Trivialissimo...
@Demonstone has caught me out! (at least I know this one piqued his interest enough to do some more research๐) LACHIE HUNTER made for a threesome with Clarrie and Pig in 2023, and a duo with Clarrie in 2024. As HOMER SIMPSON might have said,... 'A dozen times, D'oh!'

Mystery 23 puzzle
If you got 'Trivialissimo' just now, Il Padrone, I wouldn't have thought this one was too much of a problem? It's sort of the same 'depth' (or lack thereof), I think?

Trivialissimo...
Not totally surprisingly, @Demonstone has cracked this one first. Well done him! - again! ๐ The 'personal' and 'playing' characteristics are both very visible and obvious, as in not hidden or subtle. Anyone else, then?

Trivialissimo...
...aka, another (mini) quiz. It is - in my albeit poorly populated and managed mind - a little 'fun fact'. Not a team or squad this time; rather, a couple of individuals for whom you need to find what combination of personal and playing features links them. I've discovered that, in 2023, across all of both our AFL and AFLW lists, only MICHAEL HIBBERD and CLAYTON OLIVER had the combination. Then Michael retired, so, in 2024, only CLAYTON OLIVER had the combination. But then, in 2025, MOLLY O'HEHIR joined us; so, with CLAYTON OLIVER, we were back to two. That was short lived. Clarrie has left us, and now only MOLLY O'HEHIR has the combination. What is that combination? There are now two notes I must make: Answers by PM only Apologies @Cranky Franky

Training Ground?
Bulldogs territory, surely! But impressive if the Ballarat oval retains its sponsor that long...

The No T$ No B$ Thread
Every once in a while, Demonland delivers education (never mind that pesky sport, humour, etc!) Your assertion drove me to google; well, as far as its 'AI Overview', anyway. You are indeed right: apparently 'Bananas were first introduced to North Queensland in the 1870s by Chinese immigrants and cane workers from Fiji', whereas 'Carnarvon Bananas' are 'Grown on...plantations along the Gascoyne River in Western Australia, a tradition dating back to the 1840s'!

Kane Cornes: Demons prove you can't believe a word they say
p.s. Cornes is responsible for 2 topics on the front board. What else will he say today to achieve an unprecedented trifecta?

Kane Cornes: Demons prove you can't believe a word they say
These posts capture the issue for me: the unashamed hyperbolisation of nuanced comments into absolutes. We're accused of 'lying'? Well that is lying, too. I do wonder if Tom's (reported) observation was just a way of expressing regret that 'culture' was needlessly and so forcefully put out there by the Club in the first place, not an expression of the actual quality of the culture?

I can just imagine the FUN you had creating it, @RickyJ45!

Geelong to be fined over 3rd party payments
I do so want Geelong to be exposed and brought to significant account (tanking-level- or, even better, salary-cap-breach levels). However, that level of off-books support (accommodation, etc) I'm pretty sure every club is guilty of. Careful what we wish for...

Farewell Christian Petracca
I'm sure he won't be that, Demonsone. Maybe there's even one or two, or even more, in our current list!

PRESEASON TRAINING: Wednesday 11th February 2026
Dashed my expectations of First 18 footy in high school. I still have dreams about that, 50+ years later. ๐ฐ

But Franky, you are tainted now! Your Frank team is on the Demonland Quizzes honour board (and, worse, forevermore in your metadata...)

Mystery 23 puzzle
I don't know the answer (yet?...) but I was thinking puzzling might be dead. So, thank you, @deemoralizing67! And well done, @poita. And apologies for missing you both in my little survey on the 'Captains' puzzle thread!

- AI in Footy
That's impressive, @sue! Thanks! I guess a lot of it is 'Well, derrr!' but it's so sound, footy-lingo-, grammar-, sense- and actual sport-wise. The digital age left me on the platform a long time ago. That train seems now to be leaving Earth's atmosphere...- AI in Footy
Has AI reached the stage where it can see patterns in vision (match vision in this case)? And, if so, where it can analyse and usefully report on them? To some extent, this would bypass IP constraints?- From the vault
Thanks for these, Doc! First up: Collingwood, straight sets from second. Nice. Then, for those who checked in on my recent 'They wore three numbers' quiz, I see I missed Jim Stynes, who qualified by wearing Jay Viney's #26 in the EF (presumably for the long sleeves) before returning to his #11 in the 1st SF. Jay wore #26 for 3 games in '88, his debut year, and for his subsequent 3 years on the list, after Joe Rugolo finished with it in '87. Maybe Jim's EF jumper was Joe's 'ruck-sized' one from the back of Jay's locker? So Jim wore 11, 37 and 26 across his career, the latter missed in both of my valuable quiz resources: the 150th anniversary MFC history and @Whispering_Jack's comprehensive numbers list of 5 years ago on here. Here endeth the trivia.- Crikey! Another puzzle, Tim?...As if!...No; seriously?
...and should they ever play: intellectual, though no doubt uneducated, ABC radio commentary by... Fran Kelly.- The No T$ No B$ Thread

Thanks, mfcrox. That's a very positive view of AI, and in a context of something dear to all of us on here - MFC ascendancy and success. Is it an area where significant differentiation can arise, between those those who understand and use it well and those who try it haphazardly? What is needed at a staffing/structural/management level to get it 'right'? Again, I know nothing about it, and wonder if there are traps to fall into, and/or advantages to be grasped.- AI in Footy
...though, seriously, what could AI offer coaching - pre-season, player management, game-day preparation, in-game, recovery, injury assessment/management, etc., etc.. Those who understand it (definitely not me!), what do you think?- AI in Footy
He's using A.I.? I thought we'd have exclusive dibs on 'The Big German'! Though he did end up as a part-time assistant coach at the Dorks in 2001...- Farewell James Harmes
He did alright in that game, didn't he. Best wishes, James. - AI in Footy
