Cats Set for More Games at The Cattery
titan_uranus replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
It’s the right call. Everyone should play there. -
I like it. All I hear is that this year’s draft is strong and next year’s isn’t. If we want to do something whilst we still have Gawn and May (…and Trac and Clarry…), it’s better to hit this year’s draft than wait to next year’s. The picks after 40 aren’t worth enough to us so it makes sense to release them as steak knives.

This is Matthew Lloyd, not Sam McClure for once.

I reckon this is a good call from us. I think the foundations are there with Sharp for him to make it as a quality wing/half-forward. A risk worth taking IMO.
-
If there’s any truth to the rumour that he’s open to a pay cut if it facilitates a trade, that can only mean one of two things: 1. His manager has to have a long talk to him about why that’s insane. He deserves, and needs, every dollar we’ve promised him. He is not someone who should be reckless with his earnings right now. 2. Geelong is offering to make him a Cotton On ambassador or some other dodgy [censored].

Ben Brown’s on Trade Radio, talking about our year and the club generally:
-
Yep. There’s little to no chance IMO that Campbell and Gawn line up in the same side.

Anyone who can kick moves the needle for us. Houston's a current two-time AA. Grundy was a historical two-time AA. The blessing in disguise isn't because Houston's not that good; he is. It's because we would have been pressured/required to trade pick 6 to get him. Carlton and Collingwood have picks outside the top 10, which are easier to trade away for a player like Houston.

Texans, Steelers, Falcons

I’m fairly confident that post you quoted is made up…

IIRC kids went free to this year’s WC game. Although we do tend to get bigger crowds earlier in the year with the better weather and the optimism.

35,000! That would be a win if it happened. We’ve had the Dogs at the G in Round 1 three years in a row. Might happen again?

Whilst there are plenty of jokes to be made, I strongly encourage everyone to complete the survey and give your honest views. If you don’t like the club’s comms, this is your chance to say so. If you don’t like seating arrangements, this is your chance to say so. I’d also encourage you to focus on the good things where you find them - for me, the New Balance sponsorship is a positive for the club. I like their products and I think they properly invest in their football merch.

Silly comparison. Campbell’s been playing one position - ruck - for 12 years. Tomlinson came to us as a jack of all trades and if he had form on a wing it was fleeting. Grundy we all know wasn’t a forward. Once again, the question on Campbell isn’t whether he’s the right type of player to add to our list. He’s precisely what we’re after, a ruckman who can be the number one ruck if required. The only question is whether he’s the best option for that role. His VFL form this year suggests he’s at least in the conversation.

Sorry, completely missed your first sentence somehow. No idea who the other FAs are - perhaps none. I was otherwise agreeing with you - FA compo pushes picks back but f/s and academy picks don’t, as those players aren’t on the market.
-
It’s been genuinely pushed back though by the Battle, Perryman and Cumming compo picks though. More FAs might mean more compo pushes it back further.
