Sorry Wonna. Where he grew up.... The place he calls home?
-
P.S. For the nuff nuffs that will read the above post and criticize what I have said... Please read the whole thread including my other posts to gain an understanding of where I stand on the issue. I do not believe that Petterd will leave.
-
If either of them are uncontracted, then they go. I thought we were talking about the players here? Not the club. It's a different story when you are talking about what the clubs want. So to answer your question: * Petterd is from the Gold Coast. * Family and friends live there * Has been documented that he would love to play in front of family and friends at the place of his birth. I don't have to explain that to you Enforcer. You know that. You also know that Jamar has no association with the GC so therefore, people won't worry about the way he is feeling as much as they would with Petterd.
-
You fail to reply to any of the responses I make enforcer. I have never said that I was worried about the go home factor. Listen carefully to the next part: I merely stated that melbourne supporters have every right to be more concerned about someone like Petterd leaving than someone like Jamar . The reasons and factors are plain for every logical thinker to see. Yet yourself and Rhino still seem to be confused and make the most ridiculous comparisons. It's really not that hard...
-
You too Enforcer. Sure are using your brain in these comparisons.
-
It's not a misused or overused fact Rhino. I don't think that he is going to leave because of these factors. I am simply saying people are right to worry about him more than other players on our list because of these factors !!! Surely that makes sense to you? The Daniel Rich comparison is pathetic Rhino. But I commend you for the attempt at a funny joke.
-
No. They don't think that he is the only one at danger of going. But if you look at where he is from enforcer. Where his family is from, his friends are from... Then you may come to the conclusion that he may be one of the players we should worry most about. No?
-
We have 4 wins and it's half way. I expect 4 more. 8 wins is what I want to see from the dees. That is reasonable.
-
Please elaborate enforcer. How is it that my posts on Gysberts' have come across in a moaning tone? Is it because you believe nothing but positives and talking up the future should be said about the kid?

Day off on Tuesday's Dappa? -
It's not moaning you [censored]. FFS. A fair assessment of a player is not moaning. I highlighted the positives and negatives of his game. P.S. Players don't learn how to become elite kicks once they play AFL. They can improve. Luke Hodge was an elite kick before he was drafted. Gysberts' will never have a Luke Hodge kick but it should improve with the correct coaching. Hopefully it will.

Jones has improved his kicking out of sight. The most improved kick for our club I would argue. Grimes is also a fantastic kick but he likes taking the risky option which I don't mind. Shows he is not afraid of making mistakes and wants to take the game on. -
And this will all slowly come together when: * More dead wood is thrown out * The kids play more games * The kids develop their bodies in the gym. * We as a team start believing in and playing for each other * New and improved facilities, (Aami Park) In short.... 2 - 5 years.

Davey's out on the full kick was the first terrible kick I have ever seen him do. Yes he can be a little too cute with his precision kicks through the middle at times, (the extremely creative one's), but Davey does not need to fine tune his kicking, I mean come on? No player in the game will ever have 100 % execution and effectiveness every time. My concern about Gysberts' kicking is his action/technique. He almost does a 'bruce' if you will. Rather than guiding the ball to the boot with one hand, it seems he drops it a bit early, giving the ball a bit too much time in the air before hitting the boot. Have a look in some of the replays. He gets away with it when going for a short chip to a target 15 meters away. But when he is on the run or is kicking 30 + meters to a player on the lead, it looks as though he struggles a bit. Not saying that it is unfixable and as I said in a previous post it's fantastic to see that he can accumulate so much of the ball. Let's just hope he can improve it over time and not become another Bruce !! We don't have enough damaging kickers in our team. Tapscott looks to be one. Davey, Green and Strauss. Not enough IMO.

I'm with you Robbie. He has been doing that for a while. No urgency to his game whatsoever, especially when the ball is in dispute. A number of times yesterday when he was running after the ball it looked like he was just jogging along, willing it to roll over the boundary line, even when there were no opposition players on his hammer. It's sad. Really seems like he has lost it. Has to go at seasons end for mine.

