I admire tremendously the conservative American Jewish commentator Dennis Prager, who started life on the Left. He sums up my views on religion and atheism perfectly in this article. I'm interested in your thoughts on his views. http://www.dennisprager.com/a-response-to-richard-dawkins-2/

Just as an aside, atheism is far more dangerous than religion. If the entire world was atheist it would be bedlam.

How you don't think there's a correlation of more danger to society with an increased Islamic population is extraordinary. I must be imagining those security checks at the MCG. As the Muslim population increases as a percentage of Australia's overall population there's greater risk to society. Do you even do Europe ?

This is disingenuous rubbish. I've stated clearly, and often, that I have no issue with Muslims. I have a massive issue with Islam. Clearly and obviously, not all Muslims practice Islam as it's intended. However, Islam is unambiguous. There is no wriggle room. NONE I recommend you actually learn something about Islam rather than concentrate on the thoughts and actions of some Muslims. They are COMPLETELY different issues. Thankfully, many Muslims are Westernised. Thankfully, many Muslims don't understand the Qur'an and their own religion. Thankfully, many who know what's expected of them under Islam don't have the inclination to practice what's expected. Thankfully, many recognise that Islam needs to be modernised. Thankfully, more than half of Muslims around the world don't want to indoctrinate the rest of the world. They're not the ones who concern me. Like all lessons throughout history, it's not the silent peace loving citizens who present the dangers, but unfortunately, despite their goodwill they don't stop the dangers from happening. Most Germans weren't blood thirst Nazis. Most Japanese were peace loving. And the list of examples goes on. But atrocities still happened despite their goodwill because the fundamentalists controlled their societies. We have a very small percentage of Muslims and a very very small percentage of fundamentalists. I'd like to keep it that way. Because, as the Muslim population grows so too does the danger to your boy and his future offspring.

It didn't address a single element of Islam. It was totally irrelevant. But, by all means, point out to me the aspects of Islam that were addressed ?

I'm shocked that a rabid Lefty works at a University ? Who'd have thought. Thanks for fessing up that you have 4-5 Muslim friends and not dozens. I suspect they're acquaintances and not "break bread and drink wine" type of friends. As for a strategy to deal with the dangers of Islam within Australia ? Firstly, don't import anymore. Don't permit any new mosques to be built. And monitor the activities of known radicals. Islam is completely incompatible with freedom and democracy. ALL practising Muslims want to live under sharia. If they don't want to live under sharia they're either ignorant of their own theocracy or pretend Muslims. Are you familiar with sharia, Jara ?

This is hogwash. It's just a copy and paste. Islam is Islam. You either practice it or you don't. You clearly have no clue about Islam. Don't be offended, but you're wasting my time.

I'm surprised there are not apologies from posters in this thread. Some of the comments by dolts re Hogan were pathetic.

I'm talking about Islamic adherents in the purest sense. If someone considers themself a Muslim, but doesn't practice the orthodoxy of the Qur'an then no problem. You're referencing westernised Muslims, who for the purposes of this discussion I don't consider orthodox Muslims. There's no ambiguity in Islam. The Muslims you're referencing wouldn't attend mosques. Those that do are not able to befriend the kaffir. I've always said that I have no issue with Muslims, because many take out of Islam what they want to in varying degrees. But I have a massive issue with Islam. It's insidious and there's NO wriggle room. It's an all encompassing set of beliefs and laws. It has complete governance over society. Study sharia and you'll appreciate Islam and all it holds dear. It's as much a political ideology as a religion. Thankfully, not all Muslims want to live under sharia. Those that do are a huge concern.

It's not "who" we're beating, it's "how" we're doing it. No.1 contested ball team in the competition by a mile is the key. So is our spread and kicking. Injuries will be the key. -

You can be cautious, which is why you started the "is Goody the right guy" thread. In the meantime I'll smoke my pipe in the knowledge that we're on the verge of great things. It may not be this year, but it's coming. -
No, I'm not. But I am suggesting there's no reason we should fall in a hole and there's no reason a good team can't keep winning.

