It would be great to finally have a player win from the team that Norm is so strongly associated with. Wish his son/grandson presented it. Norm’s widow, Marj presented the first one to Wayne Harmes (her nephew) but never did another ones (pretty sure Barassi did it in 1980, Peter Smith did it in 1981, no idea who did it after that.)

Thanks for everything Jones. You were there for all the hard times and never lowered your head. You were there for both 2008-2009 wooden spoons but never abandoned us like so many (who shall remain nameless) players did. The courtesy you showed my niece/nephews when they met you was really gracious and left a lasting impact on them. You were their favourite player and they will never forget you. Thank you for everything. Nothing but love and respect for you.

Didn’t they release a book that had reprints of ALL grand final records? I was going to buy it but baulked at the price. Funny how back then, things were spelled “programme” instead of “program” like they are now.

Very interesting that a letter says the count back for the Brownlow should be scrapped and should be joint winners. This didn’t happen until 1981 (17 years after this game.) And the writer won cigarettes for this winning letter. What if he’d been a kid!

As my uncle is not well and at my dads I will be going over as a carer (although I’m really a barracker.) Even bought a reject shop Halloween nurse’s outfit as a joke. Seeing it with my father means everything to me. He got us into the demons. I want him to see it more than I want to see it. I’m just so happy that my uncles last grand final will be a Dees one. I hope he goes out a winner

Lol I used to do nudey runs as loss bets, but have now accepted at my age no-one wants to see it. Used to be punished by wearing someone’s dirty socks but COVID has stopped that. Just pledged to put my hair in sailor moon buns for a week if we win (boss will be furious I’m sure.)
