Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ
—coach— replied to Wiseblood's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks OD, was probs thinking more on the north eastern side of the Calder to Taylor’s Lakes on the empty paddocks that boarder the valley that the maribynong runs through, next to the Keilor public golf course. PS I don’t actually want the club to have their training base there, was more a point that Casey is a hell of a long way away from the G. -
Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ

I don’t think Casey will ever be a viable option, it’s 55km from the MCG and takes anywhere from 55mins to 90mins to get too (it’s quicker to get to my parents farm in Trentham which is 101km away from the MCG than Casey Fields in peak hour) Waverley and Dingley are 24 and 26km respectivley from MCG and take far less time to get too. Plus Waverley is the Hawks previous home ground and they have considerable membership located around the area. If we’re considering a home base miles away from our home ground, it’s far quicker by road to go the same distance north than south east from the MCG, so we would be better off with a base in the acres of free space near Taylor’s lakes which is only 26km from the city and takes around 47mins in peak hour. -
Was in the car with my fam when I heard his comments. All I can say is the loss must have really struck a nerve with him because that is quite out of character for a guy of his experience. Sounded like a complete d i c k when he said it and am sure he would not say it again if the press conference were to be held today.

Not sure they are hurting all that bad, if I was as bad at my job as some of them are I wouldn’t have a job with weeks. Yet they continue to earn excellent money regardless of whether they win/loose/draw.

It was quite bizarre and I commented on this on the game day thread, there were a number of instances where we kicked out from a behind straight up the guts of the ground right into the hands of one of our own. And you’re thinking awesome how good was that... ...then immediately the player plays on and kicks perpendicular right out to the wing! inline with where the player had the ball all ready, so instead of just continuing down the corridor and taking one kick to get inside 50 in an extremely quick and efficient fashion, we are 2-3 kicks away from forward 50 and giving the opposition forever to get back and flood our forward 50

Did everyone notice that the Richmond guys stood arms around each other during the ANZAC ceremony and we stood apart from each other? Contrast that to the Melbourne v Geel final last year, where the opposite took place. Is this a sign of a bigger issue at play than purely game style, structures etc?
-
They have been trained to operate under a first give principle where you don’t second guess your actions just go with your first instinct/option, it’s how they crate the speed of play we were know for last year. So to hold onto the ball more they would need to train away the last few years of habit.

For those that said Jeffy would turn us in to the kings we once were may have been mistaken. He was good early, done not much since.
-
Anyone who needs surgery should go in now and see if we can get them fit ready for preseason training.

Why the [censored] to do we kick it out of defense beautifully up the guts, then immediately look hard left and kick it directly to the wing in line with where you already are? You are now two kicks to get inside 50, where you were you are one???
-
Well Watts isn’t playing so, fritz. Fritz is being played out of position atm so I don’t think we can really judge of this year so far. Last year was a good indicator.
-
So who’s to blame?
-
So tell me was that Weid or any of our forwards fault there?
-
Game on the line right now
-
So room to be worse by the end of the game you’re saying?
-
Didn’t pay that to jones down the other end you [censored]! edit: why is f l o g censored?
-
Don’t disagree with you about the commentators, but as long as you’re not being tackled you are allowed to drop the ball, that’s what a bounce is and what happens when you drop the ball to your foot in an attempt to kick it but miss. No free in either situation.
-
And watch him kick a hell of a lot more goals for them than he does for us. 3 things are at play here before he can be blamed: - kicking inside 50 is appalling - the rules that apply to us don’t apply to the opposition. They are allowed to block our players from leading up, smack our players around the head indiscriminately and hold them constantly. - our structures and bomb it inside 50 approach do not suit a guy like him, that’s why Preuss has looked dangerous as he is about 200kg heavier and 3 feet taller, it does suit him.

STOP [censored] KICKING IT TO THEM
-
Typical finally get a free then on the fast break we kick it straight to them FFS

Really needed that goal to Jeffry, been down our end for most of the quarter and just can’t get a goal.
