Gawny's Captains Diary
I posted this on another thread. Should have known there'd be a near-Christmas specific thread!๐ Our Captain is a master of understatement. His caption for Tom Sparrow's kick for goal in 'that 32 seconds' is "Tom Sparrow gets the ball away". And for Clayton Oliver's post-goal glory arc it's "Clayton Oliver celebrates a goal". LOL. Really.

QUIZ - Round 23 Last Two Minutes. Test your memory!
...which, in things MFC, would involve total recall of 'Diamond' Jim Tilbrook's debut, at (as a commentator noted) "$5 a kick"?

PLAYER NUMBERS AND BEST TEAMS
https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1042548/chandler-masters-the-art-of-off-season-work On topic, I hope: Such confidence and intent, and belief in himself as being at least equal to the exceptional incumbents. And presumably several others share all that with respect to their selves. But, in the strong hope of another healthy year, and maintained (and even improved) form, where are the opportunities for these players to better an incumbent?

POSTGAME: GRAND FINAL vs Western Bulldogs
Just the right word, Fork. I let out a literal primal scream, a sound I'd never made before, piercing, and entirely involuntary (scared my partner - and me a bit!). Funny thing is, I can't be certain it was that goal; I think it was - must have been? - and so I'm with you on your other point: How I'd love to relive that moment and feeling in real time. Perhaps next time(/year?๐) there will be the same moments and we can watch it all more mindfully and come away with better-filled memory banks.

The No T$ No B$ Thread
๐Yep, we've got to take any and all opportunities to remind them of 2021! However, a misunderstanding methinks, M. Frog? Geelong would have been 1930 premiers under the current system. They beat C'ood'nt in the first grand final but the C'ood'nts challenged as minor premiers and won the challenge.

- What they're saying about Max elsewhere
Rather off topic but it is a Max thread... Our Captain is a master of understatement. In his 2021 diary, his caption for Tom Sparrow's kick for goal in 'that 32 seconds' is "Tom Sparrow gets the ball away". And for Clayton Oliver's post-goal glory arc it's "Clayton Oliver celebrates a goal". LOL. Really.- The No T$ No B$ Thread
I hope you guys, and everyone else on here, actually hang on well beyond the due date for that (last day of September, 2025), but a 4peat would put the C'ood'nt's record to the sword...well, to the dagger at least. If they'd played 1930 under the current, longstanding grand final arrangements, Geelong would have been premiers. So, a pure, 21st century, 4peat will trump the dodgy early 20th century one!- Reece Conca Appointed Player Development Manager
..and didn't he like being 'on the spot' with Tom Sparrow after his goal, rjay! Indeed it does, DS! Good spotting๐ Conca cheaper than Byrnes, then? If so, an even better get!๐ Ah ha!๐- Reece Conca Appointed Player Development Manager
Reporting to Mark Williams? Sourced by him too? What do we think?- Welcome to Demonland - Georgia Campbell
A 10-year career, Paulo, and it'll be a challenge for you, let alone the rest of us, to remember the call! Nice if it eventuates though. As would be a strong start towards it this season ๐- Saturday Morning on Demonland (10)

I've found I'm getting a bit of "I'm not a Dees supporter but I know someone who is" and "I'm not a Dees supporter but my [insert family member] is". 'Tis a Tardis-like bandwagon๐- POSTGAME: GRAND FINAL vs Western Bulldogs
Got about half a doz pages to catch up on and ๐ and ๐ but in the interim wanted to post about an odd feeling triggered by re-viewing (many times!) the boys on the podium. Very hard to explain but, at that point, the red and blue colours I've followed all my now-longish life, suddenly appeared surreally new to me, almost 'parallel-universe' to those familiar hues and familiar combination. In trying to understand this, some things that occur to me are that 1. the last time we were so successful, such images were in black and white, 2. the colours have never been 'showered' in the confetti era, and 3. seeing the team in the all-blue-and-red, traditionally-patterned, strip is actually quite rare these days. Anyone else identify with this (as far as they can understand me!)?
