Jones work rate is one of the reasons he has racked up so many games in his first 2 seasons. His disposal let him down at times, and is one of his major flaws. If Roos is aggressive at the trade table, Jones might be a name thrown up to send back salary on an incoming deal. Jones may stay on at the MFC, and probably will start the season in the best side. Competition will come for spots, meaning the Matt Jones will have to work on his game to get a spot.

Nev did something that is rare in our best 22. He did his job, and did it for 4 quarters, and did it every game he played. He was a surprise packet, because I like many thought he was done. He still has some things to work on, but if he can keep doing what he did this year next, he will be a permanent fixture in our best side. Nev had a terrific season and I hope to see more of him in 2015.

Spencer's 2 year contract speaks more about our list than anything else. I don't think anyone other than Jamar thinks that he can go on past 2015, leaving Gawn, Spencer, Fitzy and King as ruck options. Gawn is the best of the lot, but after that Spencer is the most next logical choice despite his shortcoming as a footballer. Fitzy has more talent than you can poke a stick at, but is missing something. King is a project player. This means Spencer is a required player, unless we trade for a Leunberger type (who also comes with his own injury problems). Even if we draft a ruckman, Spencer will still be required until the end of 2016, giving that draft pick some time to develop in the VFL.
-
King is a prime example of a project player. Only issue is we don't have enough capable players to be spending time on project players. I think list management will see how he progresses pre-season and at the VFL in 2015 before committing to further years to develop. We are in need of some ruckman given Jamar is on his last legs, Fitzy can't string 2 consistent games together and Spencer and Gawn appear to get injured often. King is at the right club if he is good enough.

His good work is undone by his turnovers. If he can eliminate that part of his game then we have a player on our hands. If he can't reduce his turnovers to an acceptable amount then I am afraid that 2015 might be his last season. Another player who has everything to play for in 2015.

Bail turned it on at the right time and pushed himself ahead of about 10-12 others on our list. He ran hard, tackled hard and ran hard to the point where he became valuable. Still needs to work on his disposal, however Bail's 2014 was solid and deserves to be recognised as such. For Bail, 2015 will be a tougher year. Competition for spots will come next season, and Bail will start in our best 22. Can he hold on to a spot? It depends on the development of those who are not currently in the 22, and whether or not Bail can take his game up a notch. I would like to see him take his game up a level, if his can develop his kicking he could become a very very handy player for us.

I thought given Fitzy's form in 2013 and natural progression that it would be him shouldering the ruck shortages at the start of the year with Jamar out injured. Yet it was Jake Spencer who trained his backside off preseason and won the gig. Talent wise Fitzy has potential than Spencer, possibly even Gawn. Yet he sits at the bottom of our depth chart for rucks because something is missing with him. Is it intensity, effort or just a lack of football knowledge that sees him placed where he is today? Our ruck stocks raise some questions, and I used to think Fitzy was an answer to one of those questions. Outside of Gawn, I don't think we have an AFL ruckman on our list once Jamar retires (end of 2015??) If Fitzy isn't dealt at the trade table, then 2015 is a make or break season for him if he wishes to keep playing AFL football. I am hoping he turns it on, because someone with his size, speed, agility and skills should be playing AFL football.

Trenners best position is at the bottom of the pack. He isn't quick at all, but people forget he has elite endurance and was a very skillful player. It all depends on how he heals. Could still be used in a possession gathering tagger role similar to crossy. His resurgence is more of a bonus for us than anything else. We will be aggressive at the trade table so we will have a very different looking list next season which should help us climb the ladder.

If we get pick 3 for Frawley, it will be moved on. I can see Roos sending a combination of picks and players out the door to bring the right players into this footy club. It won't be a fire sale on MFC players. but if there is interest in one of our players and Roos can turn it into value for the club, he will make a deal.

I think Gwilt and Harry-O are similar type players. Big engines, plenty of run out of the backline. Not enough room for both, but enough room for one. I think I like Gwilt's price tag more given it will probably be a 2 year contract and probably a a good 100k a year less than Lumumba. Gwilt might get a 3 year deal at GWS, and rumors swirling about a Clark/Harry-O swap suggest Roos is into him.

