I see this and, at first, thought it was silly... however, I'm kind of understanding where most are coming from now. We've been totally short changed in all of this, and it has nothing to do with us. We didn't break the rules. We didn't force the game to be postponed. And now, we're potentially going to have to play a game at a different time (during the week or after the main season altogether) and suffer because of it. While my care factor for this season is the lowest it's been for any season I've experienced, I'd like to see something done about this, whether that's an automatic four points for us, or something else.

You're not doing it right, OX. It needs to be: Gee Rowell is a gun. I can't believe we didn't trade all of our picks this year and next to get pick one so we could draft him. What a missed opportunity from us again. On the other hand, the Crows are absolutely pathetic. One goal to three quarter time against the reigning wooden spooners.

I think you've just got indigestion.

And so we should be. We're guaranteed a win.

Every game is a marvellous opportunity for injuries. I'd rather they play this intra club game - one that has pretty much the whole list involved and therefore contributing positively to match fitness, game plan etc - than to play nothing at all.
-
Any chance future seasons can also go ahead without them... ?

Just check most of the other threads. I'm sure you'll find one in there.

With the back line keeping them scoreless, you would think votes will go there. Lever a standout.
-
Positives: No turnovers. Backline kept the opposition scoreless. May and Lever anchored us well. Hussle around the packs and pressure from the mids and forwards didn't allow them to touch the ball at all. Bombers are absolute knobs. Negatives: Conor McKenna. We didn't score. We struggled again with that mid forward connection and couldn't get the ball inside 50 once. Tom McDonald to cop it again this week after not clunking a single mark. Thoughts?

I didn't think I could hate Essendon much more than I already do. I was wrong.

Word is that our game gets postponed but that the rest of the season, for now, will continue. I'm relieved as I get a weekend off from the nerves and I can laugh at teams like Richmond without fear of reprisal.

Spot on, Pennant. How many people were still bemoaning our lack of good, defensive players even when we made the prelim? Heaps. So what do we do? We added Lever prior to that season and managed quite well without him. Then, when Hogan agitates to leave (and I'm sure we were happy to oblige), we turn that into Steven May. Tom McDonald was fresh off a 50 goal season, Weideman had just had a terrific finals series and we were looking the goods. Things haven't panned out how we wanted since then, but you can't blame the club for fixing what many believed was our main deficiency - defence.

I've knocked McKernan before, but the bloke kicked 4 against us last year. He might be lol against other sides, but he's Tony Lockett against us.
-
Possibly, although they recruited him to play on a wing, so I'd think they would leave him there. It would seem strange to move him after just two rounds. I could see him giving Gawn a chop out in the ruck, but I don't think that sees him playing forward. With T Mac, Fritsch, Hannan, AVB, Trac, Melk etc all capable of plucking a mark and providing a contest, I don't see the need for Tomlinson to play forward. I think they'll go small and look to cause some chaos inside 50.

Is it actually going to be that wet on Sunday? They're predicting a few showers, but I hardly think that constitutes a definite 'wet weather' game on the weekend.
-
I like the selections - while I get the feeling we might be a little short in the forward line, I think we have the run to go with the Bombers and as long as we compete well in the air, then we have the mid and small forwards who can mop up and do some damage at ground level. Really excited to see what Kozzie can do on the G, while it's great to have both AVB and Hannan back in the side and over their respective injuries.

I'm finding that Kent doesn't like to let the facts get in the way of a good story.
-
I disagree. I'd say they've lost a bit of patience with him, not faith. They clearly want to see certain things from him before coming back into the side, and that includes kicking 5 in a scratch match against the worst Carlton has to offer.
-
Fair point, bing. I kind of like the fact that they are happy to give players a decent run before dropping them, particularly if they're a young kid. The only reason I'm surprised is that we struggled big time with our tall targets last week, and with both Hooker and Hurley playing this week, I thought they might try and go for a more experienced body to ensure neither player is allowed to zone off and take a heap of intercept marks.

I'm currently watching it on Kayo, so it should be there somewhere.
-
He did last weekend so I'd wager that he might this weekend as well.
-
To be fair, he just won the footy, took a few steps and kicked the ball into a teammate, so the old Frost hasn't completely disappeared.
-
I can't believe he still gets a gig. He has been the worst commentator for years. Talks absolute rubbish.
-
One of two things are happening: Either the Weid, somehow, has indicated his intention to be traded at the end of the year so we aren't bothering to play him, or we're making him really earn a spot back in the side. Some might say that having Jackson, who hasn't set the world alight, in the side is a bit of a slap in the fact, but the bloke has been given his chances. Perhaps they've told him that to hit some sort of benchmarks in games before they consider him for the senior side?
-
Would it? Picking the side is tough - you want players in form, but you also want players who can perform to the highest level. On their day, Jones and Melksham (I won't include the talls as they play different roles) are better players than ANB and give us far more around the ground. Nibbler might have kicked a few but he didn't do much else outside that, plus he was a late inclusion for Kozzie so he was out of the side really anyway. You pick a side that you think will win you the game. You don't always get it right, but I don't think it comes down to 'culture'.
