  1. He also played very well against the Giants in round 23 and was good against West Coast in round 22. Weideman averaged the 11th most contested marks for the season for players with at least 10 games. It might not be enough for you, but it's enough for me. He's 21 and miles off his peak. His upside is enormous.
  2. Off the ball scuffles or the odd tackle don't demonstrate much. Put vandenBerg, Viney, or Oliver 2 metres from a loose ball, equal distance apart and win that footy. That tells me if you're tough. You usually don't go pick 2 unless you can play, so I'm more than happy to reunite them if he's good enough.
  3. I always thought Angus was a really hard at the body player from the get go and don't recall any moments of hesitation. But I could be wrong.
  4. I saw when you posted it. You tend to become fixated with a view based on a small body of evidence. You then run with it as fact. When you have a large body of material to work with I reckon you nail it better than most.
  5. Yeah, nah. We targeted May, because we had a weakness in the backline that kind Freddy could see. Mahoney acknowledged this in his SEN interview. Our 2019 backline (when Lever's back) will be the best I've seen following the Dees (memory early 70s). Let's give it a go, shall we.
  6. I've twice seen Andrew squib incidents this year, but he's a first year player, so you cut him slack. One was a really bad moment. He may turn out to be a star but I didn't see a lot to be overly enthused by. Cerra on the other hand...
  7. You overthink things.
  8. Incorrect. It has since come out that Hogan said in his exit interview he was hoping to explore the option of returning home. He then had a coffee with Goodwin a week, or so, later and they both agreed to try and make it happen. These facts are at odds with the poster in questions assertions.
  9. Especially when he admitted that playing in front of friends and family was more important to him than success at this stage of his career. Sounds like something Watts would say. I've not been in an AFL environment but I'd be amazed if the best young talent at a club don't make a pact with each other to do stick together and win a flag. See ya buddy.
  10. The stat I really liked was in his second year and pre injury issues he averaged the most metres gained for the Suns and 13th most in the competition. It's just the player we need.
  11. It's peanuts like you who would have carried on like a stuck pig when we gave up pick 3 and slid pick 13 to 20 when he was an unproven 17 year old. You would have been beside yourself and carrying on like a pork chop. You, and your like, are the great spectators who never have anything on the line. How easy it is.
  12. Mahoney on Kolodjashnij: “We are confident his concussion issues are over and we have seen our own success with that with Angus Brayshaw and Neville Jetta who have had concussion issues over the last couple years.” “We are confident with that. Through our midfield, we think we need more run, we need someone who can play a legitimate role on the wing and halfback." “Our recruiting team loved Kade when he got drafted five years ago and to be able to bring him in, we know he can play those positions. “We think he is a really good addition for us in the midfield.”
  13. Only one Carlton player remonstrated. And it was a half-hearted token effort.
  14. I don't think missing an entire year (bar one game) with back issues helped Hogan's development though. He was just a gun straight off, as his B&F from 11 completed games as an 18 year old for Casey showed.
  15. He's 190cm and they see him as a wing/half-back runner with his accurate left foot. Mahoney said this morning he'll become part of the midfield rotation.
  16. How is giving up one first round pick and having pick 13 slide to pick 20 paying more than receiving picks 6 and 23 ? It's a flawed way of thinking anyway. What you pay for something is irrelevant to the market when you go to sell it six years later.
  17. Fantastic. And just the type you want to run on to a ground with. We're building a seriously tough team.
  18. Throwing in pick "65" is a "kick in the teeth" ? Amusing
  19. Let's not forget that a captain of another club has joined the Dees. When did that last happen ? Was Ditterich captain when he came to the Dees ? This is significant. Don't underestimate the calibre of people we're bringing in. Tough bastard too.
  20. I'd spend the next 3 years planting the seeds of a return. It's a different landscape and he'll hate being the centre of attention in a small town over the next few years. I know it's a silly thought, but I don't care.
  21. What would you have done ?
  22. It was his choice to go. Hard to keep a player that wants out. You do the best you can in that situation.
  23. Again... It means he plays his last game under this contract as a 31 year old, not 32. You know, the same age Lake arrived at Hawthorn.
  24. Brian Lake played his first game for Hawthorn as a 31 year old. Played in 3 flags.
