  1. Bbb is a wild card. A fit a firing Bbb would make a world of difference but I feel he's a long shot. (Tmac even much longer). Therefore playing Petty forward seems like a fait accompli. So Turner full-time is a good fit but is Tommo a better option? Would love to see what Jefferson airplane can do but maybe he needs more time at Casey. Besides Max probably needs some help in Fullerton playing. Can Fullerton be a forward for us? I'm not fully sold on Laurie as yet but here's hoping he has a stellar season. I wish we had found a proven big forward to replace an aging Tmac and Bbb. We have to hope Petty' s body is up to the job. It will be exciting for sure if it is. He hasn't really had much time forward but the game when he kicked those six goals shows he could be the next dominant ff for us. I have high hopes for Jvr this season too. He has come a long way in a short amount of time. A lot to look forward to this season. I feel confident of playing finals again.
  2. Gus is a big game player. He smashed the 21 granny and on that basis losing him was a huge factor in losing against Pies. Also the inexperienced Laurie as the sub was not a good selection IMHO.
  3. I'm still angry about this whole " event." I'm convinced that we would have won that game if this deliberate act didn't occur. Collingwood won a final from pure thuggery. Nothing new. Then got lucky with an incredibly bad umpiring call in the dying stages of the grand final. So much noise about us losing in straight sets when the real story was a known dirty player took out one of our best. Nothing new. And now we get a delayed, vague attempt after the act by the Afl to somehow try and show they care. Too little, too late. Nothing new. If it wasn't the greatest game in the world, I would try and find an alternative. What a shame we have buffoons in charge of it.
  4. It's getting to be the case for a few I'd say.
  5. Baptized by Mfc royalty. Nice.
  6. Your healthy hatred for the Dons is commendable compared to mine. Does it stem from 2000 ?
  7. What's the deal playing the West Indies twice this summer and calling it a test series?
  8. My son who is mainly a basketball player and fan told me a couple of years ago he switched to the Tigers. [censored] . All that after we won a flag. Don't know where I went wrong with that one but at least my daughter is loyal to the Dees. Interesting topic. Like most, Cos dad did. I was born a year after the last pies/ Dees flag and complained to the old man I was ripped off. My dad saw our glory years but we missed the 21 flag together due to him going to that big member's seat in the sky. ( Miss you mate). Footy is not just a great game but it's a wonderful bonding experience for many parents and kids that spans generations. Ps Sorry about your brother. I'm sure deep down he's probably a good bloke.😃.
  9. Hey G.o.t.o. Thanks for all your well written and interesting articles over the years.
  10. Or an injured Tmac for that matter. I'm still perplexed by it all. He wasn't the fwd we hoped he'd be though for most of the year. It was worth a gamble . Best of luck to him.
  11. We miss you Angus. Hope you are ok. Just watched the 21 granny for the 102st time ( I know .....it's an amateur number). You played the toughest and bravest game about. Tx .
  12. It's interesting. Because as much as I condemn the whole violent episode, I'm secretly hanging out for the revenge game. In a completely fair and flattening event of course. Just Lots and lots of smothering. And maybe sometimes on the ball.
  13. Clown for hire. I wonder how much he got for his crappy cameo?
  14. He is such a a key player. When he returned from injury, I realized what a better side we were. Sadly after a while his form dropped off. I wonder if the same issue cropped up again. Salo in his peak powers is a game changer. Hopefully he's just being managed at the moment. I hope he's ok.
  15. Great effort WcW. Be careful with that umbrella though. It's ok to have one eyed supporters but not too great for mid fielders.
  16. Not so much for Goody next year perhaps. The club will probably agree and do right and stand by him but the media is out to get him for sure. I guess when you win a flag the expectations are higher. Losing in straight sets twice in a row has bought added pressure now. And despite injuries being the main reason the pressure is still there. I can't imagine it happening a third time. Hopefully it won't. I think we will be in the mix again but a lot depends upon young Jvr and Petty' s and Fritta' s feet. Hopefully Max fairs well too. I don't think we can count on Tmac or Bbb anymore. Anything we get from them is an added bonus. But our midfield and backline is still exceptionally strong with a good mix of young blood in the ranks. As much as a disappointment ( the finals) this year was compounded by injuries and Maynard's thuggery, I am really enthusiastic and excited again by a flag hope in 24. The cricket world Cup was a nice distraction but I'm really starting to have footy withdrawals. I guess I should be proud of the club for making the top four and giving both finals a red hot go.
  17. Good post. Our fwd line is my main concern. I don't understand why we didn't recruit a couple more talls for it but maybe they weren't to be found. Perhaps the club is still banking on Tmac or Bbb. Jvr is going to have a massive year, I hope.
  18. I do recall a reading a book during my economics degree called " How to lie with statistics." A good read indeed.
  19. Your right. But the issue for me is the longer travel with ours and also larger parochial crowds. I don't really consider playing Hawks in Tassie is an interstate game as it's against a Vic team.
  20. It's because they only have five interstate games. Two of those are easy ones. Only one trip to Optus and no game in Adelaide other than Gather which all clubs have. We visit Adelaide twice admittedly one for Gather ( but it's a S.A. team) and Optus twice.
  21. I wish we had Monday night games.
  22. Collingwood's fixture in terms of their five interstate games....one being hawks in Tassie and another gold coast is a joke. No wonder they won a flag. Protected species is the dirty magpie.
  23. I'm not sure if this grading includes interstate games Collingwood's interstate travel is as usual as soft as it gets. Joke.
