If we trade 2 first rounders and pay Lever 800k the club has lost the plot and is in no way a destination club as they will try to claim. By my calculations that would make him our highest paid player, and one that has achieved little at AFL level. It would set a shocking precedent and cause other players to hold out like Martin. I would guess Prestria being offered similar money to him had a major role in delaying contracts throughout the season and then signing for 500k a season above his original offer. Oliver, Petracca and Oliver are all better prospects and other clubs will be waiting to pounce if this occurs. He would want to start being a key position player if this happens. -

No, I would say I've watched probably 70% of his games this year. Coffs up Tom McDonald style goals most games I see. Rarely plays on good players and is part of the best backline combination in the AFL. What do you disagree with from what I said? Is 16 possessions a good return fora 3rd tall? Is he a better than average kick? Is he quick? Does he play on good players? Name some he has played in if so. Are Smith and Laird not good runners? -

Is a third tall with average disposal and not amazing pace. Struggles on key forwards. He has good runners beside him at Adelaide but without them he would not offer nearly as much. 16 disposals a game is very low for a third tall. -

Is over rated by more than people just on this site. Our FD is we have offered him 850+ The AA selectors -
How could you disagree with the statement? He said for the right offer. Of course we would trade any of these players for the right offer.

He should never have returned to the seniors late in the season. I, amongst many other posters made comments along these lines following his VFL game against Box Hill. The fact is he didn't earn his spot and the FD were gifting him games despite all the crap they talk about with players earning games based on form. Same thing happened prior to his debut last year. It was so good he ended up with 6 and 10 possessions. I don't enjoy getting stuck into our players, especially young ones who didn't choose to be drafted where they were, but if I have to go through a whole off season reading about Weideman developing nicely..... I can't help but call a spade a spade. People talk about Weideman developing into a good player as a fait accompli. It will be a major bonus if he makes it based on what he has shown so far.
-
All well and good to bring up McKay, but I don't rate him and think he will be a bust as well. I was responding to a poster who said he was developing nicely. I don't think anyone thinks McKay is developing nicely. Curnow and Weideman played the same amount of footy in the two years prior to the draft. Hipwood played because there is no one else? That makes it more impressive, we gifted Weideman games this year and he didn't produce. I expect him to show qualities that will make a good AFL player, I have not seen these. Some believe they have but I doubt the same people would be saying they have if he was drafted at pick 66.
-
How is he developing nicely? Curnow and Hipwood are developing nicely. Weideman has shown little to get excited about. The gym is always a cop out for a reason. Hipwood is much skinnier.
-
Really? A football lesson? 10 possession and 1 goal? He had a shocking day, but no need to rewrite history.

Who? were we watching the same game? Harris Andrews makes Oscar look like a speed demon. McStay kept kicking it to us. Their opponents kicked 9 goals. -
2017 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch

I have only seen the foxtel games for this crop including last year as 17 year olds, but he seems to really overrate the talls in this draft. I think Braysahw, O'Brien and Hunter Clark are much better prospects than he is giving them credit for. It seems others rate Stephenson a lot higher also, but he is one I find hard to judge. Don't like his kicking action at all. Jason Taylor said something similar about the talls coming through in the draft in the podcast. -

Salem doesn't have that kind of value. -
Trade Tyson and Salem for him In all seriousness, I think he would frustrate the hell out of us. Having a great season but for a good kick always misses when going for goal.
-
I'm pretty sure the conversation would turn to his speaking skills pretty quickly.
-
He was stuck in a forward pocket with the ball barely coming down in the 1st quarter. Moved into the midfield and had 28 touches in the next 3 quarters, generated a lot of run and caused all sorts of problems for our midfield. Viney was great early, but faded badly, he was opposed to Gray often in the 2nd half. Oliver was once again too happy to handball and on numerous occasions put teammates under pressure by taking the wrong option. Tyson was wasteful, competed hard but butchered the ball. Hunt's disposal was worse than Tyson's.
-
Who were your best 3 on the ground? Robbie Gray changed the game when moved into the middle. Hibberd played 4 good quarters. Boak was very damaging. If that was his top 3, that's fair enough.

Not how I remember it, started the season really well then dropped off and was playing really poorly. Had 1 or maybe 2 good games and suddenly was a surprise inclusion for the Hawthorn game where he played well (on a first gamer). Since then has been extremely average to the extent that most supporters were impressed because he laid some tackles against Adelaide. He is young and has time on his side but with young players you look at their attributes and that's why some people (like myself) don't just assume he will be a good player because he was an early pick. Hipwood was taken in the same draft and is head and shoulders ahead of Weideman at this stage (also over 200m). McCartin has clearly shown more at AFL level, has had many nearly moments. Weideman struggles to get involved. -

Interested to see how Fogarty goes in the Nationals. From the limited vision I've seen of him he appears to be in that Scharanberg, Francis mould. Where he will be sold as a potential midfielder but isn't one. Still in love with Rayner and find it hard to see him slipping to 7 despite his fitness concerns. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
Watts the matter replied to DemonLad5's topic in Melbourne Demons
I (used to) like him but I have noticed this a lot this year. The amount of times he makes good position and then misses the ball or lets it through is outrageous, it's like when Tom McDonald is having one of those games. However, he is a nice kick, I am going cold on him though. -

He had another pretty poor one, when he couldn't stick the tackle on Watts at the top of the goal square. -

You would be furious trading a first rounder for May? I'd be furious if we didn't jump at an offer like that. He would be in the top 5 tall defenders in the competition. -

My understanding was that Jurrah didn't drink before coming to Melbourne? I can't remember Sambono kicking a drop punt in that highlight video.Reminds me a little bit of Jeffy.
