The best way to make Oscar better is to keep playing him. He'll be far better with 60 AFL games under his belt. That said, he does make inexplicable mistakes. My main query is his lack of pace. But I have no doubt he'll be better when he's stronger. Goody and Macca really rate him, so I don't think they'll be dropping him any time soon.

I think we started spreading them out wide better plus we started kicking more. In that first quarter we had more kicks than handballs. We overused the footy and turned it over too often. That ratio changed after quarter time as we kicked more than handballed. The game-plan is still a work in progress and we'll learn a lot from that game going forward.

Some people not giving Hogan votes baffles me. Put simply we don't win that game without Hogan. Four contested marks, 5 marks inside 50 plus the goals he directly created for Garlett. He's going to have a cracking year and is underrated in the footy world.

I'm amazed people post on a game day thread when the game is actually on. The last thing I think of doing is reading during the game let alone posting during the game.

Teams are far more dangerous when they have a spread of 9-10+ goal-kickers, rather than a player kicking 6 or 7. If you go back through the last 20 years every premiership team, save for Sydney in 2005, was in the top two for spread of goal-kickers.

Did you see Cripps last night ? He was a shadow of his 2016 and that's because he's underdone. This is where I place faith in the sports science guys and match committee to know who's right to go. Sometimes a player is only a week away, but that week can make a difference. Round 1 gets a lot of attention, but the season is long and every player we like doesn't have to be played in round 1 if it's deemed they're not ready.
