  1. Valid question, it was more in relation to the quality of the opposition and playing against what appeared to be smaller opponents in an extremely open forward line. I agree his movement was/is a major issue and have my fingers crossed for a significant improvement in this area.
  2. Did you watch the highlights? Pretty poor highlights by the MFC website as they didn't show how he got a number of his set shots. Admittedly, I am not a big fan of Weideman, but I find it hard to get excited by the highlights of any player from that game. I would be a lot more interested in his pressure acts than 5 easy goals. Hunt did the only thing that took my notice in the highlights (a great run down tackle), but he is in a big form slump.
  3. He might be the temporary but I doubt he is the future. With Tom McDonald in he wouldn't even be on the selection radar. Serious question, has he ever kicked a goal that isn't from a set shot or joe the goose? Needs to add some more strings to his bow.
  4. Your exact words were "Don't think Lever did a thing wrong against Brisbane." Now that is nonsense if I have ever heard it. It's not just about mistakes, he is giving us nothing more than a fringe player would have this far.
  5. I enjoyed it, but it was clearly a free kick.
  6. He did many things wrong, his first contest he comes in from the side unimpeded and completely misses the ball, leaving his opponent on the ground front and center. Got away with it, but a player of his 'apparent' calibre should be doing better. He went up and spoiled Hogan for a mark when it was just the two of them. He got away with punching Christensen in the head inside 50. I'm sure there are countless other mistakes, these are just off the top of my head. He is being judged harshly because he is probably our highest paid player.
  7. I actually think from listening to Goodwin's comments at one stage it was more a case of our recruitment team than him that wanted Lever (I'm not saying he didn't want him). Roos from all reports was very keen in his draft year and I think I have read has a connection with his dad. We have paid a significant amount to get Lever across so he will always be judged accordingly.
  8. No he wasn't. He was average in AFLX. He was poor in JLT1. He was good in JLT2.
  9. Yes, we have 4 emergencies but they don't all travel for interstate games. Kent and Frost are the other 2.
  10. Brayshaw is not listed as an emergency. Emergencies are Kent, Frost, Stretch and Maynard.
  11. 29 against West Coast in 2016. Play the ball tough guy.
  12. Unless you're Melbourne and can lose even when you have 29 more inside 50s.
  13. No, your opinion isn't fact, that's where it's at. You might believe its the most important role in footy but few would agree with you. If you would take him ahead of any of Oliver, Petracca or Hogan you have rocks in your head.
  14. As a 2nd tall or 3rd tall?
  15. As did Richmond, that is why I don't rate him as highly. I don't disagree that when he has it on his terms he is a very good player. It's when he doesn't that is my concern.
  16. No, I've long held this view and you could see that in the numerous threads prior to Lever joining us. He is not a key position player and is not quick or an exceptional kick. It will be interesting to see how the year pans out. Posters calling for Frost to come into the team so Lever can play his role kind of reinforces this view.
  17. Lever is quite overrated, by both Guthrie and the Melbourne recruitment staff. Oliver is a mile ahead.
  18. In which way? I got the impression that he didn't think he needed to go. Is that what you thought?
  19. As was suspected by many, Brayshaw and Tyson were not deemed to be in the best 22 based on their preseasons. Pathetic decision by the selection committee to leave Tyson out for Maynard who did not show he was an AFL capable player throughout the preseason. Interview really didn't give much as they were asking him questions that he would not be able to answer honestly as the captain.
  20. Saty, after JLT 1 when I said Brayshaw would not be in our round 1 team based on merit, you said I was wrong and said Goodwin loved his game etc. What do you believe the reason is for his exclusion. Form or wisdom teeth?
  21. This is when you know you're in trouble. O'Brien is an ordinary player who can take a nice grab from time to time but lacks the all round game and will never make it as a result.
  22. Such a poor point and simplistic analysis that focuses on just one stat in the least attacking team seen since Melbourne under Neeld. Curnow is light years ahead in every statistical evaluation from last season. I think you've hit the nail on the head with the description about their builds. We drafted yesterdays footballer while Carlton picked up the future of football. I wish Weideman well, but unless he magically improves his agility there will be no role for him with Hogan and McDonald up forward.
  23. I like it, but it sounded like Maynard will be getting a gig on the Melbourne podcast.
  24. Well this probably indicates it's not just luck and probably our incompetence, given the Trengove situation.
  25. I questioned this after JLT1 but I think his form in the 2nd game ensured he will play round 1.
