People are starting to take notice of Viney and big max. Viney is staking a claim as our best player, and Gawn as our most important player.

Buggs value isn't in his ability to get and use heaps of the footy, his value is antagonising the opposition and getting under their skin. He might help getting under the skin of some of the saints less experienced players. Brayshaw needs a rest, Salem could sit and a Frost could be rested for balance. Oliver Trac and ANB in for me.

Dunn has been one of our most important players for years now. His form shouldn't surprise anyone. He has done some big jobs down back for us over some really dark times. He will never be our best but he is so damn important in that back six.

Don't take anything the "velvet sledgehammer" says seriously. This bloke made a living by pulling out blades of grass to see which way the wind was blowing, only to then take a 2 minute approach to kicking, which was enough time for the wind to change. As for Barrett, he is doing everything he can to sell himself as an insider. He knows Jack about Schmidt!

Hogan can reach superstar status if he stays at Melbourne. Only gws and the Bulldogs can offer such a promising young engine room to feed him for the next 5 years. If he goes to Freo he will be waiving his arms with dissatisfaction every week. They are on the slide and look headed for a 3-5 year rebuild. He won't reach superstar status at Freo.

Commentary was substandard. On a few occasions Melbourne players were wrongly named. I understand we have some new faces but it is the game callers job to know who they are. The rance thing was a joke. If the roles had been reversed I have to think Melbourne would not have been shown the sympathy and rationale that Rance was given.

Roos was quick to call out Bugg and Kennedy at the press conference stating how they are competitors and that the team is really now starting to complete. Howe was great entertainment, but he just didn't have that burning desire to keep competing. Kennedy and Bugg just seem to have that competitiveness in them which is what we need.

Viney- a brownlow smokey

9th-12th is realistic. We would need to start beating your hawthorn's and Sydney's of the competition if we are to make the 8. Next season we could be there.

Viney is fine. If he didn't poll 3 brownlow votes for his game then he should get them for sorting out that scumbag rance. Loved Buggys game also. Antagonised cotchin and co all night long. Apparently Trac doesn't mind mouthing off so we might be building a team of players who will get under the oppositions skin.

Trenners is a smart footballer. There is always room in a side for a smart player. We will see him break into the team again and hopefully fans will be reminded just how good he is.

I'm just happy to sit and watch the dees play a night game on free to air! Getting a win was even better!!

Trenners is on the right path. I can't see him not breaking into the side with these type performances.

Vanders is a handy player for us. I think he will be one of those handy midseason inclusions as some of our other players start to tire. I wish him well in his recovery and look forward to his return.

We lost to essendon.......we shouldn't be taking anyone lightly. Until we win 2 in a row I'm sceptical. That being said, this game is very much up for grabs.

Hit was an assassination. I used to love that aspect of the game 20 years ago but the game is so quick now that guys can't prepare for a hit like that. Head trauma is a real problem, the less hits like that the better! He gets made an example of and goes for 6 weeks.

Wagner- 2016's surprise packet

Jeffy and Bern come back in, they are so influential to this team. Hunt would be a stiff omission as he did everything right for a debutante but Bern is too classy to play in the 2s. Poor matt Jones has played his guts out but you would have to think he makes way for Jeffy if he is ready to go. Trac is a good chance, but I can't see a 3Rd change. He comes in for Matt Jones if Jeffy can't get up and if Roos is game enough to play him.

Has lots if areas to improve on, but my god can he move for a big guy! A few times there I had him mistaken for a pacey mid!!

Wagner looked like he had the composure if a 100 game player today. He is growing with confidence and is staking a claim to be in the back 6. He has been pleasantly surprising.

Watts was good today. His form gives other teams something to think about when playing us. We aren't so reliant on Hogan this season which is helping us up forward.

Hopefully when the club says they are preparing for Collingwoods best they are. If we had prepared for essendons best we either underestimated their best or just didn't prepare.........

Watched the replay again. He was far from our worst on the day and has done enough for re-selection. I am still unsure of where he fits in with a fully fit squad, but he is an interesting player and appears to able to handle the game at the top level. I'm really keen to see how he fares against Collingwood. Perhaps he goes to Howe?
