Harry Sheezel really can play. I’ve watched him grow as a player and a person since he started 10 years ago in the AJAX Under 8s and he’s going places. Hard to see him landing at the Demons but he would be a great fit by every metric.

Rare air: The top-10 draft hopeful with MASSIVE numbers

He is a gun but unless we find a way to trade up to a pick in the top 3, then he will not be available.  I have an inkling once we receive the Jackson picks that we will have a crack at getting WC’s pick 2.  Just an opinion.

Thanks, there is a lot I don't consider when it comes to future rule adjustments...

@Demons11 what's your take on why most clubs (but not all??) would play 2 rucks... what's the purpose, what does it allow?

And if you have the 2 best, what advantage does that give you - beyond hit outs, and hit outs to advantage?

I think most play 2 in some form because the game is to hard for an individual to ruck all game.  I think the biggest advantage we will see with Gawn and Grundy is the ability for them to use their attributes.  Gawns ruck work will continue to shine but I think in times when we are under seige they can also throw him behind the ball and let Grundy ruck.  Grundy is also like an extra mid and will provide so much flexibility around the ball.

I wonder what the specific strategy of getting Grundy across to co-exist with Gawn is,  that,  wouldn't render Gawn (or Grundy himself) into marginal roles...

There has to be a highly specific reason/plan/strategy why the FD want Grundy as a direct replacement (not necessarily like for like) for Jackson,

What are his attributes that he has displayed historically, that can help the team system, and contribute in a meaningful way that his highly specific attributes allow...whilst ALSO allowing the premier ruckman in the league, who also has highly specific yet different attributes, also flourish, and thus help the team achieve the aim of another premiership.

It's probably not about bombing it into the F50 pockets...I'd be pondering it a bit deeper than that.

I think you will find most clubs will play 2 rucks next year with the talk of a 5 man interchange, we will just have the 2 best in the league

Not if we offered him a Contract, which doesn't appear to be the case. Would much rather keep, definately!

We actually did offer him a contract earlier in the year which he decided not to sign.  Now, we have other priorities.

I  concede a little on Kossie but do you think the others had good seasons...cobber

Were you the one that said early days in the finals that Geelong and Collingwood were crepe and the Dee's would walk right through them?

Or are you just one of the duffers who can't see the difference between supporting and ignoring the obvious?

    ....cobber

    ...

The same players who won us a flag last year and took the team to 2nd on the ladder this year.  Yeah, horrible seasons.

Your comment was that if we don’t add anymore players we will plateau, which is nonsensical when we have so many players in their early 20’s who will continue to develop and improve.

I’d prefer just to ignore so called supporters who makes statements that have no substance. Is that obvious enough for you?

Absolutely not enough. We need pacey ball users. The players we are likely to lose need replacing with more quality, otherwise this list will completely plateau. We did not better the list last year, we need to this year. Grundy alone does not address one single issue we had this year.

    Completely plateau 🤦🏼‍♂️

Trac, Oliver, Petty, Kozzie, Spargs, Sparrow, Rivers will plateau, will they? None of these players are yet to hit their peak.

Brisbane in the premiership window looking to add Gunston & Dunkley and potentially grab Bowes & pick 7.  Wow.

Cats reigning premiers and could add Henry and Bruhn and potentially grab Bowes & pick 7.
    Wow.

So Bowes is playing for 2 clubs next year, amazing

    Wow..

Out if all players you'd think would think the club be chasing Gunston hard it would be us..

Massive disappointment once again that we didn't throw our hat in the ring for a player that fits a significant need for us.

This whole putting our eggs in the Grundy basket isn't that impressive one bit.

If Gunston was going to stay in Melbourne, he would have stayed with Hawthorn.

    Lol on current form?

    Nah.

Grundy has huge question marks on his body and will be 29 at the start of the year.

Doesn't even fit a significant need compared to what Gunston.

Gunston has had just as many injuries and I doubt we were ever in the picture for Gunston.  I’m sure it’s a lifestyle change for him

Good to see a team that beat us in the finals adding Dunkley, Gunston and Ashcroft, while we lose LJ and replace him with Grundy.

🙄  The trade week hasn’t even started and Grundy is a better player than Gunston and Dunkley

    Jackson worth>Naughton worth IMO

(let alone chucking in a 2nd rounder as well)

Your bias is blinding you there, I’d take Naughton as a straight swap for Jackson in a heart beat

Come on Demons11, there are scrubs on DL but you aren't one of them.

Yes I'm not going to pretend i'm a physio and say i've studied the lisfranc injury to within an inch of its life but I've read a few good articles from specialists. The track record of this injury is awful with players and usually means lengthy time periods out of the game, I'm yet to hear of a minor Linsfranc injury.

It's fair to say you back in the medical staff's judgement, that's fair. But I and others have got some questions about their all round performance there as well. It's looking like Max was rushed back, Jackson played injured and many more questionable cases. It is possible that they got it wrong this year in more cases than one.

T-mac is a required player next year and risking playing him in a VFL final didn't make sense to me. This stuff about players playing the game they love above all cautious measures? I get it but it reminds me of the Jack Viney syndrome that kept setting him back so often.

Fair points and yes my attitude with my response could have been made without being rude, so I take your point.   I’ve actually done a lisfranc injury myself and there are certainly different degrees of it.  I think all involved at the Dees wound have the players health as their number 1 priority and would take calculated risks on a players injury just as they did with May last year.   I think the premise of holding players back for the following year is a fraught with danger as their are no guarantees of success.  Anyway we see different sides which what makes the world go round.  Enjoy the GF today

Yeah. Lisfranc injury - extremly hard to come back from quickly and in most cases come back the same, metal plate in foot - very hard to run again fully within 12 weeks.

It doesn't take an intimate knowledge Demons11. Some things are obvious.

Some things are just obvious to someone who can read what a lisfranc injury is on google.  I’ll take the view of the Melbourne doctors and high performance team over you Dr. Google
