  1. I really hope that is what he brings.
  2. I hope it all goes well for King and his team, and that they can get the best out of the players. My hesitancy is that I reckon we needed a task master. An old school crack the whip leader. The players appeared to get ahead of themselves as a Laissez-faire approach (presumed) didn't seem to get us results. I felt we let the tail wag the dog. The love for each other, didn't work as our human nature is not like that. Within groups, we tend to play roles, and that includes antagonist and boat rockers. I think the brain trusts had unrealistic expectations for the season of love. With a feeling that King is a good bloke, it leaves me with trepidation that we haven't got someone who can stand up against the players and tell them straight with a hard edge, what is demanded of them. Will he bring in the people he can work with, or is he maintaining the status-quo? There are plenty of strong egos in our club, can he manage them and become the top dog? Would love for him to say, they (players and staff) better be prepared for hard work and to expect big changes. I donโ€™t think just changing the game plan will get us there. We need someone to get into their heads in a positive way. Teach them how to win. Otherwise, why sack Goody, another of the modern likeable leaders, who they feel couldn't take us to the holy day again. It will be interesting to see if he can turn our democratic tendency into a dictatorship. Which is what I believe we need.
  3. Cold morning with a light drizzle to start their session, the drizzle stopped before the whistle to begin, blew. A few of the rehabbers were doing the warm-ups and drills with the main group. Beasley, Gillard, Goldrick, B.Mackin, Hose, D.Taylor, later, they attended their personal and rehab groupings. No Purcell today. Goldy and Gillard look close as they did fast and extensive run throughs. The drills consisted of three stations, a competitive running game, a behind the mark kick, to a lead up drill, and a run and carry down the wing drill. They then went into two competitive groups of handball games. Then the sims with two sessions of about 7 minutes each. A group of 6 or 7 players, probably from the Casey VFL team, were train-ons in the sim. During sims Dethridge kept running into Hore when she got it, she got it and was got, quite a few times. I reckon she needs to play to get used to the pace. Some of them are running fast and extensive, led by McNamara and Paxy. Colvin and S. Taylor with intercepts. Harris leading well up the ground. Rigoni keeping Bannan out of it. Zanker and Gall playing deep, as well as pushing high when the opposition had the ball. Chaplin with the run and sling. Most of the ball movement was straight down the spine, no switching or lateral except for the first kick from the deep back area. They love going fast, and making those handballs and short kicks to connect with the forwards. They finished with goal kicking and high marking on the bag. The talls really enjoying the craft of high marking. Plenty of gasps and applause as they succeeded. Dethridge was working with a ruck (possibly Hose) where she was getting in and under, before hitting a low bag. Heath came off during the drills, in distress (lower leg), she went back out for the sims and appeared fine.

  6. If slurs are handled behind closed doors, then, the public aren't educated, particular the groups that continue to offend, and we lose the ability to grow as a community. Rankine creates a growth possibility and becomes a positive for us as a society. The LGBTQIA+ lobby is something some groups find unpleasant. Hidden behind "I donโ€™t care who you sleep with" is the uncomfortablness of the agenda of equality. Many in the privileged majority want them to be quiet. Having a voice is what they find a problem. "Your" civil rights fight has nothing to do with me, it makes me uncomfortable, and I donโ€™t want to know. The same groups indicate, what about me, as they point out "men" should be able to slur each other as the radar knows who is or isnโ€™t taking offence, given they are an intuitive lot (sarcasm). Barely able to feel the moment, nether alone the era. Are those men tolerant and respectful? Hypermasculinity does not leave much room for dissenters, as group think, ostracisation and objectification rule. But, lets not talk about it, nor rock the boat, as that serves the privileged through maintaining the staus quo. Dealing with issues behind closed doors is serving those who are uncomfortable with oppressed groups getting public attention. Lets hope bigotry leaves us and we address each other with greater respect and without prejudice. Till then, lets not be too sympathetic to people with views that are coloured with fear and hate.
  7. Rigoni trained fully, early in preseason, then injury, recovered, had a run in full training, then injured again. Now, ready to go. She is athletic, strong and reasonably tall, and reminds me of a younger Goldy with her attitude. Hoping her skills are developing well. Wotherspoon, who was always in the rehab group during preseason, though was running and working hard, is the one to watch. I reckon a reasonable replacement for Purcell (though a different skill base).
  8. Why not acknowledge that everybody in the generation 50's and 60's didnโ€™t think the same or were the same as you. Big changes were happening back then. Though I am more a 70's adult. Middle classes had money to spare, and private transport became a common thing. Beatnix and music, freedom and expression. Did you not see or participate, in the movement that was happening? What is your need to package everybody up and be as a we, group think it? Safety or that that I donโ€™t understand doesn't exist. The group think works for those benefiting from the social constucts. Why have no compassion for the oppressed in this world?
  9. Please donโ€™t put me in your group of we. No, you were told. Why not think for yourself and stop blaming the other for telling you. There were plenty engaging in Civil rights, and being the revolution generation, learning and having space for the diversity of humankind, in the 70's. The progressive are still attempting to move the world to be compassionate. Those who told you, media, parents, whoever it may have been, have the vested interest. Fear, other, or separation creates power over that, and leaves you doing their bidding, and therefore not walking your own path. Recognising others and having space for them to omptimize their experience without hate or tolerance, but with care and sharing, is not detrimental to you and yours.

