  1. In any negotiation and indeed in any strategic decision you need to have alternate solutions well done for exploring this one
  2. Your come to your father for advice he asks “has she got any money” you reply her family is loaded your father says “ you have my permission to wed”
  3. Don’t quit your day job
  4. It’s interesting what gets counted as a highlight Simple lead and chest mark then kicks to a pack Is link in a chain of handballs some centre clearance gathers from superior ruck work but I agree he shows great inside mid pressure and ability to extract
  5. When it was at Maroochydore was it at the Maroochydore multi sports complex ? I played there in a Masters carnival in October it’s a great facility with six or so ovals with a carpet like surface Its humid but so is Brisbane Alice and Darwin and there is warm water surf and golf for recreation no offense to Lorne but I know where I’d be going!
  6. His life wasn’t easy as he observed sitting on the cheese board was no picnic because the little flags get up your ar#e
  7. I figure the players are key stakeholders both current and prospective players these folk are on big coin and are typically going to live in the expensive suburbs and having a training base that isn’t a long way from home is attractive they won’t decide to play for Melbourne purely on this of course but every bit helps
  8. where do the players live mostly?
  9. I don’t disagree with you but I’m interested in the ins and outs if Fullarton McAdam and Tholstrup are in round 1 and JVR and Brown are available and Brown might be over injury then the selection committee will be earning its pay
  10. Dictator Dan rolls off the tongue pretty well I give Dan credit for the level crossing removals which were funded by the sale of the Port of Melbourne ibac operations Daintree and watts revealed the inappropriate influence of ministerial advisors and the corrupt use of office staff to perform party political work - which is akin to dictatorial / one party state stuff when challenged Andrew’s said he was accountable- every 4 years - which I think is pretty cynical getting this back to football- the degree of indebtedness of the State makes it highly improbable that any support for a MFC HQ has a snowflakes chance oh for the days when the Treasurer Allan Stockdale was a dees man!
  11. My nightmare game last year was against Essendon without Gawn they played two rucks and we were too short based on the afl app the 3 “tall” defenders above are respectively 193, 194and 194cms - midfielders are increasingly this tall (Bont) Our guys will play on guys 203 cm (Peter wright) and 200 (h McKay) yes I know body positioning and team defence etc May is really good for his size but he is getting on as well Turner and Hore are not big defenders
  12. I think we look at our list changes in isolation and give us a tick in reality it’s our list changes and list development relative to the competition that we should consider I’m not that clear on how improved other key contenders are JT has said that we went tall in past drafts and those investments won’t see returns straight away cause taller players take time I’m concerned we don’t have the tall defenders for 2024 we need they are still “developing”
  13. Goldstein includes Brighton black rock Sandringham Hampton gardenvale highett Hampton Beaumaris Caulfield south Ormond McKinnon part of elsternwick not really sure what lower income areas you refer to? goldstein may have voted Liberal but not sufficiently to deny Zoe Daniel’s (Teal) from winning the seat
  14. Surely our grounds are a carbon sequestration capture and storage facility facilitating our transition to carbon neutral?
  15. I hope you’re right I think the difference is that key position players generally (words chosen carefully) take longer to develop.
  16. I think this choice says something about our forward issues that our problem has been slow ball movement resulting in a crowded fwd line and subsequent kicks to congestion fwds have no chance Our other deficiencies like Gawn back up tall defence and replacing Tm and BB are going to have to be solved by those on the list now Fullarton Adams verrall Jefferson etc im not convinced that our newest recruits are straight in to the team and also Verrall Jefferson and Adams aren’t likely to advance much next year So my pessimistic outlook is that we are a ways off being more competitive than 2023 particularly when the rest of the comp isn’t standing still
  17. Absolutely the mere fact that we can contemplate a guy his size playing midfield speaks volumes for his ability he picks the ball up better than May and we need a tall defender and successor to May and Petty disco isn’t it - not big enough
  18. I think this is another “fugazi” moment Noise that isn’t as King suggests detracting from our performances i don’t think it’s us against the world anymore than any other season If we aren’t going forward with our list and player development then we are going backwards because several of 2023’s pretenders will evolve to be contenders in 24
  19. Tim Lamb will be holding his cards very close to his chest but at his presser he doesn’t sound like he is laser focussed on Reid ”west coast have the golden ticket” very happy with 6 and 11 if we can get a bit higher etc It’s at 3.26 of the attached what do you think?
  20. Our free agents Im not stressing on
  21. For me it’s you do the best with the cards dealt The net result is improved fwd firepower in Fullarton McAdam, ruck insurance/ relief and some outside improvement in delivery in Billings Grundy is better than Fullarton as ruck relief but weaker as a fwd C+ is about right
  22. True but at 194cm he has to mind 200cm opponents and was not favoured much by selectors I think it time we had some bigger better key defenders
  23. “Versatile tall who can play at both ends” maybe he’s a defensive option as well? with petty fwd I still like a tall in defence with May Lever
