  1. I'm going to be so conflicted next week barracking for Hawthorn. The more I barrack for the bottom teams of the 8 to have their ass fall out from under them, the more i strengthen the likelihood of the Hawks gaining momentum and 4peating They'll probably need to win and win big to get into the top 4. It will be a ferocious match if we can make the 8, i can't wait. Any maths people out there know the margins? I used ladder predictor and if they lose their games by 12 and we win ours by 12, we're still down by 2.7. Now if the Kangas lose two of their games by 30, then we need to win two of our games by 30 to make the 8. Kangas lose 1 game by 60, then we only need to win one of our games by 30. Kangas lose 1 game by 30, then we need to win 3 games by 30 OR 1 game by 30 and 1 game by 60. Kangas lose all of their games by 30, we only need 1 game by 30 Once above criteria fits, hope St Kilda lose 1 game. By the way, discussing this doesn't automatically mean we're taking Port likely and i would also hope that our coaches and players will be aware of the margins if we're in a position where we're winning any of the next 3 games. I would really hope that if we're beating Geelong, then everyone is aware of how many more points we need to score.
  2. The NO CHANGE brigade shouldn't be so quick to ascribe Hogan out as one of the causal factors in that win. It might have been a cause for us not winning by 55 points (No offence Pederson) Who knows. Hogan may come in and help us destroy Port by a lot more than if be the difference that can get us over the line. Pederson has some fitness queries doesn't he? Port will run him around. If Hogan replaces Garlett and Pedo stays, then I think we need Kennedy in. Port are a running team and their win against us last time around was across the board, We need to bring the same effort from yesterday, obviously.
  3. I thought Vandenburg contributed some valuable body work, tackling and handballs in congestion. 14 possessions and a goal. Servicable Frost: solid effort (but please don't try and squeeze between two hawthorn tacklers!) Harmes: Double fend off
  4. Will that trade come with extra expenses for his prosthetic leg?
  5. Best win since 1994 Qualifying final, 7th place Melbourne beating Carlton at the G. With Schwarz going nuts in the last half, it was his Wayne Carey moment. Me and my dad were having a great time. Similar match to this. Carlton were a really strong side that year and we showed up and dominated them out of nowhere, it was ecstatic.
  6. Umpires were biased and won it for the dees, what a disgrace. biggest cheats ever, are they paying them off? /s
  7. I will, better comments on forums with neutrals without the biased emotional garbage whinging about umpires every comment.
  8. Is there any non-umpire discussion in this thread? insightful stuff in here. Just whinging
  9. How do we feel about this performance without Hogan? Hogan for Fyfe?
  10. Just play the ball GAWN, umpire will give you less if you shout out for a free in the midle of play
  11. A regular pack mark for him. Wiedeman does that and you'd cum all over the neighbours
  12. I'd add 'Bloodline' to that list, criminally underrated at present as it might be a little slow for some. Stars Ben Mendelsohn who was nominated for best supporting actor but lost to Mr Robot's Christian Slater. Now two seasons in and it's almost as gripping as Breaking Bad in terms of causes and effects, twists and turns Also enjoyed 'Rectify' if you want a slow burning show that follows the rehabilitation of a wrongfully convicted man who has been in prison for 10+ years
  13. Me too. Feels like our grand final for the year. It's far more satisfying to watch how we stack up against the best than it is to watch a like for like battle like v stkilda, even with the prospect of winning far more unlikely. It's also satisfying just to see Hawthorn up close and how they zone and spread and move the ball, in dry weather.
  14. Brian Lake interestingly said for away games, the hawks had pre-planned meal and meal sizes as the tendency in hotels is to eat too much at the Buffet! They're obviously a club that tries to eliminate all variables
  15. I'm not talking about tanking ie winning culture, im talking about wanting richmond and collingwood to win their remaining games so we have a better draw next year, it has more rationale than cheering for them to lose because they're wealthy club and popular clubs with "feral" fans, which is mere pettiness. I'm not wishing for any losses, i'm just saying on the balance of probability, we will lose to hawthorn and in response to that I say i hope coll/rich win all of their games and overtake us and let us play 3 bottom clubs, instead of 3 middle clubs. It's not about cowering from teams but acknowledging that fixturing does determine how you finish, your momentum and other issues. Its not the sole determining factor, but its a bigger factor than some would like to admit. There's also the idea that maybe the momentum of an easier fixture can help set you up so that you're better placed mentally to take on higher quality teams. I think there's no coincidence that GWS & Geel are higher than WCE and Kangas this year, they have much easier fixtures
  16. I dont think it makes a difference if Richmond and Collingwood win more than us coming home nor does it benefit us in any way if they lose, I don't know about you, but I don't have any pies/tiges workmate to be competitive with over final ladder possies. All I know is if both teams win more, we can have an easier draw next year in the event that we in all probability lose to hawks/geel. If its a choice between Bris, GCS, Carl, Coll, Haw x2 [or] Bris, Coll, Port, Stk, Haw x2. Yeah I think i'll hope rich and coll win all of their games.
  17. It would be better for us if we finished in the bottom 6 for next years draw while still winning some of our last months games. What you want is for both clubs to finish just as strongly as us. We just need to drop the one game, Hawthorn for example. Go Pies! Go Tiges! Though, Freo might have a resurgence and playing them twice if they return to their top of the ladder form wouldn't be great.
  18. Vickery playing well tonight, who would have thought that fast delivery into the forward line would suit him... Already had a game with more contribution than any of Dawes all year. I don't think ive seen him this year in space.
  19. The umpire is used to thinking big players losing contests to small players is so rare that it must be a jumper tug or hand obstruction. Nah it's just an American player
  20. Grigg getting in the way of Vickery's lead and third goal . Still want Dawes?
  21. Would Vickery be worth a year if he was used as a tactical pinch hitter that could play around 6 to 8 games and kick 10-15 goals ? Seems like more of a list contribution than having players in the VFL all year. Prefer an injury free dud than an injury riddled dud
  22. I think everyone has the same fantasy about a ruck/forward clunking marks and kicking bags every game and then filling in for the ruck. But it never really happens at any club. Rarely anyway.
