  1. We are offering one lucky punter $1,000 just for turning up this weekend. Great initiative but a poor reflection of where the two clubs are at. This has come about due to poor numbers at the last two home games where we have had to pay the AFL to play at the 'G' approx $50,000 each time due to only 16,000 turning up. Pehaps we should start playing in Tassie (Aurora) to avoid this, it's worked for Hawthorn?
  2. Even the Roos supporters belive this! If you want proof go to www.searchingkangaroo.com and see this topic there (Title: Melbourne will beat us on Sunday), it is a very entertaining read. They are also willing to wager beers on the match.
  3. McIntosh is young and a pretty good ruckman and one of those would be handy give old Whitey is getting a bit long in the tooth. Heath Shaw or Jesse Smith would be an asset good running players & goal kickers from full/half back and good replacements for Ward, Brown, Picket or Whelan (take your pick) are much older than these guys and looking forward both will probably turn out to be much better players overall.
  4. Clearly you have way too much time on your hands. Surely you could have seen a way to get Hamish McIntosh, Jonathon Brown, Heath Shaw and Chad Cornes into the team for next year as well. Back to the drawing board with you.
  5. I'm deadly serious when I say that I still think we are a realistic chance of winning 10-12 games and a verygood chance of putting 6 consecutive wins together from round 11 to round 16 and possibly 8 on the trot if we can get over Adelaide at the G in round 10. It will all hinge on team stability ie injuries & confidence, we should be the form side of mid-season with a lot fresher players than anyone else.
  6. Garry Lyon with Dermott Brereton as his assistant
  7. Caroline Wilson [Mod Edit]......................[Mod Edit] is a sensationalist at best and she quite often shoots her mouth off without knowing what she is talking about. She is overly opinionated and a lot of the time just plain wrong and often I feel that she says things to get a reaction, stuff the facts. I can't watch Footy Classified for the simple fact that she is on it, get rid of her and bring in some real talent. Example: Recently Wilson stated that York Park (Aurora Stadium in Launceston) is a second rate facility, if she had ever been to the place and checked it out she would never have made such a comment. The surface at Aurora is the best in the country (ask anyone from Hawthorn), with near capacity crowds for every game played there no matter who is playing. Tasmania is pumping millions of dollars into the AFL (particularly Hawthorn) but Tassie has spent a truckload to get the ground right and is getting it right which is more than can be said for the Telstra Dome. The woman just infuriates me aaarrrrhhhh!!!
  8. You are kidding? Cornes should have shown Byron more respect and got rid of the ball sooner knowing the great man was bearing down on him. As a 250+ game defender myself I saw Byron's tackle as a perfect example. Not vicious just hard when the game was in the balance. THE GAME IS CALLED FOOTBALL NOT BASKETBALL! It's comments like that, that may well see Byron get 6-8 weeks for hurting another player without breaking a single rule of the game. Shame on you!
  9. Not sure who was taken from 10 onwards in that draft but I would rate Johnstone second behind Chad Cornes. Cornes was awesome last week v St Kilda, a more versatile player you will not find exept maybe Kouta & Hird at their peaks. Cornes is the only player in that ten I would rather see in the Red & Blue than TJ even then I reckon its a close call.
  10. Your quote from Roy Keane condradicts you when you said "We are not hard enough on the players" and "We are just too soft on the players". I think Keane was getting stuck into the supporters for criticising the team without justification not for being too soft on the players. I think Melbourne fans understand the game only too well, and well enough to know when it's not going to be a good day out with the kids to see us get beaten. Crowds can be a factor but I think its more af a factor if the crowd in general is big ie 50,000+ and the atmosphere that is created. No doubt playing in front of 16,000 at the MCG is going to make you think about how bad the tea is travelling but it wouldn't be unexpected. At the end of the day its the teams performance that's going to put bums on seats and with stars like Robbo, Nieta and McLean missing its just not going to be the same spectacle.
  11. Nice to see that the Biz has been given plenty opportunity to prove himself...pause....NOT! (if you have seen Borat you may find the NOT bit funny). I thought he was pretty good preseason and good enough to put him in my dream team. I've been a big fan of his since he came to us from Geelong now diappointed that he doesn't seem to be getting much of a go. Is he injured??? Did he sleep with someones Mrs??? Did he not buy ND a birthday present??? anyone?
