  1. The capacity for clubs to get caught up in sales pitches from folk who promote things that are not evidence based (or driven by someone who is not operating from an evidence base) in the name of getting 'an edge' - astounds me - as its at the expense of duty of care. It also astounds me that they don't do their due diligence, or do and go ahead with these things anyway. Reap what you sow...
  2. I think the issue is less with Lever - and more with opposition coaches isolating him - and therefore the coaching staff of Melbourne being about to work through the tactical challenges of the isolation and getting him back to the 3rd man up role. Kinda like, don't shoot the messenger - he's doing his role, and perhaps Goodwin et al could give the bloke a chop out. He's not here to mind Gorilla's, yet has been isolated in round 1 (granted Esava was a first gamer... but can seriously play). He'll be worth the coin.. and just like every 10 years, we look back a go - [censored] me, that wasn't actually a lot of money compared to now... kinda like houses on the coast
  3. AND Like Schrodingers Cat - he is both dead and alive (to Melbourne Supporters)
  4. It's great the games are tight this year... anyway back to JW... Hinkley and co - knows Jack does very few contested things... he wasn't brought in for that (although that clearly matters to Goodwin) - Watts is there for the spine (as someone pointed out yesterday) and also for the silk - which he has always had... he'll be a good fit for them... its irrelevant what anyone in the football public think of Jack and his softness (rightly or wrongly) - he is not there as a power forward and he is not a 'bull' - he is someone who they got to jag goals and help on the spread...heaven knows the Dee's need a few outside runners now (where are you J Gysberts).
  5. Ahhh, I only got to watch it from about 20 seconds before wagers tackle... if you've got a link -- id love it.
  6. 1. Wagners tackle on Selwood 2. Wagners tackle on Selwood 3. Wagners tackle on Selwood
  7. The opposite of love isn't hate - its apathy - and I can see there is still so so soooo much love for Jack on this forum... keep kicking goals Jack, for you are the gift that keeps on giving! And my own personal view is - 10 years into his career - Jack needed a change of team (environment, culture, coach, teammates) for him to give himself the opportunity to be more consistent. It was never to happen within the team of Melbourne - the factors that drive the inconsistent behaviours are well spoken about, from development and support, but its not MELBOURNE as an entity that did this, its a range of individuals over a decade, including Jack himself .
  8. Can this thread (and thread title) be used for all Jack Watts related correspondence for the rest of his career? Just your one stop shop for all Jack Watts.

The interesting part for me was Jackson's comment that, "only one real offer was made, and that in itself says something."
  10. @stevethemanjordan - Agreed with all of this, and enjoy most of your posts...
  11. It may have been mentioned before on the thread (and certainly I am repeating myself to myself) - I genuinely think he is as talented and will be as durable as Shaun Burgoyne.

  17. I also knew a player when I saw one- J Gysbersts vs the cats - what a gun... alas, I was wrong...
  18. I hope the commentators are right with their allusions to 'think Boomer Harvey' due to his stature... I can also think of Ben Ken, David Bain, Robin Nahas and maybe Ricky Jackson Welcome kid.
  19. I'd concur, he came good at Carlton - I'd love Stinga, and he got too injured too frequently to really be consistent unfortunately, (does anyone else remember the time in WA where he side stepped to eagles players (one ready to shirt front) and they collected one another...could have been the same game as a chris lewis bite...but hey I'm sure its not and I'm throwing all my WA memories into one basket...
  20. That's much like me - I hear from some sources Im a bit of a [censored].. but others think Im ok... and yet the FD decided to go for him with all their resources and business acumen... wowsers F.L.O.G was censored... amusing stuff indeed
  21. ahhh me neither...
  22. can you tweet @texwalker13 please
  23. I disagree with this notion, correlation doesn't equal causation - I think they're mutually exclusive events... For all the players that have left Adelaide - there are plenty that stay even when they're not in their state of origin. I would love the stats over the last 7 years (Gen Z's and Millenials) of how many who are not playing in their home state, have requested trades back home, vs those that haven't. Further, (and this is one of my biggest gripes) - for those who post on here that players who want to go home are 'soft' etc etc - family, friends, lifestyle just about always trumps working for an organisation when its based interstate - be it football or otherwise.
  24. Please explain...