Agree with you Freak. Constructive criticism is a scarcity around these traps. It's either 'X' player is going to be a gun or 'X' player is terrible and we must delist them. Every year we have new draft picks and every year it seems to be the same story. The premature prediction that these players will become 'guns'. Man I love that word. My views on Gysberts: Gathering 26 and 27 possessions in his first two games is a sensational effort. Good to know that he can find the pill and get to the right positions. In close I thought he looked composed and gave off smart handballs to the advantage of players unlike some senior players... (*cough* bruce *cough*) Kicking looks to be an issue and definitely needs improving. Technique definitely needs looking at and decision making on or where to kick to will need to improve and hopefully will over time. For people to jump on Freaks back when he simply states something like that is laughable. This forum is becoming more and more like a shrine for Melbourne's draft picks. Good start to his career nevertheless.

So do you by the sounds of it.

Give him a break haha. Could be just a young kid. Still.... gave me a chuckle..

Read the Morton thread Enforcer. You will see I have contributed. I'm sorry if you have taken offence to some of my posts.

I post when I feel I need to rather than as much as I can. Pompous is the wrong word because I am not trying to put myself above others. I simply have the view that some supporters on here find it hard to assess players and struggle to see the weakness's of players that don the red and blue. Is that really pompous? I have much to say that isn't boorish tripe. I enjoy it when people can bring out the negatives and positives of our players rather than state that they are 'guns', 'stars' just because they wear the red and blue. It was more your analogy that was what got me going. (The Pavlich and Fiora one) I am enjoying Cale's development as much as any Melbourne supporter but I do see that he has to work on a many thing's to become the player that some on here already see him as. I could argue all of these points Dappa. Cale has played more games because Masten has had more trouble getting on the field because of injury which will obviously show Morton averaging more disposals, kicking more goals etc etc. Being younger doesn't have anything to do with it but being skinnier and can, yes. Is he miles off his best though? A presumption yes. I could also say Masten is Miles off his best because he is injured and is also young. Yes. All a matter of opinion. And as I stated above, I was picking up on the comparison between Morton and Masten being like Pavlich and Fiora. I think Morton has some thing's going for him dappa. But I also see a lot of flaws and all we can do is hope there will become less and less of them over the years. Stating that Morton has a better kick is ridiculous as well as stating Morton's best game has been better than Masten's. See below as to why: A ) You don't follow West Coast B ) You obviously haven't seen nearly as much of Masten as you have Morton. Different players, different opinions but fair enough. Read above. Plenty of substance. Well I can see Masten's scope for improvement as clear as day. Just as I can see Cale's too. They are different players that play different roles so it's hard and always will be hard to judge which one is more valuable. I guess West Coast needed a replacement for Judd and Masten seemed to be the best 'steriotypical' mid in that draft. We went for Morton who is the modern day versatility type player. Two players who don't deserve to be so harshly compared just like the Watts and Nic Nat comparison. Hell if we are all really going to argue about this, why didn't we just go Rioli at 4 ?! Yes, I am sure there would be some. But injuries play a part, as well as positions. Morton is a free roamer, gathers many loose balls but is not damaging by foot at this stage. Masten is your typical on-baller who gets his own ball and plays outside a bit too but doesn't dominate games yet. Surely all of this provides enough to show that I am not trying to be arrogant. There are arguments for both sides and I think it's unfair to judge players like Morton and Masten this early in their careers. I try to be fair with my views however. I hope that has been shown in the above.

Martin has more talent than Nic Nat.... I have really heard it all. Take your red and blue goggles off.
-
I would love one thanks Robbie. The truth is a bit hard to swallow isn't it?
-
So then Martin, who is a poor poor man's Nic Nat in terms of being an "athlete" type is about where on your list? Why are we bothering with him if chances are his footy skills and smarts may never improve? While I am at it, how about Spencer? How do we get him to improve?
-
And for what it's worth.... The only reason I am against biased Melbourne supporters is because it restricts intelligent and constructive criticism and talk on forums such as these. Comments like that are as bad as a Christian arguing religion with a Jew.
-
And in all honesty, what do you think a West Coast supporter would say about the comparison between Masten and Morton? Tip: Use your brain here... Try and step out of the "Melbourne supporter" role here if at all possible for you.
