  1. In a normal court of law, there's a defendant and the prosecutor. The overarching problem here is that there's a weak as [censored] set of guidelines forming the basis of the prosecution and a governing body accountable for upholding justice, however don't fight for what's fair and just.

Bring in a decent defence counsel and the AFL will fold. I'm convinced he will ultimately walk.

Our problem is we've just never stood up to the pricks.

  2. FYI only, we seem to have lost the post numbers on the thread - eg. refer post 43 above. Which can be useful.

I've also realised, just having read some posts on how bad we were over the last 10 years, that we need to have another emoticon for "slash the wrists" because "sad" just doesn't quite cut it.

    Nice upgrade.

You don't need to tell me. My wife is a school teacher and she had a kid in her class that wore his dees jumper proudly on wear your footy colours day and he had never actually seen Melbourne win live.

That wasn't @Nasher was it? I seem to recall Nash suggesting he was, until quite recently, starved of witnessing a win live (but I might have that wrong).

Your story did resonate with me - I first started supporting the dees through the early 80's, just before the time RDB came back to the club. It was pretty lean back then as well. Then came Swooper and the 87 finals....

My boy is exactly the same now as your wife's student - whilst he was only one of 2 dees supporters at the school, the school principal is a dees' man as well, which worked well when some of the dees players visited the school; my boy always got front and centre access.

  4. Completely agree LH - he criticised the GWS after losing to Sydney - "saying it was a contest pitting talent versus system" (HSun) which would be a fair enough summation. GWS are loaded with talent but they lost the game. So presumably the systems (structures) of Sydney won the day. Perfectly reasonable/objective.

GWS have their nose out of joint from holding a long held grudge against the man - first D. Matthews “the one constant for us is his views are not objective.” and now Sheedy feels the need to play the man as well.

Just plain ordinary, and unwarranted Sheeds. He would know the amount of effort required to win a flag. Bit more than 2 hours work. Plenty of careers with zero flags to show for it.

Credit to Roosy for not responding. All class.

What? Should West Coast be denied a home final just because the capacity at their ground isn't big enough to satisfy the crowd that could potentially come at the MCG? It will be a sell out if they get a home final so on your criteria it should be moved?

If they're playing against us Wrecker, then absolutely they should be denied a home final.

We've all waited far too long to see a final (my 11 yo boy is yet to pop his cherry) for our moment in the sun to be in WA.

  6. I agree with BBP - North play tall (Brown, Waite, Goldy/Pruess/Daw). I think Pedo was awesome the first 6-7 weeks he was in the side but his last 2-3 games patchy. If Gawn is really that questionable, I'd be looking at Spencil first. Need ruckman height, win ball in middle to negate their fwd line.

This has always been what i have thought.

The health of the 34 players is of less importance than the Essendrug Club

this is the part i will never understand.

Now Commentators are saying "Essendrug is everyone's 2nd favourite team" and "What a Fairy Story it will be if they make Finals..."

    it makes me sick...

In some respects i hope there are some serious health issues that fall on those 34, so that the Stinking Foul Stench that grew from Windy Pill are once again legally up against the wall

I'd like to email/twitter/communicate (whatever) this to Bruce McAveney (I heard him gushing this rubbish too) so he actually understands he's got the wrong end of the stick completely.

I used to think he was a good commentator, now I can't listen to him. Maybe whatever BT has is contagious.

  8. I'm all for being fair and sharing the home game. I also think it's a good idea to stagger home games with Anzac Day eve. Our DL'ers are clearly more switched on than the AFL when it comes to fixturing....

Additionally, I remember reading on the QB 2017 thread (after the game - when the pies moaning on this topic  started) that despite the fact it is our home game, Collingwood still got the proceeds of the Ponsford Stand contingent.

If we are truly being fair, then we should get the Ponsford Stand takings when it's their home game in future.
