Feels like the showers has stopped. At least for the moment.

Give me CBD and surrounds anytime. My main concern, and the cause of our inequality is the corporate and political classes. Thier self interest is so scarry, especially on a dark night in the alleys of those boutique, alcohol fuelled areas. The poor have to battle all the institutions of oppression. Call the security and off they hop. The wealthy are the institutions. They made them to serve their purpose. I have no recall when faced by the horror of people playing the, better than the other card, and their detachment from "being here".

Best of many things. Art, eating, festivals, day trips, walking around the parks, rivers and creeks, visually beautiful, architectural highlights, could keep going. Why do the poor and struggling people disturb your experience so much?

When the pressure was high against us last week, we folded. Hope they did some restructuring and have a plan when they come at us. A six day break with travel, is not optimal. Though, being back on the "G" is. Tracca and Vines to flourish. Clarry, back with quick and clean hands, backline support and hopefully has some goals assist with a few class kicks. Wonder what the mids look like, especially where Brayshaw plays. Some perfect ball movement and hitting the mark, would be great to see, as we polish our game. Go Dees.

You could be right. I don't know the original starting time. I'll take it as a 7.30 pm start.

Just heard the commentators (Gee v Cooly) talk about the game tomorrow. They will extend the starting time by 5 minutes. So a 7.35 pm start for us. They will screen FIFA, on all screens (including the big ones), until our match starts. When we start, the small screens will show FIFA (if necessary) and the big ones will be with our game.

    What is the website URL?

They (MFC v Blue) might have to delay, if extra time and penalties happen. A normal game goes for 2 hrs, extra time about 40 minutes (two 15 min halves), and penalties must be another 10. If that happens, our game won't start till 8 pm. Matildas kick off at 5 pm. Could be a late night.

I looked at game day info. It states, "the Ponsford Stand level 4 will be closed." https://www.melbournefc.com.au/matches/4965#match-information If they expect 70 000, then why have the top of the Ponsford closed?
  10. Melbourne will face Carlton in its first of two practice matches for the 2023 pre-season fixture, Saturday 12th August at IKON Park. The match-simulation will be made up of four 18-minute quarters, the first bounce scheduled for 12pm with gates open from 11am. https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1399469/aflw-returns-practice-match-info Anyone else going, make the most out of the Saturday games. See what the off season has produced for the AFLW demons, then head to the MCG for Matilda's kick off 5 pm, and then the Men. https://7news.com.au/sport/fifa-womens-world-cup/afl-makes-extraordinary-move-to-show-matildas-clash-with-france-on-big-screen-at-the-mcg-c-11543834 "The AFL has made the surprise decision to show the blockbuster FIFA Women’s World Cup quarter-final between the Matildas and France on the MCG big screen before Carlton’s huge clash with Melbourne on Saturday night."
  11. He will be happy as well. All those laps he ran, mostly by himself. At times, it didn't appear easy for him. Occasionally joining the main group, then returning to full rehab at the next training run. The niggle just wouldn't go.

No-one on Gosch's this morning. It is a rugby ground at the moment.

When Oliver is on the field, he will be chasing the footy and in the depths at all stoppages.

What a relief, Clarry is back. Are the AFL going to change the start time to our game? Accommodate the FIFA.

Sorry, I thought it was a Sunday game, game on Saturday night! Perhaps a captain's run tomorrow, Friday 9.30 am at Gosch's, or The Junction, or Xavier. Gosch's, would be best for me!
  16. I just thought different style of players and development. Weid, athletic and big. Was given a fair run to prove himself. Looks like the bombers have also rejected him. Jefferson, wiry and can leap. Struggling to even prove suitable himself for one game at AFL level, at the moment.
  17. Weid cannot mark consistently.
  18. I'd give him a go. Earlier on he looked unable to get to the right spot and find the ball. Lately he has been showing some improvement, development and is scoring. He can find separation, and pops up in unexpected places. With better delivery and structure at AFL level he could flourish. If he fills in till say Fritta or TMac is ready, he would get some confidence that the club rate him and some understanding as what it may take to get up to standard for the next, or probably the following season. Though realistically, they could give our other development player, in Grundy, a look at the forward spot.

It nearly is already, as the main strategic idea is to wrap the ball up, and stop its movement. I think that is why dropping the ball in tackles, is no longer a free. The AFL Heads want the ball moving. A team without it has to stop the ball. Player impacts are now secondary. As a purist would say, "play the ball" (even when the ball is in the hands of the other).

I believe the last FiFA game at AAMI is tomorrow. Could be a a chance that the MFC teams are back into AAMI and on Gosch's soon. Maybe a captain's run on Saturday morning!

They give a penalty in the rugby league. They call it a hip drop,"when a player drops their body weight onto an opponent's legs in such a way as to constitute an unacceptable risk of injury." They could enforce the AFL rule of no tackles below the knee (tinker with the interpretation).
  22. You don't have to sit in the cheer squad area and you probably keeps as far away as possible anyway. No different to any banners, flags, large pom poms, spinning targets, etcetera. Those kids with small flags probably antagonise you. The ground needs their atmosphere and the energy they bring. Game day is only a little of what they do for the club. "Unnecessary and annoying", I think you may be on your own with that opinion. Another guess is you don't Mexican wave, or dance, during dance cam. Not making the most out of the live experience are you? They are so much fun, I have often heard our young supporters getting excited about the giants heads. I don't understand your antagonism. Well done Demon Army, we need you and you are at the cutting edge of supporter's accessories. Keep us entertained, and continue making lots of fun, colour and noise for our teams.
  23. Unsure what to make of that. Straight kicking, defensive rebound, midfield dominance and determination got us back into it. North missed some important goals that would have kept them with us. Still bombing away, and handballing to the other under pressure. At least we play better at the G. Worried, that if the other out-tackle us, we fall apart. Pleased, that if they don't continue the pressure for the 4 quarters we take them. Glad we can play in a variety of ways, and the coaches can get the right style, for the situation from us.
  24. Want to see our backline working well. Limit them to minimal opportunities. The rest need to tackle well. Defense wins it. No injuries, and run out the 4 quarters. Junk time goals would also be appreciated. Kossie has his game back on track, keep it going. Some forward marks would also help, just like last week. Go Dees.

I thought McQualter was doing alright after Hardwick. Gave them a few wins and some hope. Dusty was playing beautifully against us. Just not enough time for the veterans to get up, after only 5 days. If a 5 day break, needs both clubs to have the 5, otherwise too much advantage to the one with more days. If prime time telly, should really have more than the 5 day breaks, especially at the back end of the season, if they want a spectacle. Also, the Docklands curse for Richmond. They need to embrace the travel.
