  1. Yes, the tragedy that is MFC just grew by a chapter! Was a magnificent contest however, we had everyone covered but Hawkins!

If you want to see an example of corrupt umpiring switch to the GC v North game... I've been watching the first qtr and the bias toward North is disgraceful... I can't watch anymore... GC forward takes mark which is displaced by Thompson whacking him over the shoulder, "Play On".... GC backman marks clearly in front of pack... "free kick North for blocking!

I'm hearing quite a bit of discontent on the Media over the 50 metre penalties! Finally we might get something done about the trigger-happy field umpires expecting players to dissolve or transport themselves 10 metres away instantly. The resultant penalty often becomes a certain goal. Here's a few observations... The clarification on the restricted zone was never intended to lead to many of the penalties we are now seeing applied by the umpiring fraternity The current application of the 50 metre penalty for this offense is sporadic, painfully inconsistent (depending on the umpire/offending player/team), and for this reason, GROSSLY UNFAIR! The penalty should only be applied if the opposition player is attempting to hold up play or have a negative effect on the player who is taking or about to take the kick If the opposition player is running away from the protected area, IN ANY DIRECTION, he/she should not be penalised It really is a matter of common sense! The disturbing reality is that the current crop of whistle blowers don't have any! They identify themselves as severely lacking in knowledge of the game!
  4. Tyson is out of form... how long this will be tolerated is difficult to predict... the reasons may be many and diverse. He will play his 100th in the next few weeks, a profile that fits comfortably with this young team. Don't forget that he averaged 25 disposals a game throughout 2016 & 2017... Hardly the makings of a 'no future at MFC' is it?
  5. With Tyson, its not about a player finding pace that he never had... its about a player finding form that he did have, consistently... for a significant period of time.
  6. Tyson finished?? Just turned 25... I don't think so. Playing out of position, probably... down on confidence, definitely... injured... maybe, but finished?
  7. Looking at the Casey stats v Bombers... Frost & Kielty not bashing the door down from that perspective. Do we take a risk with Baker after seeing what they did to Petty?
  8. 1 Petty was not ready... but he is far from skinny 2 Many have been calling for Bernie's head for some time. He was missed today and he is far from finished! Congratulations to him for going back to Casey and playing very well. He has a strong competitive character... something sorely missed today. 3 Petracca lifted, not to match-winning levels, but he gave it everything 4 Hogan lifted (see 3) his 3 goals were a big improvement from his past few games 5 Stretch must come in next week... Petty, Hannon, Tyson on shaky ground
  9. I agree Hannon needs a rest, and I'm a fan! He is flying for too many marks that aren't his, spoiling bigger forwards. His output today is not enough.
  10. You get an idea of an umpires underlying motivation when he pays in the back against Salem after a magnificent chase and tackle (the in the back resulted from the Saint player diving forward well after being pinned legitimately). Similarly last week, Nicholls motivation was laid bare for all to see with the 'blocking' free against Melksham.
  11. Petty not ready Oscar very weak 1 on 1 Viney wasted tagging McDonald obviously not 100%, agree he should have been rested Needed one of Stretch, Garlett, Spargo Obviously our best came in the final qtr. Many lifted in that 30 minutes... the heavy criticism of Jones is unwarranted, J Smith had several important involvements when forward of the centre, clutch goal by Lewis was fantastic, Hogan contributed during last. Gawn, Viney, Hibberd, Harmes, Fritsch our best Every week is a new challenge, we're not done yet!
  12. Went today, home now... got up the courage to watch the first quarter on replay. Just sayin', Joel Smith can be proud of his efforts in the first (can't believe the criticism) and Big Max owned Grundy in the first... If you find this observation runs against your own firmly held view, I invite you to watch the first quarter with a critical eye!
  13. Well done Daisy for calling it how it is... Nev is a niggly, pesty, clinger to opponents... even at MFC training. He is an A Grade stopper of small forwards and he he has more strings to his bow than that! Maybe the umps are bias towards the good stoppers!
  14. I never reply to these 3 word posts... but this one is the most positive. I am a Tyson fan but agree that he had a poor game and if Viney comes through today, is the most logical choice to make way. My only gripe about these summaries is Weid... I've liked everything about him this time 'round... and I am witnessing his coming of age in the big league (I am also a Pederson fan!)
  15. Lewis was the victim of a crude tackle from behind against Roos which was dangerous and went unnoticed. I wouldn't be surprised if he is suffering from that more than a 'calf'.
  16. Goodwin critics are premature...
  17. I'm not even going to bother to rewind to find who suggested trading Brayshaw.... My advice "Get a grip!"
  18. Justin Plapp: "Josh Wagner: Josh had 26 disposals, including 12 contested possessions, three tackles and four rebound 50s. After being left out of the AFL team, I thought he was pretty significant in the first half. He was able to get his hands on the ball and link-up. As the game went on, we had to shift him to half-back, where he’s more comfortable. But his game, on a tough night, was solid." Haters... show me the data where someone else who plays this role did better last weekend... for any team!
  19. IMO supporters who claim Vince and/or Wagner should be delisted have no cred. Wagner is sponsored by Demonland FCS! Vince is a recent B&F who brings much more to the team than the occasional turnover!!! I don't have time to list the data... so I guess that makes me a [censored] with an opinion!
  20. Methinks a couple of Deemomlanders need to revisit some clips of David Neitz! Comparisons with our Tom are taking the pizz, surely!
  21. Most of the free kicks against Gawn at the centre bounce were NOT in the spirit of the game. Furthermore, those decisions showed a lack of football intelligence by the umpire(s) adjudicating.

