  1. We've won NAB Cup games before, looked pretty good, competitive etc and then been flogged come Round 1. I'm not saying we'll come out and win in Round 1 but I don't buy the childish, over the top reactions to one NAB Cup game either.
  2. Not denying it's mediocre. I just don't buy in to all the over the top reactions to it. It's the NAB Cup. When we get flogged and we are struggling by about Round 4 THEN I'll be worried. Until then I'll just mark it down as a bad night at the office and wait and see how we respond when the real stuff starts.
  3. Stop talking sense rhaz, it's not welcome when it's wrist slashing time...
  4. You are probably right, but clearly the players think they are better than what we are at the minute. I'm looking forward to seeing what Roos has to say about it too.
  5. I love these threads after a loss. Rather than posting it in the actual thread you think your thoughts are more important and need a thread of their own.
  6. Perfect thing for us. A huge wake up call before the season has begun. Roos will go bananas and it will give the team a huge reality check.
  7. They are, understandably, playing a very defensive style while trying to hit us on the break which has now worked a few times. We are killing them around the ground but not doing enough when they get a break going forward.
  8. He is a very nice kick of the footy!
  9. It's a no win situation really - if we lose we get hammered for it, if we win then we get the "they just played half an Essendon side" line. Outside of practicing the gameplan there is little in the game for us tonight.
  10. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/st-kilda-to-trial-new-pre-game-routine-for-players-in-bid-to-improve-game-day-experience/story-fni5f9q3-1227268392584 They are trying to improve their game day experience. They seemed to have forgotten that winning is the only way to do that.
  11. I'm touching wood as I type this, but in a selfish way I'm stoked that it's not us. There has been crap flying everywhere this off season and we have stayed away from it for a change which is excellent.
  12. It was a very weird angle from purple. Lumumba had done nothing wrong so it was a non-story before it began. Waste of time.
  13. That's harsh from Dermie. The kid is still raw, everybody knows he'll need time.
  14. I was joking mate, shouldn't have been so subtle!
  15. The Saints are a mess. No Riewoldt makes them look even worse.
  16. Do I need to put a copyright on it then mate?
  17. All fair points Colin. I'm stating the obvious here but the difference is obviously how the club was run back in Bailey's time compared to now. It's light and day, but we already know that. I agree that we don't need to go over the top in how we view the club, it was more a comment on sitting back and enjoying yet another player showing some faith in the club. While neither he nor Brayshaw have set the world on fire yet, or barely played any games, they are two guys who show promise, a strong work ethic and a willingness to get behind the club. It can only be a good thing.
  18. With all due respect I don't know why this even needs to be said. Why can't we just be happy and content that another kid who shows promise has signed on for the future? We seemingly want to pick holes in everything these days, no matter how positive the news is. With everything that's happened over the last few years it's refreshing, and relieving, to see these kids showing faith in where the club is headed. I don't really mean to direct this at you Colin, just that your post stuck out to me in this case.
  19. I think we'll get a fair idea come Friday night when the squad has been cut to 22. I totally agree with the above, in that 9 doesn't go into 6. Outside of the 3 givens you mentioned you could still make a case for all 6 of those players being in the side. Howe will obviously miss at least Round 1, and if you push Lumumba into the midfield and possibly play Frost forward it means Salem plays across half back. It is, however, a nice problem to have for once. We aren't giving games to players who don't deserve it any more which is terrific.
  20. Another one signed. This bodes very well for the club going forward - love that he had no hesitation in signing on and already loves the club. Quotes like those can only put a smile on your face.
  21. Settled is a good word to use. No injuries from last week means we only need to bring in Pedersen as the third forward which is terrific. And while I would have loved to have seen Brayshaw being given a run I'm just as happy not to - it shows we don't need to push them too hard. A month of terrific footy at Casey will hold him in good stead going forward.
  22. You would hope so. He still needs to have, at the very least, a good season in the TAC Cup to get drafted. But he is certainly another potential midfielder we can add to our group going forward which can only be a positive.
  23. I wasn't, although I believe the club didn't get the results until September, so that probably explains it.
  24. Apparently he tested positive after the Rd. 17 game and was allowed to continue playing for the rest of the year which also included 2 finals. That's poor from the AFL. If he goes for 2 years you would think his career is well and truly over as he will be 33 when the ban would finish.
