NON-MFC: Round 21
... and yet they have lost to the Lions (x2) and Freo this year, teams that we have beaten. perhaps "a dozen" is overstating it. I would say we are a Darcy and a Norton from winning our next premiership!

PREGAME: Rd 21 vs West Coast
Culley earnt his go. Lindsay needs a rest. Sharp shooter replaces Spargs… fair! What other changes were called for? Petty lucky to survive, but with May and Lever out, he may be needed. JVR could have been replaced by Jefferson or Johnson, but he is required to give Max a rest. If we were only taking the fourth quarter into consideration we could drop five or six… I support the old adage that when a team has had their colours lowered to that extreme, the first blokes that should be given an opportunity to respond are those that failed dismally last week. If they fail again then we drop five or six!

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs St. Kilda
Without doubt, we proved ourselves a superior side for three quarters. No need to analyse or review those three! We failed dismally in the final quarter. Captain obvious, I know! My point is… that final 30 minutes should be examined with clinical precision… all camera angles, every player, the coach’s role, rotation management, communication between the bench and team, including use of signage to formulate a PLAN to ensure it never happens again. The whole week needs to be devoted to this activity!

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs St. Kilda
I think it’s wise, at times like this, to separate oneself from the blokes who represent us. My immediate emotional response after the final siren was a reminder that it wasn’t me that failed so dismally, it was the 25 who took the field today. It’s not my problem to chew over and over until we experience retribution. It’s the team’s problem. Like many others, I have withdrawn my emotional involvement with MFC until it’s safe to come out and enjoy the footy.

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs St. Kilda
It’s clear, as others have said, we lack grunt and mental toughness. The immediate question is, who do we have that wasn’t playing today that has these qualities? Perhaps May, possibly Campbell, Johnson (has grunt)… That’s it! We need a focus on these qualities in all future recruiting. We need a few of the types that we despise who play for rival clubs.

POSTGAME: Rd 19 vs Carlton
Is this the same guy? "THE AFL'S decision to delay a rule change until 2025 seems likely to scupper any monster trade this year involving disgruntled Melbourne star, Christian Petracca. That's the opinion of AFL.com.au's trade expert Cal Twomey, who says clubs are unlikely to be able to offer enough high-end draft picks to lure the four-time All-Australian out of the Demons this off-season." "It could be a good result for all parties to see him go to another club." - @CalTwomey on Christian Petracca Watch @gettable_afl now: ...

I'd argue that 75% want those who pull percentages from where the sun don't shine to support an indefensible bias to get over it ASAP.

State of Origin
I’m Victorian… I haven’t felt disenfranchised watching State of Origin. There are the Storm players to watch, for a start. I think the same will apply to WA supporters in the near future. I don’t care if the NRL premier comp struggles, I’m an AFL supporter. I’m remembering the great interstate clashes of the past that allowed we MFC supporters to watch Robbie weave his magic for the big V when we were a basket case in our own comp. There will soon be 10 AFL teams who are not going to make the finals in any one year. State of Origin gives those supporters the opportunity to see their stars perform at the highest level.

State of Origin
Two conferences... Vic, SA, WA in one, Qld, NSW, Tas in the other. Three games in each conference, leading teams play off.
-
State of Origin
AFL leadership is so lacking! Not just the current admin! They are so slow to work out that mid-season, State of Origin is an amazing comp that unites every code supporter in the state, not just a single team’s supporters!

Can we talk about Kolt?
Does he think he is better than he is or does he think he is good? If it's the latter, I'm all for it! Self-belief is lacking in our squad!
