WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB – JAKE MELKSHAM
I would take him, but two very obvious things make me nervous about this move: 1. WADA - if he cops a 2 year ban that would be a disastrous pick up, surely the club are all over this, but who knows 2. Trade Value - if we are offering him a 4 year deal, Essendon are well within their right to ask for our second rounder if we rate him that highly, and knowing Essendon, they will probably want more to begin with

When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?
The 2 in a row is a big one for me. So many times we have a win, and it seems to breed some sort of complacency. This is a winnable game, but St Kilda apply a huge amount of pressure, so hopefully we don't go to water. Playing at the G instead of Etihad is a big plus for us as well.

Delistings/trades at end of the season
Not to mention, that if he does leave, his trade value plummets massively if he is rotting the season away at Casey

Echo. Sorry, accidentally copied you and said the same thing.

Delistings/trades at end of the season
I know where you are coming from, and I'm not trying to say Howe was amazing today, but show me a player at Casey who could play near as well as Howe did today?

Delistings/trades at end of the season
Wouldn't it be all so much easier if we could get our hands on the all knowing file that grades all players A through to F, would make recruiting so much easier.

Delistings/trades at end of the season
I am actually more intrigued by the rookie list situation. The senior list delistings are reasonably obvious, but all the guys on the rookie list have shown enough to warrant more time you would think, so will be interesting to see how they juggle it. Obviously vandenBerg is a shoe in for the senior list.

What a great first post, I had the Ultimate Warrior's entrance song running through my head as I started reading it.

Delistings/trades at end of the season
Am I the only one that thinks Grimes has been pretty good this year since he came back into the team? My early predictions (I haven't read the contract thread so a couple could be wrong): DELIST McKenzie, Bail, M.Jones, Fitzpatrick, Terlich, Hunt UP FOR TRADE (realistically trade 2 or 3 of this group, but most of these will have at least some currency, and would clear some cap space) Dawes, Watts, Howe, Toumpas RETIRE (maybe 1 more year from Cross) Jamar

Aaron vandenBerg
Loving his work so far. Looks like he still has improvement left in him in terms of his fitness, and given that he is coming off 1 half AFL pre-season, that is exciting rather than worrying.

Jay Kennedy-Harris
It is hard not to like Bob Murphy. And as a footballer, there is hardly a better kick in the comp, he rarely turns it over even under pressure.

That was tougher than it should have been, but we are there and that is all that matters

Jack Watts
If Jack thinks he has it tough from the Melbourne fans, he would be shocked to hear what other clubs' supporters think of him. Melbourne fans stuck up for him a lot in the early years especially.

Commentators
My Rundown On Commentary Duds FOX FOOTY Alastair Lynch - looks like he is going to pass out everytime he tries to construct a sentence, is a complete meathead Tony Shaw - has no idea about modern day football, some of his comments I would laugh at if he wasn't serious Danny Frawley - apart from being part of the worst scripted show on television in After The Bounce, he also has little clue Dwayne Russell - this bloke has about 10 sentences in his arsenal and can somehow manage to commentate 2 hours of footy using nothing but those sentences CHANNEL 7 BT - the other guys in the box want to talk footy, but this boof head just wants to crap on like they are sitting back at the pub watching the game on tv. If you want to go down the comedy route surely there are a million people who are funnier and know more about footy than this dunce Brett Kirk - harsh on Kirky as I love him, but he just sounds far too scripted, could almost imagine him doing a Ron Burgundy off the teleprompter if someone played a joke on him...I'm Brett Kirk? Any Current Player Drafted Into Friday Night Coverage - if I flick on the footy on Friday night and am greeted by Nick Maxwell's punchable head holding a microphone one more time, I am turning it off

Blazer Glory
I like it. Don't have to be stuck in the past to appreciate the tradition of the club.

CYCLING
Loved the galibier stage when he realised he wasn't going to get any help chasing Andy Schleck and just took control. One by one rode them off his wheel, until only a couple could go with him. Cut 2 minutes off AS's lead and kept himself in contention.
-
CYCLING
Bloody oath. The other years he was in contention he was nowhere near as strong as he was this year. He was the strongest this year and put in some massive efforts, especially in the alps when it looked like it might have been slipping away.

The Soccer thread
Ramos is a great pick up for spurs, i believe probs one the top managers over the past few years, has achieved a lot with sevilla. But i do remember all u spurs fans getting excited about jacques santini, so we will wait and see
