  1. our match committee is having a drunken orgy and has decided to just leave things how they are - well, are we to look askingly for the best forward line in the League (in a week or two with player returns and big name recruits champing at the bit) or are we to see a static and readable team listing acting out a re-hashed style of footy? By such a time in the very near future, Fritta and May will have returned, as well. That will aid the cause: best backline, best midfield, best forward line and most unpredictable game style(s) with the most difficult number of players for opposition coaches to attempt to cover. Change and readiness is everything and it is geared to widespread (as much as possible) bigtime experience. One man, at present is carrying the torch of enlightenment aloft most strikingly: Kozzie. A perfect example of change for the better.
  2. This doube-header, as an act of some programmer's generosity, is a gift too valuable to actually believe. Particularly for Demon supporters. Bottle of Scotch about to be opened and lotsa ice. My Clan scotch - Talisker - (Isle of Skye) , just perfect. Donald where's your troosers?
  3. It already sounds like a pilgrims' trek between two games; such are our loyalties. 'Carna Red'nBlues!
  4. Heaven help Box Hill, I'd reckon. Hope we can generate and sustain some real mongrel.
  5. Lucky bugger. I am stuck in Adelaide for the w/end ... telecast is on for both games, I think... but a very poor second best. Would love to watch and travel between the two venues, can of beer in hand ....
  6. I'd love to see the return of the 'Reserves' teams playing before the 'Firsts' team at the same ground, same day. The atmospheric build-up to the main game was always a super part of a day '...at the footy...'
  7. Ripper news, this double telecast! We are going to see, in succession, Casey and then the AFL game against the Hawks. Demon supporters have much to glean from both sides - particularly at this point of the season. Recoveries from injuries, depth of form, present and future challenges and potentials, mongrel pride and its contagion across 'our' two teams, all including an opportunity to expand out insights into the team we love - the Mighty Demons! Big weekend, good opposition, both a great chance for sewing the ragged hem of a footy season ahead.
  8. This is how I would tackle the loss of Fritta and May. But, I would add Petty to the mix, decrease the smalls by one 'utility' type, continue to use Jackson across the fwd line as a utility and ruck chop out with Gawn, and Daw up front/back and flanking ruck. MBrown in as ffwd. Jordan and Chandler - or Bedford - across the ground from the bench.
  9. For Jordan, it is his time to shine - he's got the goods.
  10. Sensible, probable, appropriate.
  11. Very big out. Bring in Daw as a forward; if proving to be below form, throw him into the backline and reverse roles with Petty (who should start a fullback. TMac must lift, once again, as a forward. Consider BBrown on the bench at first and then on in short rotations. Forget Weidemann, he ain't going to do it. Mitch Brown could come in - he can mark, lead to space(s), kick 'em; he can rotate with BB if necessary. Game on, carry on.
  12. Long live mongrel. Kozzie has it.
  13. Healey was a true champion's champion, particularly just before he was tempted by Sydney to re-locate. He was doing magical things in the forward line - an immense talent at that point.
  14. You give the AFL arbiter too much credit - he is not a thorough thinker, let alone a smart man.Ex-Filth, I believe.
  15. Crimson and clover!
  16. Mongrel takes a team far over the horizon and into the big smoke.
  17. Alves, Robbie and Stingar were elite, well above what we see now. I do feel that Langdon is getting there rather quickly now, just a little more success to come.
  18. I also see this in our 'yet to be implemented new forward line' with BB and Fritta, Weid and MB, and including the larger untaggable Majak Daw (if used up front correctly). An absolute nightmare for any opposition teams to tag or 'cover', particularly as this brigade and improving and fresh smalls is also creating havoc on the good side of the midfield. Canardly wait! Never forget the Bruce/Green connection ... a prime example of the 'best' combo for several years.
  19. That is what made Tulip and Stan so effective - they owned the territory to which they were assigned - and no other player was welcome. Both could run to where they wanted to play the ball - and did so impreccably.
  20. Pity about them not keeping their fists and elbows in check, as well.
  21. Agreed, it's wonderful and makes a great change. However, it has been recognised by DL contributors for years, and years, and years as a necessary matter for improvement and accuracy. Why it was not attended to in the recent and longer-term past is beyond belief (correct me if I am wrong, but it is FOOTball, is it not?). Both Chocko and Yze must be responsible and I include Yze in this as he was a far better kick himself than Chocko ever was. Yet another highlighted area of supporter concern, that had been largely ignored, is passing. Wonder what is next? Exciting times are ahead...
  22. Carlton Draft makes a good swallow.
  23. If there are hospitable area managers and there is sufficient space for a real stadium for football, Caulfield could be a very good option for a 'home'. Transport, major highways, parking.
  24. It is difficult to comment on Oscar, such is the sentiment of DL contributors to his game and successive performances. We all wish him well at another club but our combined consciousness reduces our ongoing confidence in his game both now and in the future. At present, it does look like we are a 3-goal, better side without him.
  25. Nope, not worth it. The player is good but we are good, too - just a bit better.
