  1. I accepted weeks ago the grand final was in Perth. Yep it [censored] sucks because I always pictured myself taking a few days off and staying down in Melbourne to soak it all that week leading into grand final day with my brother and old man. I just want a win now! Get through the prelim and win the whole lot! Don't care how we do it! If there is one small thing I'm annoyed at is that we once again don't get the traditional time slot of 2:30 in the afternoon. Long wait throughout the day for a 7:30 grand final start time. The whole grand final in the afternoon is such a sacred tradition that it just doesn't seem right to me that it's being played in a twilight timeslot.
  2. When you're 8 years into the system with nearly 150 games in your career, maybe coming back to pre season in poor shape isn't exactly showing the right commitment to the team. It was well known his application to training and off field standards was pretty poor. He was given ample of opportunities to change this.
  3. Lol
  4. Simon Goodwon made the right call in getting rid of Watts. Our team is built on players being defensive competitive animals. Jack Watts does not fit this criteria.
  5. This. I've explained this time and time again about this on Mac Andrew. Clubs see a premium on ruckman more then they have ever before. This message has been filtered down by recruiters to the NAB league clubs ( where I do some development work ). We saw in the mid season draft where ruckman were the first priority. They still are. Clubs are looking at ruckman because they've seen the influence of what Gawn has made over the years and now the rapid development. We see Clubs like Western Bulldogs who had to go out and recruit Stefan Martin because they didn't see fit to have Tim English as a their number 1 ruckman. They now using a makeshift ruckman in Lewis Young. Right now if they had a pick inside the top 10 Andrew would be their first choice. There's a big chance Gold Coast or West Coast could go early with Andrew because their huge need for a ruckman. Gold Coast will have Witts return next year. So to have Andrew developing under the likes of Naitanui or Witts would be valuable experience for him. Clubs aren't fussed that he hasn't played much live footy. Clubs are really flexible now with the amount of vision they have. They have vision from his australia game early on and also the practise game he played for Vic Country where he was close to BOG. Max Holmes from Geelong is a perfect example. He played 1 NAB league game the year before and a bunch of school but yet was still selected in the first round selection. It's all about scope of improvement for the years to come and that's why Max is a certainty to go too 15. We're seeing this with our own eyes with Luke Jackson who's becoming the player Jason Taylor and Tim Lamb knew well before any Melbourne supporter when we selected him with pick 3.
  6. But pleads not guilty... 🤔
  7. It's a team game. Goody and Max have continued to preach the theme this year of being more as a team then the individual. Again this was started by Goodwin doing a complete culture makeover during the off season. Clayton Oliver last week at the All Australian awards was nothing but full praise for Goodwin for turning him into a better footballer in the off season and the mentoring role he's played on him. Didn't hear Oliver mention Roosy there...
  8. Max Gawn was recruited under Dean Bailey. Jack Viney recruited under Mark Neeld. Look at the current line up that ran out against Brisbane and name me the amount of players that have been recruited under Goodwin vs Roos.
  9. Yes I agree that he put in the solid ground work. But there has been significant changes since the Roos era, and Goodwin has implemented his own method and culture. He started this by getting rid of club favourite Jack Watts even when fans and and players were against this. Even Roosy was on public record stating he felt it wasn't the right decision. We've completely changed the whole footy department since Roos finished up. There are no coaching staff or fitness staff that remain from when he was coaching. It's a whole different team that have brought their own ideas and thoughts. The 2019 season was the blessing in disguise that we needed as I believe this is when we had a complete culture overhaul. That includes Goodwin completely installing a whole new set of standards and behaviours.
  10. Roos only had 2 years with Petracca and 1 with Oliver It's Goodwin that's moulded these guys from kids to mature men considering he's had them for 5 years alone. The whole Paul Roos thing gets a bit overrated on here..
  11. Conceded that they were playing so they reverted to playing like dirty pr*cks. Mathieson, Zorko and a few were repeated offenders.
  12. Just saw the Bowey incident. Bloody well done to the senior players who went to bad for Bowey. Salem, May, Viney, Oliver all went in and had a crack at Daniher and made a statement right then. Senior leaders right there.
  13. Hes kicked 51 goals..
  14. Yeah spot on. I didn't watch the game but his write up sounds impressive.
  15. Ridiculously eerie.. Thought I was looking at Shane Woewodin 1997.
  16. Can someone get through paywall and explain in summary?
  17. Yes I do. Geelong are cooked. Confidence is high for GWS.
  18. We've been banging on about this for weeks yeah? His football IQ is low, and his positioning around contests and stoppages is poor. Just don't think we can afford to carry a bloke that simply gets lost down back. He costs us goals by being out of position and not paying enough respect to Cameron. We have 1 shot at it in the prelim. Hibberd and Hunt have to simply come in for Smith now.
  19. Matthew Lloyd did make a good point this morning. Yeah McDonald isn't firing, but the rest of the forward line are and we're still winning and kicking a good score. He went along the lines of saying that it's not a bad thing if McDonald isn't playing well as long as the rest of the forward line are. Which they are. At best he's taking a tall defender. This still released Ben Brown and Bayley Fritsch.
