If Black wanted 2x years he could get it on the GC or GWS list. No other club would give him that. Still a gun, but he is one injury of his career ending. You don't put money and games into those players. Farren Ray is available after a stint at a second club for the same reason his first club moved him on- outside player who goes missing far too often. He isn't getting any younger and still cannot impose himself on a game of footy. Has games that are super, then does nothing for 3 weeks. You would expect more from a top 5 draft pick who should be in the prime of his career (he is 25 years old with 146 games to his name)

Now for the crumbing pacy small forward
Adzman replied to Grandson of a gun's topic in Melbourne Demons
Have to agree with Aaron Davey getting a go forward. He has a lethal kick and can cause headaches for defenders who like to run and rebound. Flash can run them down as good as anyone. Flash's days are numbered in the backline with an emerging Blease/Tappy and a fit Bail and Strauss. Stick flash in the middle, or put him forward. I think building some form forward might just be what he needs to turn his luck around. -
Good luck to him....he is going to need it!!

I think we could do better than pick #39, but if we only have one offer we might look at sorting something out if he is that keen to get out of the MFC. The Dogs will use pick 17 on a player, so 39 is their next best pick. A 3rd team could make this possible. Odds of finding a player better than Bate with pick #39 is pretty unlikely, so if a deal can't be struck I would give him a run in the midfield.

Give him #1. I think the club might give Viney Jnr #31 to try and restore some value to it. Todds #12 will be Sylvias for a while.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MITCH CLARK
Adzman replied to waynewussell's topic in Melbourne Demons
You don't give up a first round pick and 2.2m over 4 years for a spare part. Clarke is going to slot straight into the best 22 and will make us scarier. Steph Martin could find himself playing around the ground, as could Watts. Huge move. Overnight the sleepy demons have become a team getting some attention. Something tells me we have another deal or two left in us (Bate/Maric/Warnock). Great work so far by the MFC. -
Run out of chances. Any deal we can put together is good for the club, even if we only advance 3 spots in the draft. Maric still might make a good AFL footballer, but not here.
-
With such a shallow draft you would think there is an outside chance of him playing on. Didn't impress me, but I hear good things about his character which always helps at an emerging club like ours.
-
I would rather sign an entire biker gang than sign Andrew Lovett. Lovett is a little snake in the grass, and is poison to any footy club. His footy days are numbered.
-
Whatever we get is going to be better than nothing. Warnock has packed his bags and won't be playing for the MFC again. Even if we upgrade a pick it is better than nothing. Here is hoping we could land an extra pick inside the top 40 that could be used in another deal.
-
Howe and Bail are starring up and comers, but don't think for a second that the dees wouldn't send either player packing if they were requested to get a deal done. Both of those guys are attractive trade pieces for other clubs, and neither of those guys are locks for best 22 when everyone is fit. I think both are important for us to build, and value what they bring. But untouchable they are not. Personally I would have Gys in the untouchables list, but even his name might come up at the right price.

If you were granted three wishes during trade week ...
Adzman replied to a topic in Melbourne Demons
If I had 3 wishes it would be that instead of trading for someone elses superstars we manage to land a future All Australian with every pick we have in the upcoming draft. 3x wishes for 3 drafts. That would be a home grown dream team! -
McNabb is out of town fo' sure! He cannot seem to make it work. Keen on David Garrard at the Vikes?? Seems like an okay fit for now. How will my texans do with Andre out for 3-4 weeks??? If we win the next 3 look out AFC!

A whole new ball game for Cale under a new coach. He needs to stay fit and put in on the track if he wants to not only stay at the club, but to stay in the AFL. Agree that he is on his last legs, and needs to show us all why Gary Lyon still gushes over the mention of his name. He has the football talent no doubt, but the application needs to come because the excuses have run out as we build a premiership core.

If we lose Warnock and Joel we end up with little to no depth in the back 6. I have no issues with Joel getting another 2 years with us. He is not in our best 22 but does a nice job of doing his role when he does get in our best 22. Never one to disappoint when he gets a game. Rivers, Grimes and Garlo don't have a great history of staying fit.
-
Injuries aside, he is now in out best 22 especially with Scully leaving the building. Showed plenty of grit for a kid. 2012 is a big year for him and I think he is going to be a ripper of a player going forward.

I forgot Carlton had a magic salary cap. How the hell are they going to be able to accommodate Goddards salary?
-
Are you sure that was Bartel, I could have sworn it was the actual school girl....
-
Goldsack has some currency. Depends on what we could get him for. Could Goldsack make our best 22? Not interested in trading for depth players. Byrnes is okay, but not really what we need.
-
A 5 game player that has a rising star nomination would never be cut off a list. That, and he is under contract. Not sure what they are smoking down at punt road, but they can move on to another rumor because this one does not hold any truth to it.
-
Mick Malthouse had a solid coaching career and I tilt my hat to him. Can't say I like him, but I the respect the man. As for Mick going forward, I think 2012 is a year for him to reflect. He could go the way of a David Parkin and spend the rest of his days in the football wilderness, or Mick could come back to a club in some role. You don't spend that long in footy and walk way without in skills. He still has much to teach, and plenty to offer. Although I do get the impression he may have coached his last game as a head coach in this league. Could be of great use to a GWS or GC Suns team. Good luck to him.

Maybe they missed Neeld in the coaches box....

A guy named Steph Martin got dragged over the coals at the end of last season, and he ended up being a saving grace for 2011. A guy named Jamar had the same treatment on here 2 years earlier, and has gone on to become a premier ruckman in this competition. I think it is fair to say we shouldn't be making a call on a young tall after 1 game of footy. Give him another 2 years to find his place. On Spencer, I think the club did the right thing signing him at the time. The interchange rule all but killed the second traditional ruckman rendering Spencer almost unusable. He is probably more in line for the chop than Fitzy.

Kosi is one of the biggest busts of the last 15 years. He has all the athleticism to be a top AFL big, but he just has no freakin awareness of the game or the players around him. It is like he is playing a different game when he is out there. Kosi will go down in history as one of the players that "could have been something special" PASS for me.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
Adzman replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
He must be THAT GOOD. A 5 year deal is unheard of, unless of course your name is Kouta and this is the 90s.
