsor looking huge (in a good way) Sky is limit for this kid
  3. Why are we suddenly likely to get Tauru? Seems like this year more than ever clubs will be putting up smoke and mirrors to get the player they want
  4. 1. Lalor, 2. Tauru, 3. FOS, 4. Draper - then we take Smith with 5 When pick 9 comes up, if we like 3 players still available, we offer Smith to Richmond for 10 and 11 I am assuming this is possible/allowed, but havent looked at rules about trading on draft night
  5. I heard it from the horses mouth on Dyl and Friends podcast when Hogan went on - which was pretty recent (last 2 months maybe) That was the first I had heard, so might have not been public before then. But yeah he was desperate to play anywhere, and always loved Melbourne, so was very keen to come back. We pulled out and GWS threw him a lifeline.. the rest is history Edit: Just googled, GWS gave pick 54 - so that says it all really - he was gettable to the whole comp but no one wanted to touch him, despite him being only 25yo
  6. Imo you don't draft based on needs unless you are splitting hairs between players If a gun mid is best available at 9 we take them IMO. If we build a super deep and talented midfield, along with the A+ talent we already have on the list - Roo and Disco (maybe fit petty) could be good enough to make us a top 4 team again. Alternative to drafting a key: Build a great list that lacks 1 or 2 key positions, and then trade draft picks to get a proven player - (e.g. Most of our spine in the premiership: Lever, May and Brown) This will become even more viable from next year(?) when we can trade 2 years of future draft picks. Rather than gambling on a lesser player in the draft that almost certainty wont be ready to meaningfully contribute to a premiership until 4-6 years time We can also try to find a KP forward other ways: Jesse Hogan wanted to come back to Melb after freo and we pulled out last minute (horrible I know). Peter Wright was available for cheap trade Mihocek and Treacy were rookie draft Mitch Lewis Rd 5 in draft
  7. Anyone know where Gabriel Stumpf is projected to get drafted? He is key fwd that won 20m sprint and vertical leap at combine - so freak athelete - but I haven't heard him mentioned at all in mix of top Key Forwards. Would be great to snag him at end of the draft - but I assume he'd be gone
  8. Impressed after tough debut Showed special glimpses in individual moments one that stood out was a rebound 50 where he stayed in the play and got multiple touches running through the middle. This surprised me, given his size. A few instances of him going in extremely hard, The two goals in a row at the G. Given his natural size/power, he could be anything - looks better than Trac did early days. Mentality and physicality is 10/10 - you can tell how much he wants to be a good footballer
  9. Not really relevant if Kako/Marshall get a bid before or after our picks. No Guarantee that pick 9 is a better player than pick 29. Hotton was projected top 10 pick, but had a knee injury this year. Get him at 13 and get to roll the dice on a KPP at 29
  10. Don't have an issue with using 5 and 9, and I would be v happy with Tauru and best mid. But think its negligent not to entertain trade options. I think its likely we see some trades on draft night, so clubs have more certainty about players they will get Eg. If Melbourne really want someone at 5, but they go at 4, we might then trade down with Richmond
  11. I hope we make a play for Richmonds pick 10 and 11. Richmond have so many picks they might consider moving up. eg. Pick 5, future second (BRI) for Pick 10 and Pick 11. Could get something like Reid, Armstrong, Tauru ect with 9, 10 and 11. Or one of the big mids slide.
  12. If they both get back to health and near peak form in 2025, their value on the market will sky rocket - some oppo clubs will see them as the final piece to win a flag
  13. Picks after 20 have been a bit hit and miss for us in recent years: Bowey (good), Howes (good), Rosman (miss), Laurie (miss) Top 20 a lot better: Windsor (Great), Kolt (Looks good), Jefferson (?) I agree though, our trades for Hunter, Billings, McAdam, Grundy has failed miserably, I think the club will stop now. Although, Billings is okay for depth and I still hold an iota of hope McAdam could come good
  14. Probably 49 and maybe a late 2025 pick swap to sweeten the deal for Brisbane
  15. I think we need to remember that our list is good, We need quality not quantity at this point. We are not north/richmond/WCE Bring in a midfielder? You are going to be competing with Sparrow for a spot. Yes he was bad this year, but he's still a seasoned player with something to prove. Bring in 3 mids? They are not going to get opportunity without injuries. Same goes for most other positions - is a KPP going to dislodge Petty or Turner? I think not for a few years. Better to bring in 2 high quality players that can get opportunity and make immediate impact
