  1. Talk about misery loving company. This thread must in some way be cathartic for you guys ‘cause I’m reading the same shiite over and over and over and over again. Either that or you just luv sticking the knife into anything MFC related. But that cannot be right because we all love the Dees don’t we!? Please tell me what your intentions are next year when (if) Goody is still coaching us. Is this thread going to keep on keeping on for another year? If so I won’t be reading it. I value my sanity too much.
  2. It’s game day. Yay.
  3. Assuming that Petty is not available, here is my team for this week: McVee, TMac, Lever Bowie, Turner, Rivers Lindsay, Oliver, Langford Petracca, JVR, Chandler Jeffo, May, Melksham Gawn, Viney, Pickett Bench: Langdon, Windsor, Howes, Laurie, Sparrow. Out: Fritsch, Salem, Tholstrup, Sharp Time for May to convert to that big, bustling, leading forward we all know he wants to be, who will crash packs and leaves a path of destruction for all that get in his way. Also gives Jeffo the 3rd tall role, that he needs, and a bit of confidence that someone else will be doing all the heavy work. Fritsch and Salem out. Both not playing the team role they should be. Kolt and Sharp out because they are not good enough yet. I’d almost be inclined to have Verrall as the back up ruckman, as Xeri is always body sapping for Gawn, and he needs a good break - without taking JVR away from his KPF role. Perhaps Verrall for Sparrow or Laurie?
  4. You are not doing a Tom Morris are you? Please, what’s your source on this? Until then, im backing @Ghostwriter’s version thanks. Edit - sorry, just seen the Fox report on this.
  5. I don't agree that we are a "useless bloody joke of a club" Beelz. We are all frustrated because the players, through their inept performances, are letting this Club, and our great supporters, down. Sure, the coach has to take some of the responsibility for that. What is so frustrating is that we have shown this year that we can match it with any side when we want to. Unfortunately, we have also shown that we can lose to any of the other 17 clubs if we are not switched on. All that aside, where has the incoming CEO backed Goody for '26? That was what i was after. I highly doubt that any CEO, before they have even officially started, would make that sort of comment. I think that is all D'Land BS. I do however recall someone saying that Goody was the man for '25 - cannot recall who that was though. As i said in another thread, I'm sure there is plenty going on behind the scenes that we are not, rightfully, privy too. The time for in-house action, i believe, is at the end of the season, not now. Who's to say we are not already doing research on any number of Club positions and possible players as we speak?
  6. Ollie Sestan was one week last week. What's happened? I want to see him pushing for ones again!!!
  7. So daytime games are preferred to night games for him as far as height is concerned. (you are both loonies)
  8. Maybe OD, you are correct - "too many things appear to be in holding mode". But just because they appear to be in holding mode, doesn't necessarily mean they are. We are not privy to what is happening behind the scenes, and probably for good reason. I think there is probably heaps happening behind the scenes, including Goody related, which of course you wouldn't want out in the open yet. People calling for major shake ups, now, are being unrealistic in my view. Any changes that happen will be at the end of the season, not during the season for very valid business and football related reasons. My faith is with the Club to make the correct and sound calls when the time is right - as frustrating as that might seem to us supporters.
  9. I may have missed it, but who and when was it stated that Goody will be coaching us next year?
  10. I’m sure that is his only thought this week.
  11. For the more regular Casey watchers, I have a question. How much game time is Verrall actually getting? Is the amount of time TC is spending in the ruck actually limiting Verrall’s involvement and therefore his progression? From reports, Verrall played well when TC was injured. As he is the future, shouldn’t we be doing more to develop his game?
  12. I think dropping Jeffo now would cause more mental harm than allowing him to hold his place in the team. Let’s temper the excitement on Kentfield for a bit. He played well yesterday but it was only the first time he’d had over 10 possessions in a Casey game. He could well be a beauty but I think he needs more Casey time. Fritsch needs to go unfortunately, but if you are not willing to go to the action and contest, then there is no place in this team for you. If fit, Petty straight back in as replacement. Sharp needs to go and Howes needs to come back in if fit. I think Salem is not doing enough and is too loose. He is nowhere near the player he was. But he will keep till Sestan makes a successful return from injury. I’ve been pushing his barrow for a while now and I believe he’ll make that quarterback role his own once he settles in. Develop the young and make the established players earn their right to be in this team. That’s my motto for the rest of this horrid season.
