The whole bigger crowd neutral crowd thing is one of the biggest myths in footy. Perfect example was last night.

PF: Melbourne vs Geelong
I know some on here are pretty confident against the cats, but for me I just have this uneasy feeling that losing twice to us during the season won't sit well with this Geelong outfit. Scott is a very smart and tactical coach. They would have taken so much learnings out of the last game and I expect a much sound response. They've also improved their side since the last round. They'll have Duncan, Touhy and potentially Higgins. Watched Touhy Friday night and he just makes them so much better off half back and wing. I have it in the back of my head that it was only 3 weeks ago this same Geelong team were 44 points up. So when up and going they can be at their deadly best. The other thing to look at is their track record at optus stadium is actually pretty good. Much better record then ours. I know they are a bit banged up, but they always seem to find a ways to get into this position. Their finals record under Scott is phenomenal even though the wins haven't been on their side.

Gus & Gawney Podcast - special guest Simon Goodwin
Haven't really watched many episodes this year but decided to with Goody being a guest. That last cheeky question with the Edwards or McLeod thing was such a good stitch up. Loved it by Maxy.

FINALS: Week 02 2021 (NON MFC)
They're building a bit if a reputation aren't they.. They certainly had plenty of chances tonight, but were so wasteful with their forward entries. Reckon they'll drop a few spots next year. Guys like Birchall, Robinson, Zorko, Rich and Lyons will all be over 30 next year and are slowing down. They have some good quality young players coming through, but I think they'll be around the bottom half of the 8.

Fox Footy were saying just before that Cody Weightman could potentially play because he was subbed due to a head knock but not ruled as concussion? Did anyone see that?

29 to 18 free kicks dogs way. Absolutely woeful performance by the umpires. Game is in damage control.

Hope so. Could almost say the Cats loss to us in the last round could also fuel them which worries me more.

More chance they'd move McDonald back if something catastrophic happened to both Lever and May this week....

PF: Melbourne vs Geelong
It was 2 weeks reduced to 1 week. Dangerfield plays the following week. Again, what's the difference?

Melbourne Grand final Optus stadium
Yeah initial reaction was I'm pretty sure you can't do that lol

Not a bad suggestion actually re Rivers/Rohan match up. Those line ups are pretty much what I'd go with also.

No I know that, Ratugolea did nothing last night except crash a few packs and Chris Scott was happy with his game. They'll try and put the Ratugolea match up on Lever as a negating role and expose him on on one if they can. That's why I think they'll try and move Petty on to him, again this is freeing up Lever in not taking a tall. I think Smith suits Cameron. He'll match him in the air and on ground level. If he plays a full lockdown on Cameron then that'll certainly help our chances. But Rohan hasnt exactly done anything the past month and a bit. He's lucky to be in the team especially after his woeful 1st final performance. He doesn't worry me. Rohan likes to play higher up as well which Lever will just sit back and play his game. In fact I think last time Lever was at times matched up on Gryan Miers as well?

I reckon this changes though with the extra tall they have. I wouldn't be surprised if it's Smith who take Cameron (remember he did do the job on him last year) and Lever takes Rohan Lever doesn't exactly play on a tall, he plays on a medium to small forward because this allows him to play to his strengths as a intercept defender. This is why Petty has taken the 2nd best tall forward. Don't be surprised if its: May - Hawkins Smith - Cameron Petty - Ratugolea Lever - Rohan.

It's getting tiresome to be honest. Anyway. Some that I saw last night regarding Selwood. Can someone please explain to me what the difference is? Selwood gave away the free kick just like Greene. This surely has to be looked at? Can't just have a scapegoat in Greene and not have consistency with Selwood.

This doesn't even make sense? And thanks for the feedback. Don't understand why personal jabs come into it when discussing football on here.

PF: Melbourne vs Geelong
I'll try and explain in simple terms. This was Geelongs forward 6 last night. Besides Miers, all 5 players are well over 187cm tall plus. They have Brad Close who comes in and plays a high half forward. Salem and Rivers will take Close and Miers. Where does that leave Bowey? Who does he take? Last time they didn't have Ratugolea and instead had Dahlhaus, so there was a match up there. Hibberd or Hunt are my potential ins.

Throwing the Ball
My favourite one was when Dangerfield threw it out of the back of the pack and James Brayshaw called it a party trick.

Will you be satisfied with the Season of 2021 even if we lose the Preliminary Final
I could cop a loss if it was against the Giants. I simply cannot cop this against Geelong. Out of all teams, I can't just fathom the though of losing to Geelong and letting it eat inside of me for 6 months.

The game will be won through the midfield and also down back. Yes they have some ageing and banged stars in Selwood, Duncan and Dangerfield, but don't underestimate them to lift in a game like this. Geelong did what they had to last night, win and get through the game with minimal injuries. Parfit is a loss for them, but they could bring in Shaun Higgins or Sam Simpson as a replacement.
