Looks like this thread is going to go around in circles until either Jesse or the club come out and say something. If it drags out till this time next year I can see about 10,000 threads.

I'd be inclined to give up Dunn and next years first rounder.

His contracted for next year so doesn't have to give us an answer. Guess the annoying thing here is that Jesse indicated he was looking at another contract with us only to put contract talks on hold for only reasons he knows.

Wonders never cease with the AFL. We tanked, AFL found us not guilty, they still fined us 500K and basically paid it for us.

I too think that the AFL got it wrong when they didn't offer us a PP. In 2012 we won 4, in 2013 we won 2, in 2014 we had 4 wins. That's 10 wins in three years. In comparison Brisbane has won 14 games in the past three years. Not sure how the AFL can justify Brisbanes request considering ours was rejected.

Further to that the academies and also free agency are making it bloody tough for Vic clubs who are trying to build a list.

How true. The academies are a joke. They were introduced when one or two players were drafted from NSW and QLD every year. We now call it a national game so get rid of the bloody things.

Shows where this mob is at as a club. Cant see how a PP will help them especially one at about pick 20.

Gut feel tell me Fyfe will play out his career at Freo. Pending retirements will give plenty of cap space. No too many WA players who play for a WA club leave.

I have no doubt at all that if Jesse leaves we will be compensated having said that what is fair compensation??? Jesse is a tall forward, only 21, rising star winner, has a better record than most tall stars of the game at the same age and someone you can build your team around. Were compensated with draft picks - it's a lottery. Were compensated with picks and players. Once again draft is a lottery and players are not going to be near Jesses quality. Even if we're compensated with say Neal from Freo, yea his a gun but not a tall young forward who could be that once in a generation player. So bottom line if Jesse leaves we will get screwed.

I honestly can't see a PP helping out the Lions. They can't hold onto players. I also found it interesting that Rockliff and Hanley didn't go on their end of season trip. Those two went on a holiday together. Not good form by two players who are supposed to be leaders. Maybe try help the club as a whole not by giving them one player.

Looks like Buckley trying to save his career by topping up. Having said that Collingwood didn't have the best run with injuries this year. The trade for Fevola ended up having a big influence in finishing off Voss. As for Hird, never liked him as a player, personality or coach. Maybe because I've always hated Essendon.

No doubt we are in a better bargaining position this year than we will be next year. For starters Freo has pick three this year. From memory we got pick 17 for Farmer and a similar pick for Thompson. I think the days of us being bullied at the trade table are long gone.

If this goes into next year it will take away so much from our club. Instead of a reported asking Goodwin about our performances it will be "how Jesses contract negotiations going". Im honestly sick of it. It was Frawley a few years back. Before that Scully, before that Farmer, before that Thompson and so on.

Agree.... Jesse stated many months ago he would look at another deal. He then placed all this on hold.
