Fritta last year, and he got off.
I remember it coz there were more DL-ers logged on during the hearing than ever there was even on a GameDay thread during a match. 😁

A timely reminder that somewhere in the football universe there is justice

  3. A very entertaining game.

A poor performance by some of our key backs. I hardly sited Salem in the last.

I think we need to get a tad more physical and not leave it up to just Viney and May.  One of our mids is built like a tank and needs to use his body more.  An absolute brain fade by Oliver to give da gooeey that first goal.

Kozzie needs to get front and centre and not go for pack marks, or one handed.

And hey fellas look disappointed if you miss the shot on goal.

I'm ok with the Hibberd free but not the Viney one.

Our hassle is that TMac (who some people bagged when he is there) is a pretty important cog in our fwd line in that :

    • He is quick
    • He runs in straight lines with momentum
    • Is a good Pack Mark
    • and importantly is an accurate kick for goal

    Applicants should apply !!!

TMc is quick? Runs in straight lines because he has the turning circle of the Queen Mary....

Must admit he does make room in the packs.

They are playing maxy up forward to cover the missing tall a bit, but to my eye he looks as if he is still carrying an injury. He was amazing lsdt night but doesn't seem to be able to elevate.

TBH I didnt think Max could elevate, injured or not.  Thats why Gawn/Jacko combo is important, 2 very different styles.

(And what is the point of playing Max up fwd if he cant kick.  In that facet of his game I thought he was a disgrace).

I find I am far less stressed out losing while live at the game vs watching at tv. I put this 💯 on the commentators. It’s disgusting.

I always put that down to the fact that you get a much better feeling for the game when you are at the ground as opposed to watching on the telly.  Certainly see much more of it.

Anything beyond 20 years is irrelevant given a number of factors. But my point was largely based on the last 20 years of footy. If you look back at the recent Lions, Hawks and Tiger dynasties, only the Hawks finished top of the ladder once in a premiership year. aside from those specific teams, the top position team has only won it ~20% of the time (in the last 20 years).  That is more relevant to me than what happened in the 1920s.

So statistically speaking - and i think this matters considering who is on top right now - the best H&A team is unlikely to be the best finals team (unless of course you are the 2021 premiers)

To be honest what caught my original attention was use of the words 'incredibly rare' at winning the GF.  IMO 30% chance is not incredibly rare.

What the stats also show is finishing on top gives you a very good chance of making the GF

stats will also tell you that it is incredibly rare for the team that finished top of the ladder to be the premiers. So all in all,  i'd be happy with finishing 2nd.

Um er wiki says other wise...

"As of 2021, 65 minor premiers have won the VFL/AFL premiership, 43 have finished as runners-up, and 17 have finished third, failing to qualify for the grand final. The success rate of minor premiers winning the major premiership has reduced greatly since 1994, when the finals series was expanded to eight clubs and the benefits enjoyed by the minor premier in bye weeks and double-chances during the finals were reduced and diluted; since 1994, only nine minor premiers have gone on to win the premiership."

65 out of 125 is over 50% so it isnt rare.

In recent times it has got harder but you can probably blame Port Adelaide for that.

I'm coming to the end of a project that has involved reading 28 different major primary sources, basically a global collection of the greatest military-strategic thinkers ever to put pen to paper.

From Musashi to Clausewitz to de Saxe and even Rommel, do you think a single one of them went in for this sort of boo-yaa posing?

Does your primary sources include 'Assault on Victoria Park' or 'The Long Retreat from Kardinia Park'  both apparently by Jontee?

In terms of boo-ya posing I would direct you to the Holy Grail where those chaps of a French persuasion said some unkind words on family members.

  10. No, probably too intense and perhaps focused on his own performance.  Not sure he would say the right thing at the right time.  In the past I sometimes thought that Jack was playing his own game, and the team another.

(if it was decided soley on courage and giving 100% then yes)
