He is cheap, more mature, he now wishes he didn't leave, is over his injuries, and Weid has failed compared to what we thought he would achieve back then. Also doesn't get out marked or pushed under the ball

She wouldn't have to beg me too much

Let's for a second imagine Dogga is gone. We are still in our premiership window. Max is 31 next season. Tmac and BB are getting injured or playing sore more often. Weid isn't up to it. JVR is still developing. We have massive holes up forward and now also in the ruck when Max gets injured or needs a break. Established forwards and rucks aren't falling out of trees. As long as the pies are picking up some if the bill, then its a no brainer. Dogga isn't better than Grundy in terms of output anyhow, its an upgrade in the short to medium term.He is a way better mark and ruck

The only stat the pies really won was conversion rate, chill everyone

You are assuming they think

Their one trick is working pretty well unfortunately

MCC have this as a priority 2 game so don't think it will get close to a sell out ... they are pretty good at judging these things

Melbourne & Mark Neeld: It Wasn’t All Bad
Demons1858 replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes, l recall that vividly, it was the night my son was born and my wife held on long enough for me to see the whole game after she broke her water ... -
Other option is tommo to play back line and petty to move forward
-
Interesting praise in the vfl report on JVR - very competative and rarely gets outmarked ... need some more of that in the AFL
-
So he doesn't retire and is trades for pick 9999 .... although Hodge did it ... he was born in melb and lived in a bunch of places before parents settled in WA permanently
-
We know we should look for a key forward with years of footy ahead of them in the trade period as a priority ... other than McStay does anyone know of one that is available? Correct, there isn't one and we may not be able to afford one. So how do we get a forward line that can improve our changes of winning a flag next season whether Jacko leaves or not? I would wait for Josh Kennedy to retire (as he has announced he will do) entice him to the Dees on a reduced salary in the hope of getting a free kick at a flag. No significant draft picks would be needed. He is originally from Melbourne. He is still kicking 2 goals a game and I'm sure at MFC he would benefit from better inside 50 numbers and delivery. What's to lose? Kennedy vs some pick in the late 70's to round out out list? Do we really want to rely on the form of Weid?

Grundy (28 yrs old) would be perfect to maximise our window as premiership contenders while we develop / recruit a junior ruck to be ready in 4/5 years time ... I feel Max's body will pack it in (with little notice) at some point given the issues he has had with his knees and then what do we do without a capable plan B? If Grundy is mostly in the ruck, next years forward line could be: Max, plus two of BB/Tom Mac or JVR (as the 3rd tall only where he can fly across the pack with potentially an undersized opponent and not have to do the grunt work). The JVR move might even happen this season when BB returns as a 3rd tall option to replace 'Melk' as the hybrid tall.

If you watch Sparrow closely after his goal in the GF he raises both hands to the side of his head and twinkles his fingers ... was that the devil sign also and what does it represent for the team?
-
The club hasn't really got a choice ... when a player leaves the club typically find out in trade week not in the lead up to finals so they have to wait anyhow
-
l will be amazed if it happens more so
-
Spot on, have never seen such a blessed run of injuries in 2021... our biggest issue this week was the fixture ... 6 vs 8 day break returning from the NT ... expecting more pain by the end of the year given the run home
-
Listen, l know Luke is a great pospect etc etc. l also look at the fact that players who can't take one grab marks generally go through their careers without improving a hell of a lot. Undersized rucks that ruck most of the day and rely on their leap also struggle to compete week in week out. So l can see some positive in getting some draft picks in while clubs want ton trade on potential but obviously we have to find support for max quickly which is the challenge
-
Hes been shown many times already, goody even called it out in a press conference ... just doesn't want to impact each contest ... unfortunately we have to accept that he is a soft nice player with amazing talent ... and won't change
-
When you bottom out you have to be careful to leave enough older leaders that they can follow to understand the culture and standards. Mfc made the same mistakes. Otherwise you are waiting 5 years for the kids to have the presence and confidence to build and support it themselves which has too many risks attached to it ... guys like BB and Tarrant should still be there helping the team on field and off field
-
Agree, look what happened to our result's when May went all in at Entrecote. You wouldn't dismiss it as an option though within a must win game and we need a spark, likewise May moving forward
-
l would prefer they put their hand out and retract it just as the opposition accepts the offer ... in the end its a players decision ... l don't think it would suit viney but can see petracca doing it and still staying focused
-
Of course you pick him up, you would get him pretty much for free and he is an upgrade on weid and m brown ... anyone know any others mature key forwards that would come almost free and be in our starting 22? McStay is looking at $600k for god sake
