Brodie Kemp (drafted by Carlton)
I want him in our team too though. ?

Tom Green (Drafted by GWS Giants)
I believe GWS want Greenās brother next year too, canāt see them not taking Green this year. I believe GWS have probably done a deal with the Dees, otherwise why release their pick trade now? By releasing the pick trade now, instead of waiting until the Dees made their pick on trade night, they have let us know that we are the only team that can bid on Green. As others have pointed out, itās a massive waste of a trade if GWS are going to match any bid on Green, which makes me believe that they know we are not going to bid on Green, or they donāt care if we do. Guess weāll find out in 8 days ?

Rowell or Anderson?
Every media report Iāve heard/read has stated that GC have already picked Rowell and Anderson. The AFL would not let GC not pick the two, picking two best mates was the excuse the AFL and GC āsoldā to the public/media. Can you imagine how bad the AFL would look if GC changed their mind, the AFL will take away the rest of the concessions given to them in that instance.

Hayden Young (Drafted by Fremantle)

- Brodie Kemp (drafted by Carlton)
In under 12-16ās maybe. Highlights are from U18ās NAB cup etc, heās playing against other elite kids who are a similar size and development. He might look taller when playing in the midfield because heās 193cm, playing against some that are only 178cm etc. ?- WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON
Iām guessing he has Freo taking Jackson. Iād take Ash in that draft guess, with a Kemp gone- Road to the draft with Jason Taylor
Robertson is another in and under midfielder, I donāt see him being that brilliant that we canāt not pick him, just more of what we have. Iāve been in Youngās camp at 3, nothingās changed that. At 8 Iāve been interested in Kemp or Ash, but I wouldnāt be to unhappy with Jackson if they believe he can impact as a forward. Only 28 more days to guess ??- Phantom Drafts
23/1/01 191cm/89kg NSW-ACT/GWS Academy Midfielder September ranking: 5 The thing with Green is that his performances stack up. As one recruiter said recently, if Green was playing in the NAB League and not tied to an Academy, he would have been spoken about more as a No.1 pick contender. His performances for the Allies, leading his side in the midfield against highly rated stars each game, and his consistency for the GWS Academy team, adds weight to his efforts. A tall, big-bodied, strong and hard-headed midfielder who goes and wins the footy and gets it out. Likely to attract a very early bid for the Giants to match. Based on the above, and if you were going to take best available, I think weād have to seriously look at him. Personally I think Young might suit our needs more then Green, but if he has the potential to be the next Cripps, can you pass him up? From everything Iāve read though, GWS will match any bid on him, and his brother next year too.- Dees poach Port data analyst
- Splitting Draft Pick 3
I hope heās a nuffy who has no idea what heās talking about then. ?- Brodie Kemp (drafted by Carlton)
And we have another month to keep guessing. ? I donāt know enough about the kids to pick, only what Iāve read, but I do like the idea of having an elite kick coming out of the back half to set up attacks though. I actually think Kemp will slip through to our pick 8, just donāt know if weāll pick him. ??āāļø?- Brodie Kemp (drafted by Carlton)
If GWS are forced to match a bid for Green, it only leaves Adelaide, Sydney and Fremantle to bid on Kemp. Adelaide might prefer one of the SA boys and Freo might look at Ash or Stevens after losing Langdon and Hill. Sydney might look at Sarong if the Crows donāt take him with the plan to replace Papley next year?- Splitting Draft Pick 3
Nope, prefer to keep 3 & 8 and use on Young and Kemp/Ash- Poll: Who do you want with our first two picks?
I listened to an Interview with Young, he stated that they (team he plays in) have given him time in the midfield but that he sees his best footy at halfback and believes thatās where he is suited to and where he sees himself playing at AFL level. Thatās not to say that the club doesnāt believe that he might push into the midfield, or that he might decide that heād like to get into the midfield after a preseason or two.- Phantom Drafts
I think the old rule about not taking a halfback top 5ish is just that, old school. Look at the amount of teams that set up their attack from halfback these days, they say Young is arguably the best kick in the draft, good decision maker and can intercept mark. Iām looking at him replacing Jetta or Hibberd in the future and setting up a lot of our attacks. ? Iām only going off the few highlights and draft reports though. ??āāļø- Poll: Who do you want with our first two picks?
- Splitting Draft Pick 3
Iād love Anderson, but considering GCās main argument for being given pick 2 was to pick Anderson, who is good mates with Rowell, canāt see it happening.- Brodie Kemp (drafted by Carlton)
I know some on here hate stats, but I thought Iād compare Spargo and Papleyās 2018 season since a few really wanted Papley. They were actually quite even. Papley played 20 games and avg - 1.2 goal, 1.1 behinds, 219.9mtrs at 68.8% efficiency. Spargo played 18 games and avg - 0.8 goal, 0.5 behinds, 172.4mtrs at 76.2% efficiency. They were the main stats, I know there's the whole momentum killer debate on Spargo, but Iām happy giving him a chance to cement a fwd role next year.- Caleb Serong (Drafted by Fremantle)
Young is mainly a halfback as I understand, in an interview he stated they pushed him up into the midfield but he believes his best footy is at halfback and thatās where he sees himself playing. I see him as our future replacement for either Jetta or Hibberd and would pick him over Serong. (Disclaimer: Personal opinion and choice obviously and I can only go on what Iāve read and highlights as I havenāt seen any of the kids play in person ?)- Brodie Kemp (drafted by Carlton)
Iād bid on Green at 3, GWS will match the bid, then Iād take Young at ā4ā, elite kick and future replacement for either Jetta or Hibberd. With GWSā pick 6 now moving to 3 and the rest dropping down one, only leaves Adelaide (5), Sydney (6) or Freo (7) that can pick Kemp before our pick 8, Iād be happy with taking the risk and picking Kemp. I wouldnāt be unhappy with Ash at 8 if still available either. ??āāļø- Splitting Draft Pick 3
Why? If we bid on Green and GWS match it, that will technically move their pick 6 to 3 whilst picks 3, 4 and 5 will move down a spot to 4, 5 and 6. Picks 7 and above will still stay exactly where they are.- Are we plotting a late heist?
From what Iāve read heās highly rated and itās believed GWS will match any bid on him. Not fussed if we donāt risk it though and take Young with our first pick - Brodie Kemp (drafted by Carlton)
