Because if it does come back as positive then that player will feel like absolute [censored] that he's put the game on hold. Even if it's a negative result he still doesn't need to be named. Probably feeling enough guilt as it is.

Game looking like it's getting postponed according to FiveA SA

With the mid season draft approaching next Wednesday, we're starting to hear what players are linked to clubs now. Haven't heard any names linked to Melbourne yet, but would think a tall solid back man and mature midfield depth such as a Freeman or Sam Fisher from the wafl would be looked at. With Viney unable to get on the pick I think this will be something looked potentially. Maybe a wingman as well?
-
Viney is not fit as already discussed on this thread. Still 3 weeks away.
-
Maybe the AFL can just give us the 4 points after initially taking it away from us last week.

Isn't it usually 2 days prior? Meaning that it will be on tomorrow?

Club had a light run yesterday and were doing ball skills etc. Salem was restricted to jogging laps it seems.

Amazing effort -
His size and strength is at an exceptional for his age. Holds his ground really well in marking contests. Would easily outbody Weightman and has the speed to stay with him.

Fristch puts in another [censored] poor performance like that then he absolutely comes under heat. -

I like this doggies supporter because he is spot on. Unfortunately the Weideman/McDonald did not work at all. First time this year where our forward functioning was poor. Does that come down to not having Ben Brown there drawing two defender which releases Fritsch or McDonald? Could be. The Melksham comment is spot on again. Why the actual [censored] we brought Melksham in will go down as this year's biggest selection blunder. Not only does he add legit nothing to the team but we are taking away more defensive pressure by having both Melksham and Fritsch playing in the same team. No coincidence that our forward pressure was at its best when Sparrow was also rotating through there, but also applying manic tackling pressure.- 18 replies

Welcome to Demonland: Taj Woewodin
dazzledavey36 replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Just to keep this thread going, I've screenshot Taj Season so far stats wise. Looking at this he obviously wins the footy well and likes to tackle. Playing midfield I believe after being moved from half back. I am wondering though if he is trying out the for WA state squad? -
1 loss and you might as well close the shop. Classic demonland.

I'm going to throw something up as a suggestion and see what's everyone thinks. I think personally clubs have finally worked out Gawn. Not only this year but last year we had the same issue with our midfield connection and ruck set up. Far too many times this year we've coughed up easy goals on the back of Gawns hitouts. What's stopping the club in giving Jackson his fair share of responsibility as the main gig? I would love to see the coaching staff back Jackson in and maybe start the game in the ruck and even each quarter as well. Not only are we changing the dynamic of our midfield set up, but Jackson has proven this year that when he's gone into the middle, we've even able to shift momentum back our way. With our forward set up, having Gawn playing as the deep forward could really throw teams out of wack in terms of defensive set up. I look at the doggies this week and they've got a small defence. Gawn would immediately take Keath which then leaves McDonald and Weideman to really get on the loose. If people can think back to 1998 I believe this worked really well with the Jeff White/ Jim Stynes combination. There was times Neale Daniher would give White the sole responsibility as the main ruckman and Stynes would compliment that off the bench. It worked really well because when White came up against the bigger mature bodies Stynes would take on that role which would mean White would stay forward as that that extra marking option. Just a thought.

I know you broke the Salem one pre game. Have you heard if he's good to go this weekend?

Yeah I'm definitely not taking away his performance from last year and this. But I thought it was a really really disappointing game. He was lazy and was more worried about telling off other other teammates and not manning up. He got taught a lesson. He'll need to be right on his game next week because Naughton is a bloody gun forward. -
It certainly looked that way.

Yeah look it was my only opinion. But no way did I get personal. Amazed people get hiss over the smallest things. All we are doing is bringing in more Oskar Bakers, Ben Newton's etc by wanting to chase these kind of players. If you want to look at players that can come in straight away and make a genuine impact, then the likes of Ed Richards from the doggies would be an ideal target.

I found myself nearly putting my fist through the wall over this..

Great point mate and well put. It goes back to what I said last night, there are simply no easy beats this year and every win is significant. I have no issues losing to Adelaide as watching them last week I thought they were very competitive against the Eagles. They brought a game plan that was proactive in applying immense pressure. While losing yesterday is disappointing, I can easily see us knocking off the doggies or Lion the week after if we bring the same intensity as we did against the Tigers.
