  1. Playing mind games with the Tiges. Petty for another week.
  2. Jackson, it is said, is also good when it is below the knees (plays like a mid). Fritta is not a classic tall, has some speed and gives good tackling efforts. Tom's endurance means he can move up and down the field. The talls are Ben, Weids and Gawn. I didn't see the VFL game. So thanks for that. Didn't he do well the week before in the practice match and Weid not as well? Also heard he played up the ground, which is not his optimal position. Could have been getting run distance into his legs. If not ready then it must be Weids. Not both, as the instability may cause some compromise in the cohesion. One this week then one the next.
  3. Tom is doing enough, though could be moved up the field. Jackson is in for the rucking with Gawn and his forward work. Ben will be our spearhead. Mitch is the back up. So Weid, Ben and Fritta are our tall forwards.
  4. I would bring in Ben Brown before Weids for M Brown. Weids is up and down. Would like to see him consistent before the call up. Brown needs to be our spearhead for the season, if ready bring him in. Weids will get his chance. May for Petty. Had 4 changes this week so two is enough. Oh, maybe Sparrow for Jordon. Get him to follow Martin around. Thought I saw the body language of Sparrow near the end. Oh no, those sprints up and down the G again.
  5. My guess, it was a William's stare down and challenge at half-time, to do it better.
  6. Game opened up when the Hawks stopped and we crushed them. Take that last quarter momentum onto the Tigers. Lever and Hibberd all game, with Rivers doing well. Still need more pressure on the small forwards. The wings are working, as is our run off half-back. At stoppages we need more movement, they appeared static. Really need the pressure game that disappeared today, so as to create more turnovers. A few passengers (Jordon, Sparg's) and some who popped up at different times (Petty, Melksham). Gawn can do everything, loved his ground balls gets and clearances, marks elite. Not much flow for us in the first 3/4. Some of our dinky handballs were cut off easily. Our set shots for goal need work. We have to be able to make the most of our opportunities, especially against the best teams. Tmac has been playing well, Oliver good again, Langdon our goal kicker off the wing.,Trac in the last quarter. We will own the G. Great start to our season, now the big test. Tigers who may be a bit complacent thinking that they can get a role 9n so as to easily set up their season. C'mon Dees get set for an outstanding, angry run at them.
  7. We are the real deal, though the bath water can look deceptively refreshing. I think the question is, are we one of the top 4 clubs? It won't be answered against the Hawks today. It is a long season and by round 16 I reckon we will know. This game, is about being able to bring the effort and skills required to put away failing teams. The old flat track bully, would be great to see. A win will keep the momentum and confidence. A loss, there will be some soul searching, though it will not be the end of us. I hope we don't fall into the trap of playing at their level, need to keep up the standards. Make them look ordinary, with our relentless pressure and no unforced errors. Jackson to have his breakout game. Jordan to get 30 disposals. ANB and Sparg's to get that forward pressure stat above 200. Clearances in our favour. Oliver, Rivers and Tom to be in our best. Go Dees. ,
  8. I don't think Burgoyne has been playing well. Game has gone past him. Our speed and pressure won't help him improve. Though he is smart if he can get the ball in space.
  9. An extra tall into the forward line doesn't necessarily put us out of balance. Jackson and TMac (different player and body shape to last season) are both agile and endurance talls. So Gawn and Brown are the lead ups. We have plenty of smalls to get the ground ball and apply that swarming pressure. The rotations through the forward area will be made according to how the game plays out. A tall who takes marks and a robust player who backs himself, come in for a tall/strong and a small, one on one player. I can't see the imbalance, especially when compared to previous weeks.
  10. It is the dogs that are firing. Already had a game against them as a practice. Hoping our brain trust figured them out. Match them up with the role players and take them apart with skill and effort.
  11. Needs to do what Trac did and drop weight. Game doesn't suit the big body, in and unders. Need endurance and agility. Vanders, could be the same. Drop some muscle weight, become faster and run further.
  12. Happy we didn't meet GWS with them making that effort. Thought they were going to run out of puff. Good desperate game. Sydney didn't handle the pressure.
  13. Good selections, Hibbs has experience and needs to cement his place, reads the ball very well and will back up Lever for getting to the ball drop. Petty for his contested marking ability. Has been in the system for a while, and could work well under General Lever. Mitch Brown to give us a leading target, hoping for 2 to 4 goals. Majak must have been close as he is the emergency. Our balance still looks good. The depth we have is fine. Go Dees.