It is interesting, but smaller guys tend to fall on draft day. I remember reading several reports about JKH being a top 25 prospect, and almost a lock to go early second round. He fell to us early 3rd round, and although he has some work to do on his game he provided some exciting moments and was certainly a good get at pick #40. That said, JKH is 175cm, Caleb Daniel is 167cm which is really small by AFL standards. Haven't seen much of Caleb Daniel, however if his skills are as good as the video suggests he should find himself a home outside of the first 3-4 rounds. Been a while since we have seen the Nathan Bourke style Helmet at AFL level. I wonder if Daniel can make that his trademark.

My brother in law is a mad carlton member and we were discussing Mitchell last night. Word on Carlton forums is they are keen to use first rounder on Mitchell and get a 3rd rounder back with him. Be interested to know what Sydney's plans are in regards to list management. I would think that dumping some salary would be important along with taking on young players on small wages. I want Mitchell, but Carlton might be more aggressive for him.

Dom was a ray of light. I just hope we can find another 1-2 players like him who just need a spot in the best 22 to show what they can do. Still like Mitchell if the swans feel like dealing, and I am sure gws would have a few guys that want to do what Dom had done and look at the dees as a place to go to do it.

What's 1 draft pick we have nailed in the past 10 years?
Adzman replied to The Stigga's topic in Melbourne Demons
Garlo was a great pick up. Had a rough year this year but he has showed plenty and has been a terrific player for this club. -
Judd's Body + Dustin Martin's Thought Process = 2015 Dane Swan

The talk is about Ryder heading to BrisVegas. Spoke to a few essendon fans who keep hearing that if he can get out of his contract he is off to Brisbane. He would be useful, but I think he will command more coin than his actual worth.
-
We have the money to trump port, but given the state of our list we probably need to spend that cap space on getting 2-3 solid players to shore up our list. Walker would be great, but we need more than big tex to turn this club around.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SAM FROST
Adzman replied to Gipsy Danger's topic in Melbourne Demons
Frost has played 12 games, so still has some growing to do. I don't think GWS are going to ask the world for him, so he could be a nice acquisition at the right price. We will see if he can be packaged with another few young stars, or come to the dees via a 1-1 type swap, whether it be a player or a pick. Hopefully he actually wants to come here, and not join Hawthorn/Collingwood like every other home sick kid! -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HERITIER LUMUMBA
Adzman replied to Moonshadow's topic in Melbourne Demons
I would sign Miley Cyrus if it would help us win games. Harry O is a [censored], but beggars can't be choosers. I just want us to be playing finals footy again. -
Great leader but finished at this level. Would have more value as an assistant coach.

I won't lie, I was amazed to see 3 players all locked up at the same time given the teams past performance. So much for the "broom coming out" My thoughts are as follows: Bail- Played well enough during the final year of his contract to warrant another. If he had been out of contract at the end of last season he would not have been given another go. Regardless of his shortcomings as a footballer, he did enough to earn another year. Hopefully he can reduce his errors so people remember him for his hard running. Terlich- Does some good things, does some bad things. I didn't have any real confidence in him getting another contract but here we are. I hope he makes the most of it, if not at least Casey will have a solid player in Terlich. He is lucky, hopefully he cashes in on that luck and can stake a claim in our best 22. Riley- Not sure why this guy gets so much heat on here. Coming off a nasty injury with no preseason into a new club and still made a fist of it. Big season coming up for him because he could possibly become important for us, or he could fade away and just become another name that didn't make the grade. I am backing Riley in, and like the signing.

Melbourne biggest issue (from an outsider)
Adzman replied to Bluey's Dad's topic in Melbourne Demons
The supporters are the only thing right about this club. Have the best fan to member ratio in the AFL, and have been loyal to a fault for many years when the club has been god awful. Sharing this misery with the great demons fans is what keeps me going. -
Priority pick could come at the end of the round like we had in 2008. Even so it is a handy pick to trade.
-
It is time for the AFL to step in and help the dees out. A priority pick is now almost needed to stimulate some trading with the MFC. We are not attracting anyone with our current situation, and stand to fall further behind. Our membership is going to cop a belting. The club needs urgent help. Another 2-3 years of this and the club will have missed an entire generation of supporters. The AFL must swallow their pride and do the unpopular thing and give the Dees a p/pick in the first round.

Jetta has been a revelation this year! Deserves this 2 year deal. Gone from being outside our best 30 players to our top 10 in the blink of an eye.
