Josh Kelly
GWS ain't gonna trade Kelly this season. They're doing everything possible right now to free up cap space to try and keep him at the club. I still think we are the top of the list right now. North are paying everybody a million backs and will surely be out of space by next season. We know via PJ that we have room for a big player if he wanted to come, the problem is our position in the draft. When Kelly becomes available next season does everyone think a first rounder and future first rounder will be enough? i think the deal will be a lot more complex.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
If the Weid rumour is true then sorry Sam i wish you the best. How many teams have a guaranteed 45 goals in their team? I'm only trading Jesse if he wants to leave. I'd also only take 2 first round picks with a future 1st round pick. Use those picks to get Kelly and draft a key position defender. Even then we will have a huge hole up forward that we are relying on a 20 game kid to fill.

Post Match Discussion - Elimination Final
Still buzzing, can't sleep so i thought i'd write down a proper review. So we'll start with a few negatives because theIr ain't many. We blazed away a lot after qtr time. It felt like out of fustration more than anything, but it was still slightly dissapointing considering how we improved this area the last two rounds. Second negative is the goal kicking, seriously we missed so many easy chances just because we had no composure. Composure is how you beat Richmond, they want you to feel every kick is under pressure when in reality you do have a second or two more than you think. We should've won 10 goals plus tonight. Finally, don't over complicate things. Sometimes we just play on or do one handball too many. Going back on the mark is sometimes a good thing. Positives, so many. I don't know if it was the atmosphere playing it's part but it felt like our pressure was the best since ANZAC day eve against the tigers. The tackling was perfect and the gut running fantastic. It felt like we were richmond today and the cats were us from back in round 5. Couldn't get out of the defensive traps and just coughing up easy balls. Weids stood tall and his second and third efforts were amazing. Something Hoges struggled with when he looked sore. Gawn wasn't even the game breaker, however his final qtr hit out dominance was noticeable. This is massive considering everyone figured he was the difference. In reality we were always the better team, but we had to learn the lessons from the experienced cats during the season. I see Trac not getting much credit and while he did fumble i felt like he was pretty good. He set up the first goal then went a bit quiet, but he can pop up at anytime with a clever handball or deep penetrating kick that can break open a game. Oliver, Brayshaw and Viney had their chance to stand up and show the rest of the comp how good they're and they did. Viney probably won over a ton of casual fans tonight with the elbow to selwood's face and then running him down when he slipped haha.

Bernie Vince Retires
One of my favourite players since he joined the club. It made it hard for me to be critical of him in his final year. I really hope he can play one more game, he deserves it.

Sam Weideman
Really liking Weids at the moment. Something that i've noticed is all our picks in the Roo's - Goodwin era are all great characters who are willing to crack in. When we drafted Weids i was amazed watching his introduction interview in which he said he was prepared to wait for his chance. Granted when he had his chances at AFL level he wasn't a beast like Hogan was, but he has grown a lot this year and i think he will be a weapon in the final series and hopefully a more permenant starter next season.

Andrew Gaff
Hogan is better than Lynch. Only way Hogan leaves is if he asks to leave. I don't know why we don't sit on what we got and make a move for J.Kelly at the end of next season.

Andrew Gaff
A certain GWS player whose name begins with K and ends with elly is available next year.

It doesn't fill me with confidence that nobody has outright said if Gaff was open to joining Melbourne Angus wouldn't have a problem with it. To be fair our interest only seems to be faint in the AFL media's view. While some people here seem to think his signature is something the club see's as a priority. Yet everytime Gus or someone else talks on Gus's behalf the feeling is he has a problem with Gaff. Now people who don't like eachother have played together before, but you would always prefer that everybody got on. If it comes down to it i'm always going to say don't go after Gaff and maybe look at other options this year or next (J.Kelly)

I'm suprised a bigger deal hasn't been made out of our interest? Do the journo's not know or is our interest even genuine? I've heard it repeated that North are the front runners.

Andrew Gaff
I can't confirm where i heard it but it was no mistake i heard Gus and Gaff, Gaff is currently in Melbourne so it makes sense.

Andrew Gaff
Angus and Gaff are meeting to clear the air. I'd think Gaff is def considering joining Melbourne otherwise i wouldn't see the point in meeting Angus. I also think it's important to consider people around the situation have said it won't be an issue (e.g. Jonesy and Mark Brayshaw saying they forgive him)
-
Andrew Gaff
This is a situation that is vastly different to any before it.

Andrew Gaff
Firstly should we all wait till he is 40 for him to make a decision? He is under 0 pressure to accept an apology. He has the entire football world on his side and if he said no sorry i don't accept the apology than that's fine. I also don't get where you think im judging anybody?

Andrew Gaff
The red card system needs to be balanced. You can't have players being red carded because they accidentally bumped someone in the head and that guy is off for the game because of concussion. It needs to be done only for purposeful or terrible acts within a game (Gaff, Hall, Cameron and Bugg) and not for incidents like let's say the tackle on J. Smith on the weekend. However, knowing the AFL it will become a big controversy within a week of it being implemented.

Andrew Gaff
It's a tough situation. I'd firstly be concerned about my brothers health. We also have to remember this wasn't some random bloke. It was a fellow player who has been held in high regard throughout his career as model pro and good guy. I'm sure Angus, Andrew and Hamish would all look at the situation differently to how we do because it's a unique one to them. If Andrew Brayshaw accepts Gaff's apology than it's over as far as i am concerned.

1. No one truly knows but i doubt it will. I also doubt we would be in the market for him if he wanted more than 1mil a yr 2. Probably. Lewis has a more thuggish reputation and we loved it when he signed.

Andrew Gaff
Doubt there will be a defence. With Gaff's record and the past incident being similar in weeks he will plead guilty and apologise and take 6-7 weeks. I agreed with Bartel and Lloyd, i don't think the AFL would want him to potentially play in a GF after this incident so 8 weeks down to 7 with a good record is my guess.
-
Andrew Gaff
That's fine, but what happens when Gaff doesn't react like he has done every other game of his career. Waste of time and energy.
-
Andrew Gaff
I don't think Brayshaw and Gaff shared the same emotions. I don't think AFL teams are going to go after Gaff who only has ever snapped once in 200 games. Nor by the time he plays again anyone will remember/care.
-
Andrew Gaff
Why would Angus be affected or do you mean Andrew? I'm not saying what Gaff did isn't serious or he should get off. I'm just not prepared to call someone who has been a nice level headed guy for his entire career a thug or question his character because of a brain snap. It's how he reacts to this and by all accounts so far you see the remorse. I also share symphathy for the Brayshaw family.

Andrew Gaff
Gaff was a marked man yesterday after the hit and he took it all on the chin and still walked off the ground with his head down.
-
Andrew Gaff
One mistake shouldn't throw away 200 games without incident. Would love him at the club and i'm sure he will face the consequences like a man, like Bugg did.

THE 2018 AFL NATIONAL DRAFT
If we could somehow get Sam Walsh then i'd say lets look at moving a Tyson/Kent on, but if not just look to finding a diamond with what we got.