Nathan Jones was drafted to Melbourne with their first selection and the 12th overall in the 2005 national draft.[5] He made his debut against the Western Bulldogs in round 17, 2006 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and played the remaining eight games for the season, including the elimination final win against St Kilda and the semi-final loss to Fremantle. After his fourth match, he earned the round 20 Rising Star nomination for his game against the Kangaroos, where he collected 25 disposals.[5] After Melbourne were eliminated from the finals, he played for Melbourne's VFL-affiliate team, Sandringham, and played in their premiership side. Jones played 21 games during 2007 and earned a second Rising Star nomination after the round 17 loss to Port Adelaide. He finished third in the award behind Joel Selwood and Scott Pendlebury and received 17 votes out of a possible 45.[5] He was the runner-up in Melbourne's best and fairest with 190 votes, finishing behind James McDonald who received 260 votes
  23. Baum's version of Viney's altercation with Ebert is the equivalent of a Shaun Tait wide! As soon as Viney turned and pushed out at Ebert, the latter threw an elbow to Viney's chest, Viney's first two slaps were a warning but Ebert showed signs of wanting to go on with it. He was advancing and Viney threw the third, more emphatic blow which finished things.
  24. I'm bemused that some on here still don't get what we've got with Tyson! He is only 22 (ANB is 20). Recruiting him is only marginally shaded by the Vince deal, and he has at least six more years with MFC after Bernie retires!
  25. I have been reading this thread throughout without contributing, but I feel the need to add my two-bobs-worth (apologies to young folk who have NFI what that expression means). Hogan has already extended his contract. He will be an MFC player for at least two more seasons in that time we will be inside the top eight.... IF we continue to improve at the rate we improved in 2015. I keep hearing that Hogan will stay if the team shows that sort of improvement (Finalists!)... that is where I would like to make an important observation/modification... Its not just about the team improving/imposing itself/increasing output ... the upward trend is very dependent on Hogan improving/imposing himself/increasing output. If Hogan kicks 65 goals this season we are going to be in the fight for the top eight at the business end. If he kicks 80 goals in 2017 we will be close to top four. If that happens Hogan will be saying "Where do I sign?". So the future for Hogan at the MFC is very much in Hogan's capable hands. If he doesn't rise to those levels the Team won't rise to those levels. To summarise... If Hogan is as good as we all think the future takes care of itself! Relax fellow Demons, sit back, belt up and enjoy the ride.