  12. Who is the new forwards coach, out there warming them up?
  13. Clarry looking good in the warm-up. Joviality with others, kicking with intention and skill. Hoping he is back to dominating in crowded areas, and playing with some freedom without Goody's expectations.
  14. I think it is the safest place to kick from. If they miss no hit to ego, get it and you hear the accolades. Miss from 30 meters out on an a small angle, higher expectations and takes work, and repetition. Those with a good process are working hard on craft, usually the seniors, and forwards. The youngsters are on the boundary having a good time. I think they are given plenty of leeway at these pregame and post game runs. Prefer that than soccer.

  16. No hint of sub or positions, as there was no structure to todays run.
  17. Most of the players came out of AAMI grouped together, usually they are out higgledy-piggledy. Troy Chaplin last into the shed. Quite a few friends and family of the players, are down here. Plenty of dew on the ground making them concentrate on ball use. I heard they have a business as usual kind-of attitude. They appeared to be similar to last week's Captain's Run, of keeping it all in house, not much emotive or outward looking. I could feel a bit of relief from them as they stepped onto Gosch's for their first public outing since the โ€œdecisionโ€. The young ones had a boundary lap, with Tracc joining them. Fritta and Clarry hanging out together. Salo and Rivers doing run throughs. Melky, lots of good work goal kicking. Plenty of them having a go from the opposite side of Gosch's, on the boundary, doing the highly skilled attempts at goal. The leadership group did little but congregate centrally, and chat. Gawn, Chandler, Tmac, and Viney, Radford not far away from them. Bassett with the goal kicking group, Williams must have followed Casey up to Brisbane. Jones who is looking very fit, getting around to a few of them. Chaplin, started with a chat and some instructions to Adams, got around to some others and appeared very relaxed and ready for it. The track-watchers think it is Buckley to lead us, there was a rumour he was behind a tree here, getting a sneaky, early look.

  19. Yes, Paxy was great, running both ways. Looking fit and making lots of our connections. Put her in best. Also hope Hore is OK, she is so important to us.
  20. Melb 8.4 52 crows 5.8 38 Start of the 4th, they are looking tired, as it turns into a scrap. Melbourne push it into their 50 and hold it there. Crows tried a few times to sling, the Dees backline stood firm and pushed the ball forward again. Good hit out for them. Ebert and O'hehir did well in their first run. Johnson couldn't find enough ball. Great to see Wotherspoon playing, needed the run. Mahony bit of a ball magnet, needs to do better with it. Will be better for the run as she adjust to the pace. Jatczak has a chance to be listed with us. Marks and competes well. Unsure about Dethridge's game, hopefully some learnings. Hore, McNamara, Hanks, Zanker, and Chaplin, best, with Fitzsimon, Pearce, Purcell, and Heath not far behind, though in and out of it.
  21. 3 quarter time 7.1 43 to 5.7 37 Crows dominated the quarter early again, creting some easier opportunities to goal. We responded late, with some pressure turning it and straight kicking to keep our lead after they evened the score. Good turn around so as to wrestle back the momentum.
  22. They eventually got going after Crows had multiple entries in the 50. Good movement with short hit ups and getting the ball into better scoring positions. McNamara with plenty of possession, Heath tackling and covering the ground, Jatczak with some important marks, Ebert with a good start. Ist quarter Melb 12 Crows 3 Straight goal kicking, Melb 31 Crows 5 at half-time Crows dominated the early part of the 2nd quarter, backline doing enough to restrict and pressure them. We had some slings of the half-back (Chaplin) that created one on ones in the fwrd 50, but couldn't mark it. Then the experienced players got more involved, Hore, Hanks, Paxman later in the quarter as we kicked 3. 3 quarter time 7.1 43 to 5.7 37 Crows dominated the quarter early again, creting some easier opportunities to goal.
