Farewell Jesse Hogan
With this offer, Freo is sending a clear message: It will win the next 5 flags with its current list, and that Hogan would merely be surplus, maybe for the bench. Makes sense to me. Better put some money on that Freo 2019 premiership, and get a nice full back tattoo. Of Peter Bell. and Fyfe. Together, in a warm embrace.

LOL. Um, no? Offers like these only really prove that Freo is a powerhouse club, led by a great, tall GM and a smart coach, and filled to the brim with talent... ...Oh, wait.

Feared!!?

The man's not an animal!!! I'd rather play for Freo than be caught wearing the same suit twice (or thrice) over a weekend!

bahaha - absolutely Although, I did once come across a person with the last name '[censored]' - who insisted it was pronounced Coke. We agreed to disagree.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
...Is it just me, or does this scenario seem perfectly set up for: [Jesse Hogan is about to sign at the Dockers, he looks up, and a montage plays in his mind] [Jesse smiles as he reminisces about the good times at the Dees] [Jesse looks to the East...] [Cue music, maybe some cliché 80s love song, or Al Green 'Let's Stay Together', for example] [Jesse gets in his car, and drives cross country through the night, top down, hand tapping on the door] [He arrives in Melbourne, parks the car hurriedly across a few parking spaces, runs across Gosch's Paddock] [Jesse runs towards Goody and the boys, who are also running towards him] [Group hug, tears etc. Goody tells Jesse he never doubted him for a second] [Jesse re-signs for a bajillion years] [We win 5 flags] [Fin]

I've read a lot of speculation re Hogan/May, but, finally, someone that cuts through the crap - and in one sentence! Love your work @Redleg

GREAT NEWS - thanks for sharing. Our 2019 premiership winning team will look fantastic with Hogan in it.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Completely agree. I'd love for him to stay, and am sure he'd add value next year, but if we can maximise our return now and pursue May plus some outside midfield pace, we are in golden era, elite territory.

Thanks Cameron Pedersen
Pedo is the perfect example of making the most of your capabilities. He didn't have the gift of speed/height/skills that some of the other guys do, but he performed when he was called upon, and always gave is all. It's clear that he loves the club, and I'm sure it was better for his presence. I wish him all the luck, seems like a he's a pretty nice guy, and did well to roll with his nickname!

I quite like the look of that forward line!! Agree that the backline is probably a little trickier, Lever's re-introduction will cause some minor structural headaches, and obviously result in someone currently getting games to no longer get those games. Someone will have to go.

Jayden Hunt
Agree with much of the above. He's got heart, he runs hard - but sometimes his execution/decision making has let him down. Some of that could be confidence, and some perhaps injury. Either way, I think that our backline has settled a lot in recent times - and this will help. With a good pre-season, improved fitness and a boost in confidence (fresh start, maybe a premiership team haha), I think Hunt will find a spot in our 22. With our playing style, there will always be a home for fast, driving rebounds from our HB.

And that right there is proof that we've evolved. We're a different beast. We were up by the same margin at 3q as we were in round 18, but the result was much different. We came out and sealed the deal! It wasn't perfect, but we got the job done, and now we get the chance to give it to the Hawks. Go Dees!

The way I see it, we have a choice. Approach the last two games with the old (Ped) - who comes with some risk, as not all of us are convinced that he has what is needed, or that he'll even be here next year. Has he lit things up when he's played this year? I have liked Ped in the past, but I'd argue that he hasn't, or at least hasn't to the extent that contemplating the second option is out of the question, which leads me to option 2... Approach the last two games with the new (Weid) - who also comes with some risk, but his VFL form is decent enough to warrant a go (although admittedly not Earth-shattering). Look, 2 goals would be a great outcome. Hogan has kicked 47 goals in 20 rounds this year, almost all of them against bottom-feeders (I like Hoges, for the record). I'd gladly take 2 against the Eagles. The kid needs to add mass, but he has good hands, reads the ball well and is a good kick. So, we either go with what we know (but have not been impressed with this year), and miss an opportunity to develop talent. Or look to the future. If we don't play the Weid, we just won't know. If we do, and we make the finals, we will have a kid with some confidence, and options for the future. Adding Kent, Melksham etc. will add goals/goal contributions anyway. Option 2 for me.

THIS. I love the crew that pushes for an ousting, then expects some untested kids to do his job. With no proof that they'll actually do it.