  13. Your track record regarding the readiness of Jeffo has not been great. Thanks all the same Picket but I think I’ll pass on this latest forecast.
  14. Dub, you mean like moving a firing winger to the back flank? Would that be dumb too?
  15. Haha Beelz. What, you’ll revert back to being an emoji guy again?Where would i then get my daily analogy fix? (Or 2 or 3 or 4?). Whether Goody goes or stays( and I’m leaning well towards the former) this site would be poorer without your input. I see you and @Ghostwriter as polar opposites, and we need this Yin and Yang for balance. (Although I think you are both somewhat deranged).
  16. OD, you dirty old man! I hope Donna is your wife’s name.
  17. Memory? Just how f’ing old are you LDC?
  18. That surprises me GW, but as you are so much closer to them than me, I respect what you are suggesting. As an outsider, I’ve always thought Rivers was captain material from day one. I do think form is important however, as a captain should be able to lead from the front. Trent has not progressed as much as I thought he would, but that could soon turn. Whatever happens, we have a couple of years to wait yet ( thank god) before we need to decide. It will be interesting to see who puts their best foot forward over this period.
  19. we sure could. But I very much doubt that will ever be Fritsch again.
  20. Agree they probably would have to accept less coin - but that’s their choice - leave for less or stay and be rewarded. With their contract torn up, then we would want fair compensation through decent picks in return. The point is, we shouldn’t be made to lose because a player wants out.
  21. If Tracc and / or Clarry wanted to leave at the end of the year, why should it be that the MFC loses because of this? We negotiated a contract and a contract price in good faith with these players and they willingly signed up. We should be allowed to get fair value for the player in these situations instead of ending up paying part of their contract fee and perhaps getting a third rounder in return. That is just not fair. What should happen is the MFC contract with the player is torn up, we get fair trade value for the player and the player negotiates his salary with the new Club. What’s wrong with this system?
  22. Here’s a thought. Are the inmates running the asylum? For all of Tracc’s posturing (and demands?) last year, are we a better performing club this year because of it? For all of our pandering to Oliver, are we a better performing club this year and last? (In fact, are Tracc and Oliver better players this year as a result of our pandering? On field, Tracc is the epitome of Tracc first, Team second, and for someone who claimed the Club was not professional enough, his disposal is a disgrace, embarrassing and nowhere near professional standard. Clarry is just a shell, and such a sad case). For all the player “wants” of more away time from the Club, are we a better performing team this year? For all of Goody’s desire to be “best friends” with the players, has this made us a better performing side these last couple of seasons? While I have no doubt that many of the players love Goody, I also believe we need someone stronger. Someone who will take back control of the players, so that the horse is once again leading the cart. They don’t need a friend, and they don’t need a sergeant major, but they do need a father figure who can hand out tough love when it’s needed. Goody doesn’t appear to be that man. While Goody has faced some tough situations, he has to carry the can for the state and performance of our team. For years he had our team deliberately bombing the ball long down the sidelines. Is it no wonder that this is ingrained in our older mids - Viney, Clarry and Tracc - and why they cannot hit shorter targets. Goody’s game plan of ‘21 now no longer works. (Correction - the fitness side of that game plan still works, but we are just not fit enough). Goody can be compared to a rock band who’s had a major hit, but each new record sounds very much like the old hit. Last season I think was a huge wake up call for Goody. He realised that most of his players were not skilful enough to play the modern game style. This would normally entail a list rebuild. But the review last year set finals as the minimum pass mark for him. Goody’s dilemma was how to develop a sustainable game plan whose main players were not skilful enough to execute, yet still win enough games to play finals. Impossible task. A lovely man by all accounts, but sad to say he’s a one hit wonder (and there is nothing wrong with that), who has now lost control over the players and doesn’t have a game plan or personnel to make this club a force again. Time for change.
  23. I’ve heard from a usually unreliable source that Goody will keep his job next year. Therefore, I’m now assuming he may actually be sacked at years end.
  24. You and your bloody “Pumped baby!” Used to luv your posts. Im sick of the pumping. I’ve done nothing but pump, pump pump. I’ve been pumped up and let down so many times now I have ED ( emotional disturbance).
  25. Max has been missing his drop punt kicks at goal for years now. That will now never improve. Time to try the Peter Hudson flat punt when kicking for goal. More of the ball strikes the boot at the one time, much more than the drop punt - therefore less margin for error. Worth a shot - PH did ok using it.
