Training and Trackwatching
School holidays are a great time for open days at training. The last open training was the reconciliation day, and was posted at the last moment, and only a few outsiders were there. There was one that was during school holidays, but was a 10 year consecutive members viewing, and therefore not posted. A few have been captain's runs, where it is little more than a 1/2 hour run. Great that at all the trainings I have been to, the players are always happy to present for photos, signings and chats, for those that wish that kind of thing. There were some preseason open trainings that were great. As they had plenty of kids activities and the Demon Army's BBQ. The media are always there. Rarely and probably impossible to have closed sessions anyway. Why not post training times and encourage the retirees, centrelink's, others with time on there hand, or a spare hour, to enjoy and create some atmosphere for the squad. Especially during a time when the club is enjoying some success. Can only help with greater membership, etcetera. I think they could do much better, less than a handful I'd say, have been posted this season. Why not have a Casey open day training, especially during school holidays?

PREGAME: Rd 17 vs St. Kilda
What a difficult talk that would've been. My guess, he set it up at the start of the year, or at the end of the last. Give Tomlinson some goals, state clearly that the coaches don't see him as our best 22. Just a shame, sham that when he came in to cover injuries, first time under stress to perform he did mediocre. Then the second recall, he must have already had an honest conversation, because on form could have stayed in.

My guess is, Goody explains to the individual player what is expected and guarantees their place based on developing the relationship, and forming some kind of ease within them. He has consistently shown that performance at VFL is not necessary, and often seems to prefer only one or two changes. Then occasionally throws this, four changes. I still trust the club, but gee the end of last season wasn't great. This one we have to win easliy, as confidence and to start our momentum, is mandatory to a successful season.

I was nearly believing picket. Backline, is still strong, and we can play desperate, effort making footy. Finals style plan.

PREGAME: Rd 17 vs St. Kilda
Just thought they could have given him a bit more time see if he had anything to offer. He would have had to start improving rapidly, but won't get a chance. Like I said, it will be hard for him to find his way back, and as you both say, given his skill set, and developmental delays. His only hope left is as sub, with a big impact.

Interesting out in J.Smith. I wander what they want him to work on? He has been getting through a few games now (uninjured), the wet last week. I thought he deserved one more look at AFL level. The VFL really won't improve bim. Will need to dominate at that level to get back in if dropped completely. Hope they use him as a sub specialist.

Yes, apparently the Glass house surface suffered in a down pour of rain. I think they have had a couple of runs on it now. Perhaps if the Woods dig ours up with use, the Glass will have a perfect surface later, and the Gosch doesn't get a training break, which would have been useful for its rehab. Another problem with using community ovals. Anyone has the right to book that space. Maybe Richmond will be the next one. Get a practice on an MCG sized ground (LOL).

Saw the Collywobbles training at Gosch's on the telly (ch9). What a crowd they pull! Wish we had the same numbers. Often, I am one out of a handful, and occasionally I feel the only one there. Oh, the media has always turned up at Gosch's this season. Why don't the MFC encourage more spectators at training? I would like to see more post to say training is open, and get the Casey supporters on board out there.

2023 Injury List
The look of the dialogue between Clarry and Selwyn was not a good look. I understand Oliver's side of frustration and seemingly "pushing" to keep at it. It is Selwyn with his hand out, the agitation and walking away and returning, that I have the problem with. He need's to remain calm and be seen to give feedback that is calculated and delivered in a way that brings the best out of Clarry. As with all the MFC coaches and staff, "get the best out of the squad", should be the mantra. Maybe Selwyn knows Clarry well, and that is the approach that is best for him. Just, doesn't look like it.

Training Ground?
I think it is more about the soccer teams getting access to AAMI, for some runs and familiarity with the ground, and of course game day.

Totally agree, never went into the rehab group (except the first Monday session when it seemed to be about assessment). Was running and kicking straight after playing out the game and at training, when he felt there was a problem. They should have rescued him from himself, slowed him down for at least the first 2 to 4 weeks. Has to be some kind of ligament/tendon/nerve/bone problem. Cannot be a minor hamstring. @Roost it far must be right about not being able to use the after burners, without stressing "it".

Training Ground?
Over the next 15 years, the reserve can expect to score a bunch of new sports and recreation facilities, walking and running tracks throughout, and picnic areas. A new sports hub will feature an indoor stadium and outdoor sports fields, with car parks beneath the pitch, and there are big upgrades in store for the lake and wetland areas, including the addition of an Indigenous heath. This was copied from https://concreteplayground.com/melbourne/travel-leisure/caulfield-racecourse-reserve-looks-set-to-be-revitalised-as-a-public-park-and-recreation-space An indoor stadium would be great to train in, occasionally.

Training Ground?
We have been given the heave-ho out of the City area training. It will be interesting to see how full time use of Casey will suit us? Due to the FIFA Women's World Cup, Melbourne will be based at Casey Fields for all main training sessions throughout July and August. This was posted on https://www.melbournefc.com.au/teams/training-times We are the only club with disruptions, due to us not having our own stand alone facilities. Caulfield would make a stable home that is reasonably close to the MCG. Much better than what we have now. https://concreteplayground.com/melbourne/travel-leisure/caulfield-racecourse-reserve-looks-set-to-be-revitalised-as-a-public-park-and-recreation-space This is the main plan, let's get on board.
