Hasn't rained for a while here in South Yarra. The clouds are looking less threatening, it has cleared, and the area is drying out.

Still intermittent rain here in South Yarra. Forcast indicates that it will clear soon. Hope it's cold enough for the Northern team, so they focus on the freeze, rather than the effort to do the one percenters.

Not Kolt's strong suit. I've noticed his disposals seems to let him down, occasionally. However he hates missing the target and there won't be two in a row. 8 tackles, 18 pressure acts, in and under everything. If support for his team-mates was also a stat, he will be on top for that. Will stand up for himself and his mates. Look out Dorko. His enthusiasm is infectious. His first 10 minutes will be manic. He'll wear himself out and Woey will replace him in the 4th. Go get em Tholstrup.

Around the paddock today were signs indicating that the area had recently been sprayed with 'chemicals'. When, what, where and to what extent was not stated. Just, warning signs at various gates. There were no signs on it Sunday. I hope the MFC was told it was OK to use the field.

He was doing full work with the MFC Casey Squad (no tackling) after the run with the rehabbers, he had some strapping on his left shoulder.

What’s In a Name? - a Comprehensive List of Player Nicknames
Kev replied to hardtack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Heard today (10th April), that they were calling Verall, "fish". Anchorman was not far off. -
Prefer to call the place by it's indigenous name, Ntaria. You are right, Namatjira clan area.
-
They are the Ntaria footy club Hermannsburg may be the colonies name. Difference between Narm and Melbourne. I know what place I would call where the people are from. As is written on the uniforms they are wearing, Ntaria.

He is with the MFC Casey Squad.

MFC Casey players are out now. All rehabbers have joined them, Marty, McAdam, Melky, Bowey, Sestan. Sestan has some left shoulder strapping. McAdam doing well. Accelerating with power and some beautiful shimmies and cutting lines in a handball comp/drill. No, not Marty. Trainers call him out, he wanted to be in the drills, but no. Also, not Bowey. Though they both play in the structural sims. White caps are Sestan and Turner, (no tackling). Hunter doing some instructions when the sims breaks. The squad is looking classy, rarely any errors. McAdam is looking the goods, (in the sim), running hard defensively and when attacking. Schache is playing well. Jefferson gets lost at times, needs more work on his decisions and intention. When he has space, he kills it with skills. Andy Moniz-Wakefield is in the backline.

No-one in rehab this morning, a Captain's run, 26 players. Laurie, Tomlinson, Tholstrup, Chandler, Woey, and Kossie are out there. Rehabbers are out now. Marty, McAdam, Melky, Bowey, Sestan. As a guess for in and outs, I would say, out Laurie, Tomlinson, and Woey as they were mainly in the yellow vest in the structural sims. Tholstrup was doing plenty off the half-forward. Chandler was running hard, giving the knee a test, no problems. There are group, maybe 20, from the area around Alice Springs (Ntaria). One of them will toss the coin at the game. The indigenous players all made some time for them. All in the MFC colours of their own club. The MFC also handed them some scarves.

I didn't have a good view of the rehab/light duties area, what I saw, McAdam was doing some easy ball work with the others. In previous sessions he had a personal program and was running by himself, although last time I saw him he did do some drills with the main group. He was in his normal training attire, and not the rehab shirt. I haven't seen him do a flat out sprint. Until that can be done, I assume he is not ready to go.
-
My guess would be main training today, down at Casey.
-
Agree, old man calves. Difficult to get right. Same as the Spargo achilles. Why did they play him early in the season without a build-up? Does leave questions about the trainers ability and judgement.

Quote from @Tim. "Casey played a praccy match against Carlton at Princes Park on Friday evening. Lachie Hunter played and Taj got some more miles into his legs after his brief Adelaide cameo on Thursday night. Sestan not playing. Kynan Brown was excellent, as too was the Kolt. Taj and Bill were also good." No setback, they got a game into Hunter, and were giving him light duties. Sounds like Sestan has the setback, and being in rehab was not fitness related. At least he was running plenty of K's.

They showed a schedule on the website. https://www.melbournefc.com.au/teams/training-times Strange they couldn't include it on the email invitation, as it had been there for sometime. 11:00am: Event open to public 11:45am - 12:15pm: team training 12:15pm - 12:45pm: players signing along the fence 12:45pm - 1:30pm: Field open to the public for K2K 1:30pm: event ends

That area is the usual gathering place for spectators. They probably didn't expect the big numbers, so many of the 10+ end up down the slope if no place on the fence. Best place to watch those right footers kicking goals from the boundary at the end of the session. Would assume the players had no idea that area was for the 10+ consecutive year members. The area on the other side of the sheds is flatter, central, and probably more suitable to the large 10+ group. Would also give punters access to the players on the walk back to AAMI. One of the coaches had a chat to Robbo on the loud speaker in the marketing area, probably only those close could hear the banter. Give the club a heads up, @Kick_It_To_Pickett and your good self. Another family day in July is planned. Thanks @Kick_It_To_Pickett and @Fat Tony for the reply.

Not such a good morning, weather wise. As I arrived, it starting raining, settled into watching some Victory players have a kick around. The MFC squad come out as the rain abated, they had wide smiles as the walked down the roped corridor. Plenty of joy from the supporters towards them, kids everywhere, maybe about 500 to a 1000 of us. Rehab/light duties, Hunter, BBB, TMac, McAdam, Bowey, Chandler, Melky, Sestan, AMW, Spargo, Turner. Chandler was doing enough running to suggest he will be right. I expected Hunter to be in the main group, must have had a setback. Looks like they are working on the fitness of Sestan. BBB and TMac are managed, no obvious hindrances, and the easy recovery run is usual for them. A surprise with AMW, just as we were suggesting he is nearly ready, he goes into rehab. I couldn't tell what the problem was. No Hore. They split into three stations, short kicking, a kind of soccer competition of kicking the ball down the field with finesse from outside the line, and a structured handball game. Down came the rain again for 5 minutes and then cleared. They did some structured sims. Coaches would move the ball from the forward line and set a high mark for a backman who would slingshot it off via spread and/or corridor it with links, to either a marking forward or to a forward that brings the ball front and centre. may was moving well. They had a couple of meetings in the middle. Finally, they head to the boundary for extensive signings. Great atmosphere.

No reward for our tackling. Well done backline. Adelaide, mostly individuals, trying to win it by themselves.

The draft, free agency and assistance seems to offer less than being destiny clubs. We have done pretty well lately as a desired club, like Geelong and others, that keeps us competitive, as we fill holes in the squad with experienced players. Fremantle is the desired club in the West at the moment, and look at them flourish. The system has some flaws. I still cannot figure out how we and other successful teams continue get numerous high draft picks, even though playing finals.
-
Weagles need something for the eveness of the competition. Teams who play them twice get the advantage. Goes for others stuck down the bottom as well, assistance hopefully creates, 'close games are good games'.

We lead off the round again. So much to like about our seasons start, especially quietening the media about our off season 'disrupting' us. The Crow has been doing lots of promotional work and could be distracted tonight. Anyway, I expect a hard fought game, we have the right stuff and should make it tough for them. They have to turn their season around, and we are a difficult team to play. That defensive zone we have, based on gut running, player connection and role playing is great. They will have to have a plan to cut through us, especially if they don't move the ball quickly, and I wonder if Nick's can out-coach Goody's brain trust. Cmon team, be clean smart, find space, and continue to fight for everything. Go Dee's!
