Yarrawonga kid from where I grew up. Know Caleb and his family real well. High work rate running machine who is a rangey wingman similar to Isaac Smith. Left footer who can kick the footy fairly well when on the run, but generally uses the footy well. His running power really is what sets him apart from others and its very impressive for a kid his age that was getting huge GPS numbers. He played senior footy for Yarrawonga this year in the strong Ovens and Murray league and even played off in the grand final against a Ben Reid coached Wangaratta Magpies who are one of the powerhouse sides of the competition. I watched him on the day and he didn't get overawed by the big occasion once. He kicked a crucial goal during the match that nearly dragged Yarra over the line and even took a pretty courageous hit as well. So just shows that he's ready for senior footy in my opinion. I try to not say too much on players/kids that I know from a personal level just because of not wanting to sound too bias so I try to stay out of these kind of discussions. James Jordon being another. Obviously I'd be wrapt to have him at the dees, but with Hunter coming in and Howes and Woewodin already developing away as potential wingman then im sure he's a bigger need for us more so then a key forward perhaps. Either way, I'll be stoked for when he gets drafted either way.

Slowly coming around to Jefferson the more I've thought about him in depth and the position he players and just watching his video's. My only concern is that if we were to select him, his career would pan out more as that floating 3rd tall then a key positional FF or CHF. Similar to how Jack Watts career panned when we all hoped he was going to be that traditional key forward that we lacked since Neitz retired.

Agree. Fritter can hold his head up high as he had a fantastic year. But the criticism at the time was warranted for being selfish (the personal abuse definitely not). Far more bigger concerns then Fritta and it was more around our game plan and system. Backing Goodwin has reflected on this and will rectify over the summer.

Developing away at Casey with the plan to eventually take over from Gawn or Grundy. Personally I think there is scope to play AFL early for Barnett due to his size and the fact that he's already played senior footy at SANFL. I think his career starts out as a forward/ruckman similar how we used Jackson. He's already a better contested mark then Jackson imo and his height and reach may prove that he could be a handy option up forward. If we were to draft him then I think it's a good idea that he develops a year at Casey especially under the guidance of Gawn and Grundy. Even developing his forward craft would be handy as well.

202cm 93kg ruckman from SA who's been regarded as the number 1 ruckman in this year's draft. If the club is looking at a developing ruck then Barnett could come under consideration for pick 13? Physically more developed then your standard skinny and raw types so you'd think he could play senior footy first couple of year. Although he plays closer to goal most of the time he's shown a good capacity as a tall that can push up the ground and help more with link up play. His marking is his biggest strength, even without being super strong as it stands he's a good one-on-one mark and displays solid body work Rationale; They need a young KPF to pair with JVR in the long run, and the styles of the two would compliment each other well. I think with Melbourne's game style a player like Jefferson that can take some ridiculous marks and smart leads will thrive with their ball movement forward and damage in transition where he could get one-on-one inside 50 Considerations; There's interest in Ed Allan and this is probably the first pick of the draft I think the club will actively be trying to trade up with. The next couple of picks in Olli Hotton and Jacob Konstanty might be of interest, as might Lachlan Cowan with Jayden Hunt leaving and other options getting older. Natanui was seen as a bit of a flight risk. Bit couple that with our off field mess and horrific culture at the time then absolutely no doubt he would have done a runner once soon enough.

He's the one I want with our 2nd pick and have voiced this before. His ability to go into the ruck using his leap is appealing I would think in terms of Goody liking players with versatility. He's a lead up CHF who is a one touch grab and his work rate is what stands out the most. Seriously hoping he's still there and we don't hesitate calling his name out.

It's a strange concept to be taking inspiration from a a club that was ranked 18th for ruck combination this year.. Not only that, Blicavs is incredibly versatile that he can play in all range of positions including as a midfielder target as we saw this year, whereas Grundy and Gawn are both pure ruckman. As @Lucifers Hero said, I hope we do have some better ideas floating around.

That's an absolute cop out of an excuse. So then what's the point of having fit reserves/depth players right there ready to go if we're not going to bother playing them for injured players? It's utter stupidity and arrogance by Goodwin and glad he got found out for it. Geelong rested and managed their stars throughout the year such as Selwood and Danger and brought in depth players to cover them. The players they brought in to replace obviously weren't up to the calibre but they were solid enough to play a role. Why couldn't do that with Langdon? We arrogantly didn't rest players when the opportunity presented itself against West Coast and North Melbourne. We took Lever and Gawn up to the West Coast game after Gawn had hurt his knee the previous week and Lever rolled an ankle. Again, stupidity to play them when they should have just stayed back in Melbourne and rested. Or playing Salem round 1 with his knee completely bandaged up after coming back from a serious knee injury. Bloke last 5 minutes from a normal style tackle. Goody can't be pulling this [censored] again next year.
