The Writing Was/Is on the Wall
RE: McDonald, I have been a little concerned about the 666 limiting his main strength, which is his ability to cover the ground, end to end running and wearing opponents down, running them off their feet and getting loose/advantageous positioning. Beyond that, Iām not sure what his great attributes are. Long straight kicking & sticky hands? Bare essentials for a tall forward. I think in time heāll figure out how to use his running ability in this new system, but yesterday it didnāt work for him.

The Writing Was/Is on the Wall
I think itāll take about 6 rounds for everyone to figure what the hell weāre dealing with, with these new rules. Playing lists have been set up and gamplans have been drilled into players, based on certain acts and playing styles giving an advantage - the goalposts have shifted and everyone is now trying to establish what is most valuable and the most efficient game style for this new game weāre stuck with. Granted, we havenāt been fantastic, and we desperately need some true crumbers, but donāt underestimate the impact of the rule changes, with the slightly different stagnation and the coaches tinkering with how to combat that, but not being able to make too many changes in-game to see what works.

Lewis Out - Tom Sparrow In
Interesting. Not heard anything about this, but I guess it could be correct...

MFC Official App & Website
Not sure about that, I'd say we still get a fair bit of content, but it just comes in different formats now, e.g. instagram stories. I used to find the majority of content lame, boring, and either a regurgitation of what had been done better by the mainstream media, or sugar-coated club propaganda - either way nothing of real interest. We sorely needed a fresh approach. I prefer articles and interviews to come from independent sources. Having said that, more could be done, and will. I understand we did have some unforeseen issues with an appointment that would have impacted this space.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Why do you think Bell publicly announced Hoganās mental illness issue late yesterday? Out of the interests of transparency? They knew this was coming and wanted to beat the media outlets to the punch. Now, rightly or wrongly, no one can question his actions or decisions without looking like an insensitive uneducated pr*ck. Freo knew some minor details, but werenāt aware of the whole picture. Bell was posturing for a better deal. He took it beyond the point of no return, then pretended to opt out. Little did he know he was being played. Mahoney made the early announcement because we werenāt going to settle for this deal not getting over the line, and he didnāt want others to interfere and tempt May elsewhere. We dominated the trade period.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Sadly, Freo are just getting on the front foot here, openly discussing mental health issues as a protective measure against what is yet to be fully revealed... Theres already videos circulating & there will be more. We knew what we were doing.

Spargo needs more depth in his kicking
Really touching on the big issues here.

Should they be called out???
āMonkey see, monkey doā is a phrase I use sometimes and Iām in my early thirties. I donāt think itās that rare. When I saw it, I immediately understood it to mean that the AFLX players were just copying what they have seen elsewhere in American sports (with disdain), and kept looking for another comment that could be seen as more directly offensive. I admit it that on reflection it was likely intended to elicit such a response, but hardly conclusive. Itās not cut & dried. Having said that, Iād expect a coward to hide behind such an ambiguity.

Should they be called out???
Iām a little confused because I though the alleged slur was just a commonly used phrase, and would seem appropriate in the context, except for the fact Betts is indigenous and it has been construed as much more. Or is there something I have missed? Admittedly, Iāve only seen the comment in passing.

King: Oliver better than Cripps & Bont
Skill and innate footy nous. Nearly always makes the right decision, if he doesnāt hit the target outright, he puts the ball in the right area to his teammates outright advantage. Just a beautiful thing to watch.

New Major Sponsor - Jaguar CONFIRMED
I think technically it IS correct though. Not long now.

New Major Sponsor - Jaguar CONFIRMED
Monday announcement. Perfect fit, true to type. Wonāt say more.

How the New Recruits are Tracking
I think the first chapter of Malcolm Gladwellās āOutliersā may hold the key to this one.

Farewell Dean Kent
Canāt see why anyone would boo him. Heād only be taking up a spot at Casey if he stayed.

Tomas Bugg Announces Retirement
I think heās showing more of a strong distaste to that growing culture. And Iād agree. Itās narcissistic & vacuous.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Do they still have a bar over in Perth called The Bog?

ANB: Lever building to something "scary"
Itād have the opposition licking their lips, putting a speedy attacking HBF on Lewis to exploit his lack of pace and agility. Heād get burnt repeatedly & be benched within 5 minutes.

ANB: Lever building to something "scary"
Leverās & Mayās additions to the backline are the reason I think Jordan Lewis will play <10 games in 2019, maybe as few as 5. He shifted into Leverās role as an intercept defender, but if Lever is back to fill this role, where do we shift Lewis to? He shuffled around like he was wearing gumboots as it was, but just canāt see him managing to perform in a role where he doesnāt zone off.

Tim Smith v Cam Pedersen
Weideman is also a much better kick for goal. Distance not a problem, nor is the odd ball drop or sewing machine kicking action. A lot to like about the Weid.
-
Tim Smith v Cam Pedersen
Entitled to your opinion, but I think Tim has consistently made a contest, whereas Cam has consistently looked for cheapies, throughout their respective careers, however long theyāve been.

TMacs Toe .... Again?
Saw something in the last week where tom was doing some odd big-toe-focused stretches in the gym. Surely it has been an issue and they are just managing it. Wouldnāt say the sky is falling.
-
Tim Smith v Cam Pedersen
I just did. Heās tougher, harder, more selfless, has more impact on contests, etc. Of course this appraisal is all based on both of them at this precise point in time, irrespective of mid-term past performance. However Pedersen made a career out of getting cheap touches and goals, Smith has done the opposite.
-
Tim Smith v Cam Pedersen
Mate, Smith is a better forward than Pedersen, and the coaching dept had informed Pedersen his future on the list depended on his ability to perform as a defender, so they obviously agreed. Both probably not up to it, but Smith a better forward. Not much else to it.
-
Tim Smith v Cam Pedersen
Well, that is because āBecause I doā is not actually evidence, and was never intended as such. Mate, if you canāt see with your own eyes, and are trying to rely on stats to form an opinion, your opinion is of little interest to me. Feel free to carry on.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Got a feeling Hogan might know a lot about bags.