  14. Kev replied to Paulo's topic in Melbourne Demons
Some are getting ahead of themselves. Hope the playing group, aren't. I'm sure the coaches won't be. It is so easy so drink from the bath. We have to be switched on against any opposition. MFC haven't earned anything yet. The past usually describes the future, and as favourites or front runners we have been disappointing. This week is our crucial game. One game at a time, even one quarter at a time, or one moment, could decide where we finish. C'mon Dees play in the moment.
  15. An important game for us. We need to continue our winning momentum. Lose and we play the Tige's with our colours lowered. Win and we will have a good chance against them. Hate to see us go 4 and 2, after a great start. Clark is a smart coach. It won't be easy. Hopefully our brain trust can predict his plan, as well as change ours on the run, so as to not give them a sniff. I should have confidence, but we all know, MFCSS. Really we should win easily. Our effort, tackling pressure, swarm of runners, less clangers (except for a few dropped marks), breaking lines, speed of ball movement, marks in 50 (attack and defence), forcing the opposition to play defensive against us, flexible game plans, nullifying dangerous opposition players, good decision making, our best 6-10 players all up and about, the confidence, getting plenty of looks at scores, pressure for positions, 2nd game at our spiritual home in a row (tigers game will make it 3), we are fit, strong and smart, creative play makes us unpredictable, nothing like training with a smile, we have the right support staff, Casey training facilities appear to be helping, not much going against us at the moment (May is our first real hurdle, not including BB), if we take our opportunities to score goals more often and hold all our simple marks we have it. Go Dees.
  16. Been thinking, there must be some niggles (injuries) occurring. We cannot be that lucky. Rest for those who carry something or need management. Give some young players a go when there is less pressure to perform, anymore than doing a role. Lockhart, Bedford, Bowey, Laurie, Chandler, D. Smith, not sure about Baker (good time to find out). No one has mentioned Hore. How is he travelling? Petty is listed as a forward on the MFC website. Does anyone know where he has been playing in those VFL practice matches?
  17. Put the feet up for a few rounds Maysie. Reset yourself, come back strong, get that All Australian reward, and lead our backline to September. Here's to a quick recovery.
  18. Hawthorn coming back from the west will give us an advantage. Hawthorn's forward line really isn't strong or tall. Suggest, Petty will get the call up over Majak, for the May replacement. Though they could go with Hibberd. One change is enough for a winning side. Jetts, Jones, Melksham need to get more involved if they want to stay best 22. Hoping Jordon just had a bad day and will be up for the Hawks. Sparrow medical sub again.
  19. It shows Goody's modern football capabilities, in that he can easily and successfully (so far), integrate high profile coaches onto his team. Choco, Richardson and Yze, have fitted in well. The game plan, with the ability to change gears and strategies is new to this team. We aren't getting overrun and can withstand a barrage before taking over again. Intelligent play, with the team apparently able to follow instructions.
  20. Part of Collywobbles doing so badly and us doing well, is that Trac may be less interested in their big bucks.
  21. Worked it out quickly. Good coaching, saw him push his opponent away before taking off. Would have been other skills as well. Great game, and tagged. O'Connor did a good tag last game, so even more impressive improvement.
  22. We are good at nullifying the opposition. Four weeks in a row, made them look 2nd tiers. Was Duncan, Miers, Tuoy or Guthrie playing. Great game plans Coaches. Good maturity to not get overrun. Shame we give them a look in with some basic skill error. Stayed switched on for the 4 quarters. Don't drink from the bathwater, it is a long way to go. Oliver, Viney, Max, Trac Lever, Langdon, Salem, Hunt, Fritta, Brayshaw, good all day. Others playing roles and having some impact at times. A bit worried about Jetts, Jordan, Melksham (benefit of doubt for first game of season) and Sparrow's game. Some changes this week. Marking practice and concentrate when it is your time, (don't get ahead of yourself), Very few unforced errors with ball disposal. Swarm of Dees in attack and defending. Working for each other. How many times did Tmac get his arms chopped or his head hit? More than competitive. 4 - 0 wow. Go Dees.
  23. A few of passengers, Jordan, Sparrow, Jones, ANB and Melksham. Get involved, do some magic. Wish we could hold simpler marks and kick set shots. Playing well otherwise, good game plan. Good running and breaking lines, swarming attack and defence. Keep at it Dees.
  24. We are back at the G. For those seeing it there, enjoy and be the 23rd player. Angry, ruthless and effort for 4 quarters, put the bodies on the line and take our opportunities. Give us a good game Dees, build your confidence and mine. Great opportunity for us to set our season and ladder position. Go Dees.
  25. Thought we lost it during the week. Heard an interview with a player where she said, treating it like a normal game so we don't stress. Need to be ready to play finals football, pressure, pressure , pressure. It was far too easy for some of the Adelaide players. When McNamara went down we should have put Bannan out on the wing for her speed and ability to break lines.