  12. I can't help but wonder what the chances are that Aaron will end up at Essendon with his younger brother or vise versa, when does Aarons contract expire, is it 2009??
  13. What about: (in no particular order) Heath Shaw Dane Swan Kouta Hird Bartel Sandilands Hayes McLean Bruce Hodge Crawford Scarlett Didak Kirk Bolton of the Jude variety Tredrea Robert Murphy Daniel Cross Brad Johnson Goodwin Delidio the list goes on and on.......
  14. A stand out #1 for me is Josh Carr with Dale Thomas a close 2nd.
  15. I would pay big money to see him run through Josh Carr (is he suspensed). If Josh is playing and Byron cleans him up (fairly of course) it will be worth my membership for the year even if we don't win another game!
  16. To be honest I can't answer your questions and I don't think anyone can with any authority. But I can say that I think we have recruited as well as any club over the last three or four years especially when you consider that we havent exactly had first pick of the best youngsters so for me the future looks good and even better if Judd can be lured/afforded. I have a question for you, who will replace Daniher? or rather who would you like to see coaching the club from next year? Who is available and who has the desire?
  17. Fair enough, I guess after watching him be so impressive last year you forget he is still just a pup. Has a lot of potential and ND has faith in the lad hopefully he can extract all he has got.
  18. To answer your question yes I am a member and have been since `02. I think my main point is that not all the rollercoaster ride of the last ten years can be attributed to Daniher, I think poor leadership and management by the Board has been the biggest problem up until Gardiner took the reigns. I think the on field performances have been OK in 04 & 05 except for the losing streaks that cost us top four spots, which are probably partly Neal's fault but the players should be just as accountable. I think you are on the right track when you say there is a leadership problem among the playing group and a lack of mental toughness as a team but is that really all Daniher's fault? Maybe as players like McLean, Sylvia, Jones, Rivers and Bartram take more of a leadership role at the club their attitudes will rub off on other players and we will lift.
  19. Both teams up against it you've got to look pros & cons Pros: At the G. Tarrant is a muppet. If it was a street fight I think we would win (even without Brock & Byron). The Biz will surely be back. Des will be suspended. Holland will be added to the injury list. Cons: Freo has more talent. Freo has less injuries. Pavlich. Maloney injured??
  20. I can't believe the number of so called supporters who have given up on this season already and are calling for ND to be axed. Did we (MFC) attract some disenfranchised Carlton and Richmond supporters over the last couple of years. Footy is tough and obviously not many of you out there have ever played or you would know you need to take the bad with the good. ND has been one of the best things going for MFC over the past ten years and has done about as good as can be expected considering the list that has been fit and available at any one time. Injuries are bad luck and when they come all at once there isn't much that can be done but to get on with it. It makes me sick to think that there are Demons "unsupporters" out there willing to jump on a 'sack the coach' band wagon after three games with injury depleted sides. I say get a life and go back to which ever club you unsupported two years ago. PS I think Bate needs a shot of whatever Cousins was on, is it just me or is he always about 1/2 a second too slow with his disposals/fumbles.
  21. Brad Green & Cam Bruce used to frequent a few of the establishments in Launceston this was before a lot of people knew who Brucey was especially in Tassie. Brucey was an exceptionally nice guy and Greeny was pretty popular with the local buzzards (girls). Brad was sort of seeing a girl I went to school with for a while, Vanessa L, who last I knew was going out with Petifer from Richmond. Vanessa used to rave about what a nice guy Brucey was all the time.
  22. I think it's saying something that seven's coverage of the footy makes Ten look first rate. Commentry was dull Bruce is tired and no one had any chemistry going with Dennis, who seemed to be trying hard to hold it all together, and how the hell does Tim Watson manage to keep getting TV gigs Mr no-personality. The whole package lack charisma, class and humour. I think Nine spoiled us over the last 5 years. Eddie must have been laughing his big moon head off. LIFT YOUR GAME SEVEN!
