Sam Mitchell made a pretty good career out of being slow, small but having an excellent football brain. Not saying Spargo is comparable to Mitchell but you don’t have to be quick, tall and kick 60m to be a superstar.

It’s heading that way. They are slowly adopting the American (NBA) model, which I think is sensible. Players have too much power at the moment. I think that we’ll ultimately get to: - FA & trade from Monday following Grand Final to prior to first game / bye weekend - Trading of future picks at any time during the trade period - Tradinng of players permitted immediately after you’ve drafted them - Lottery for the top 10 selections in the draft I would also like to see a “waiver” system where you can delist players at any time (you’d have to pay out their contracts) and pick up a free agent (ie someone who has been eligible and nominated for a draft and has been overlooked / delisted). Seems to work in the NBA where few teams are up / down for prolonged (ie MFC) periods of times.

We have the cap space if we wanted to pay Frost the $$$ he was asking. The money which was going towards Elliott could now be offered to Frost but quite simply he’s asking for overs

@picket fence - we get it. You dislike O Mac and think he’s inferior to Frost. I won’t argue on that point. However, @binman and others have posted about the fact: 1. Frost is out of contract and O Mac isn’t. 2. Frost is asking for a lot more than we’re willing to pay. 3. O Mac is probably untradeable (ie no one will want him) or of little value 4. Paying Frost what he wants may mean that we are hamstrung trying to re-contract a large part of our list who are OOC at the end of the year. Would you be happy to pay Frost what he wants knowing that we might struggle to keep those OOC at the end of next season?

Agreed to a point - depending on where the game is (ie opposite wing) it can take an age to get a rotation on the pitch and to communicate it more broadly.

We should settle for no one but the best. Someone who has a great win loss record. We should be targeting Clarkson or Simpson. Anyone else is just another example of Melbourne settling for other clubs rejects again.
