  1. I fail to see how Jurrah will attract the third best defender next year - who will the other take? Possibly one to Bate... and then?
  2. I love where Swann basically attributes the 43,000 members they got last year to the slogan.
  3. Nugget my point is it starts with us and can hopefully build. If we want to do this it can only be us that can make it happen - we can't rely on others
  4. Can't really remember off the top of my head. We raised ~$1500 and about 80(?) people came out. Was a good, fun night. Someone posted a little report a few days after it I think. But yeah, you need consistent numbers which our fans just don't seem too interested in being a part of. Interstate matches supporter thread Our birthday party thread A possible solution could be to have a demonland endorsed pub/restuarant near the G where we aim to get people to each week - one location where we know we can go and meet up with at least a few Dees. Perhaps we set up a poll with a few decent pubs near the G where we can meet pre match and possibly watch interstate matches
  5. I've been saying this for God knows how long (see - demons draft day event) - but it doesn't seem to be an option and not too many of our suppoters seem too interested (I tried to get a venue going for us to get together to watch interstate matches with little-no interest and our 150th Birthday party we had was, whilst fun, disappointing in its turn out). My thinking would be to get a group going first that meets regularly before games and hopefully grows in numbers - if successful we could probably then try to set up donations/auctions/deals to help the club.
  6. Somewhere walking distance from the ground that isn't too overpriced. The London...
  7. I don't think so - aren't they paid according to the round they were picked in?
  8. Considering some of your posts I'm surprised you ever take a side at all.
  9. I'm still not sold on the "we shouldn't take him" argument. Best available to me means just that. If it gets to pick 18 and the FD judge him as better than any youngster is likely to be then I'll back them.
  10. You don't remember him because Essendon played Brisbane that day. Nice re-writing of history by the way re: the Davis 'trade', I suggest you re-think how that situation panned out.
  11. Interstate/clash jumpers are so rubbish IMO because they usually try to do far too much - not sticking to the simple design of the old school jumpers.
  12. Nick Davis ring a bell WYL? Ironic you claiming someone else is crapping on.
  13. Good spot, that does ring a bell actually. Though I do still feel that the club should be going out of its way to hold an event that as many supporters as possible can get to.
  14. Thank you for your update! He certainly is a fine young man by all accounts!
  15. I haven't thought this out too much, so it may come out wrong. But I'm a bit over functions like this. I like the initiative - but surely, a club too long branded as elitist and low on support who is trying to break into a new demographic and extend the supporter base should be looking at making its functions inclusive for all members and supporters. As we all know, and have argued over for a long time, the price of a membership is difficult enough for many fans to produce but many save and struggle to raise that. Events like this are almost the cost of a membership and, being held in the heart of the MCC, only further serves to highlight our past rather than our future. Perhaps entry should have been free for members and we pay for drinks with the club getting a cut but moreover I feel the club needs to find a place it can hold social events like this that its supporters will enjoy going to, spend as much cash as they can afford and have a good night.
  16. I hate that these announcements get leaked so early. Players, especially of Richo's ilk and standing, deserve to break the news themselves. It was great watching you Richo
  17. Meh. They haven't won a flag in September in over 50 years.
  18. My favourite pastime at this time of year is watching people claim they want someone at one pick and then keep their name at the next pick (usually 16 positions later in the draft). Surely if you seriously think someone will go in one spot, you don't think he would slip by 15 more picks.
  19. That's the funniest thing I've seen since Darren Cutherbertson's gem. Far out. Given their record against those 2 this year was 1-3, it's not a great start.
  20. I'm almost laughing at the thought of Ball sitting out of football for a year so he can be picked up next season. Gee, what a prospect he would be then.
  21. Are we to extrapolate that we've been inadvertently kissed on the dick by the blues?
  22. We have already won. On top of the reasons you've listed, that match also saw Trav rack up over 40 touches. I've decided that this helped convince Matthews to spend pick 14 on him - allowing us to take Grimes.
