It's pretty obvious that my whole argument has been about our poor development of key forwards, if you've missed that poin tthen you've missed alot of other things as well. MayI congratulate you on posting something that Nasher hasn't had to delete, I'm sure he'll appreciate it.

How many premierships have they won in the last 10 years?
-
No, it was about Key forwards, Robo may occasionally kick goals but he is not a Key forward
-
Yoy think Jamar is a quality ruckman? Regardless, I've already addressed this issue in a previous post
-
At 187 cm Robo does not constitute a key forward. The game was a clear example of poor leadership and the club going backwards, but that's a different argument entirely.
-
How many key forwards and quality ruckman have we developed over the last 10 years? It has been a major problem with the club, as well as leadership problems.
-
Having good forwards straightens up midfields. How many times have we seen them turn the ball over because of over using the ball?
-
deonox, once again it's not just about Newton, I don't know how many different ways I can say it so you'll understand. However I believe that the MFC has failed dismally over the last ten years, and the way Newton has been handled is just another example. The club has miss managed a number of our better players, and there is only one way to prove either of us right, and that's to look at what the club has achieved in that time. Do you admit that the MFC has wasted the last ten years?

He was already considered a great talent before coming to our club Pity they no longer play in the red and blue. Do we have a problem with recognising this type of talent? I'll give you Carlton, but as they are the worst handled team in the modern era that's called damning someone with faint praise. We're at the same level as Richmond and that's something I'm not proud of. Jolly huh? Which stupid club let him go? We've given away our fair share of good picks eg Holland for an early round 2 pick Alot of their first round spicks were swapped for players, they were smart enough to trade away older players not up to it, we still have them on our list <_< McIntosh and Hale are miles and miles in front of PJ and Jamar, and we don't have anything closely resembling Petrie in our team (Newton perhaps) Laycock showed White how to play desperate footy. I agree, but that's why coaches and footy staff get paid alot of money. If we want to be successfull we have to get this right. You of all people should realise that I'll defend myself and not be intimidated

In the last ten years we are the only club to have not developed a consistent key forward, and a ruckman too.
-
Schwartz was already at the club

How long did it take though RR? Imagine if like all the other clubs we managed to develop another key forward in the last ten years to play alongside Neitz, we may have seen a premiership, instead we're basically starting all over again. We have to wait for Newton and Frawley to get 50 games under their belts before we'll have a serious crack.
-
Thankyou RR, that's exactly what I'm referring to. After ten years of trying we still don't have a spine, we must learn by these mistakes or else we will never be a successful club.
-
No deanox, you miss my point. Newton isn't the complete issue, it was about developing key forwards to back up and cover for Neitz. Our team has completely missed the boat on a very open year, sure we've had injuries but so has other teams who are still challenging for the finals this year. This year we've been terribly exposed up forward, but anyone who seriously watches the team from year to year would have predicted it. With a couple of semi decent big targest up forward we would have won a couple more games and still be in an opportunity to play finals. Instead of starting the process a couple of years ago the club has waited for Neitz to be on the verge of retiring, and we must learn by this mistake. You want proof of what I'm saying? http://www.afl.com.au/ Click on that link and have a look at the ladder. It's a disgrace that this team is in this position.
-
I'd prefer him doing that to riding shotgun with drug dealers
-
Well in that case we obviously don't need any more forward kpp's, our search is over.
-
That's rubbish Jaded and I'll use Garland as proof.
-
Well I do care because it's yet another season wasted. We've desperately needed another KPP to help and cover for Neitz for years, but nothing happened. It's an important lesson for our club to learn.
-
He is definitely safe - Ward, Brown, Holland, Pickett, Neville, Jamar, Ferguson and Warnock would all go before him.
-
Send him an email, I've done it before, he's more than happy to receive them if you really think the kid has talent.
-
That's a fair innings
-
I don't think they were tanking as such, but the events over the week prior to the game did them in. Imagine your best player and leader throwing a hissy fit on the ground then when he was dragged he took his boots off and refused to go back on, what sort of message does that send to the young kids? Their senior leadership is in a worse state then ours.
-
Bartram is entirely different, he would have been considered a first round pick by the footballing community except for his poor disposal. Apart from that he was ready to go from the very start. My issue with Newton is that I would have preferred him learning from Neitz rather than Sautner.
-
Brocky, if he was mentally weak then a couple of games with Sandy would not have fixed the problem, it would have taken alot more than playing with a cash strapped, second rate team.