I see a lot of similarities in our list with Geelong 2007. They won 10.5 games in 2006, which is the year Bomber almost got the bullet. It's not a perfect analogy, because Geelong played finals in 2004 and 2005, nonetheless I think the talent levels are somewhat similar. Early in 2007 Geelong were 2 wins from 5 games and self reflecting after a loss to North at home. Paul Chapman famously addressed his teammates after that loss. Geelong beat Richmond by 157 points in Round 6 to get their season back on track. In fact, they went on to win the next 15 games in a row and lost just one more for the year as they secured their first flag since 1963. Now clearly I'm not suggesting we'll do the same, but this precedent from a young and inconsistent side shows that we haven't necessarily peaked too early. We will lose games. We will play badly where nuffies will get hot under the collar. And there will be plenty of time to regain form. just enjoy what they're doing now.

No disrespect intended, but all you've done is highlight to me that you're utterly ignorant of Islam. And if you're ignorant of the subject you have no way understanding of the issues. It would be like me posting on a soccer forum when I have no clue about the game. Addressing your claim... I doubt you have "dozens of Muslim friends and colleagues", but if I give you the benefit of the doubt and assume there's veracity in your claims then I can assure you they're non practising Muslims. They're Muslim in name only. And for that I'm thankful. We have westernised Muslims living here and abroad and they pose no real danger (certainly not if they're in a country with a very low percentage of population levels). But, as stated, they're not practising Islam as authorised by the Qur'an. There are many non practising Muslims who are ignorant of the Qur'an and hadiths and somewhat shocked when it's explained to them in detail. If their children start attending Mosques then they'll have offspring who do present a clear danger. You're what's wrong with the Left, Jara. You come bounding in here with forceful opinions, but you've got no clue about Islam, the Qur'an, Imams who preach at Mosques, and the agenda of many within our Islamic communities. It's why they consider the Left "useful idiots".
-
Yeah. It was so unusual for a team not to get stuck into a player in that situation it was very noticeable. It's clearly been an instruction from Goodwin and I like it. Reverse arrogance Although you can see Petracca saying a few words to him (but not looking at him) as he was walking off.

Preseason Carey didn't pick us for the eight. He also harped on about the camp. He doesn't "trust" us. When you have an ego as big as Carey it's hard to let go of your publicly pronounced proclamations. A team that has won the second most quarters in a row in the history of the game deserves a little trust. -
I'll ask you again... How do you think Islam treats women and gays ? I'm looking forward to a detailed response. While your at it, give me your take on Rafiki's alarming statistics re the beliefs of Muslims in Middle Eastern countries. We import people with those beliefs.
-
Thanks for your considered response, but as Rafiki succinctly highlights in the post above yours I don't think you're realise the extent of the issue within Islam and the Middle East. Have you heard of the Muslim Brotherhood's "An Explanatory Memorandum: From the Archives of the Muslim Brotherhood in America" ? It is telling. And if you haven't I suggest you google it. It was written in 1991 and presented as evidence in a USA court case. I'll share this snippet: From the Explanatory Memorandum– the Muslim Brotherhood in America in its own words: “The process of settlement is a ‘Civilization-Jihadist Process’ with all the word means. The Ikhwan [Muslim Brotherhood] must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and “sabotaging” its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.” In a broader sense... There are two main issues for Islam, which are difficult to solve. Firstly, the Qur'an cannot be modernised, as every word is supposed to be that of Allah (and there are unambiguous issues with much of the text). And secondly, unlike Christianity, there's no head figure, or anything like the papacy within Islam providing direction. The radicalisation starts in the mosques, which is also problematic.

A couple of fun facts: Our lowest score over the past 3 weeks is 146 points. Brayshaw and Petracca combined today for 59 disposals and 6 goals.
-
Brayshaw and Viney in the guts was huge. Combined with our new forward structure we are nothing like the team that lost to Hawthorn early in the year. We would beat them by 10 goals if we played them next week.

So many words yet not one addresses the real issues. Firstly, being anti Islamism has nothing to do with race. And secondly, there are many Muslims, who have grave concerns about the spread of Islamism. Why do you think many Muslims fear Islam and the intent of many ? I can only assume you've never studied the Qur'an, or are remotely familiar with Islam. Answer me this. How do you think Islam treats women and gays ? I'm looking forward to a detailed response. "No-one is more hated than he who speaks the truth." Plato
